"Nice room and location "

" Our August stay at Southern Comfort was awesome! We spent the whole week swimming, boating, and hanging out on the dock. We loved the fire pit, baking, geocaching, reading, hot tubbing, playing ping pong and board games. The area is absolutely gorgeous, particularly with coffee in-hand on an early summer morning when the fog hasn’t yet cleared. The house was very clean and quite comfortable, and the kitchen was large enough for two to three people cooking and baking, and even had some bonus appliances like an instant pot! There was plenty of room in the whole house for our group of 19 (half of which were kids under 10), and we appreciated that just about every bedroom had its own bathroom. It might be worth noting that not all of the bedrooms have ceiling fans, and a few people mentioned it was warm in their rooms at night. We did have a couple of things arise during the week, and Mary Beth, who was absolutely a pleasure to interact with, responded quickly, and had someone out to fix things within the day. For future renters, I would mention two things that you should know, though they don’t reflect on the house or owner. One, that the driveway to the property is quite steep; something to be aware of if you have a high-profile vehicle like some in our group. And second, be aware that the area has a 10pm noise curfew, and sound really carries on the water; if you have children who are in bed before then, we recommend bringing sound machines. All in all, loved it!"

"I gave it a 4 but it’s really a 3.5. Good location on the water. Great view. Plenty of beds (two families, total of 9 people). Dock was ok / sufficient for a weekend. Jet ski port was great. There’s not really a fire pit at the property… it’s just a circle of concrete blocks close to two buildings with very tall grass around it. The basement ceiling is very low so even a 5’5” person has to bend down to shower. The upstairs bedroom has an exhaust fan in it, with a sign that says to turn the fan on to get the heat out but turn it off if you want to keep bugs out. We stayed when it was fairly cool outside; I can imagine it’s unbearably hot in the summer upstairs. The listing pictures do not accurately depict the many, many steps to the dock that are very steep and rickety. I’m glad we didn’t have our dog or any toddlers with us; they would not have been able to use the steps. It was “clean enough” - don’t look under the furniture. Lots of ticks, which is expected in the area but some basic weed eating and trimming would help. "
