Our villa was only metres from the coral beach.

Posted 7 Jan. 2018
Really beautiful and relaxing hotel, out of the hustle of the touristy port. Staff were friendly and helpful with any questions we had and sad to say goodbye to! Having no kitchen in the villa was more expensive with having to eat in the restaurant, as well as travelling to places on the buses from the hotel did add up, but for the peace and quiet of the location, it was fair play. Only been home a day and already missing Benjor!

Quiet and close to the baech

Posted 5 Jan. 2018
Pros: No crowds. Very private.
Cons: general maintenance of the resort was poor to fair. Getting back to the resort of a night time was not easy.
Location: We enjoyed kayaking out to the coral island just offshore from the resort and swimming and snorkeling there. Resort close to Mele cascades.
Private beach was perfect for kayaking and snorkeling. Not crowded and very quiet. Great place to chill out.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback. We agree it can be sometimes a problem getting back at night time - most resorts have the same issue as we are generally located out of the city (which definitely has its benefits!!). Good tip is to hire a car in Vanuatu or organise to have your own bus driver for evening adventures!! Thank you for staying with us.

Dirty and remote

Posted 3 Jan. 2018
I was very disappointed when I arrived at Benjor. My room was very dirty. The couch was stained so badly that I didn't feel comfortable sitting on it. The outside furniture was in just as bad shape and it seems as if things have gone into disrepair. The pool was cloudy and the beach was basically just dead coral. Not a great place to swim. And there was no hot water in the shower. I only stayed one night then moved to another resort.

It was such a shame that you booked somewhere which clearly was not your thing. It was obvious no what we could have done for you (switched rooms - etc) that you would not have been happy - you made it clear as a single lady you wanted somewhere more "active" - we are very laid back.... The couch was stained - red wine from another guest that we hadn't been able to fix but was clean. You even wrote me a note to say that the hot water worked.... The snorkelling is lovely - you arrived late afternoon and left early the next day and did not actually go out snorkelling... Maybe do a little more research next time and look at the other reviews....Hope you still had a lovely time with the next place you stayed - Vanuatu is a great place and has wonderful people.

So much potential!

Posted 19 Dec. 2017
We have stayed here a few times previously and have loved the place, with friendly staff and a great snorkeling reef immediately in front of the resort. It is about 20 min away from Port Vila so it is a little isolated, but we prefer that. time however, the small things let the place down. The owner was away and it may have contributed to this. When we arrived we were not taken through the inclusions of our stay; for example, housekeeping only on every second day - so we ran out of towells. The satellite tv was not connected and so I left a message on Facebook (privately) for it to be fixed as reception was a little walk and it was hosing down. This was eventually sorted after a few follow ups with reception over the next two days but no one told us it was sorted so we didn't realise! On the last day, another group were talking about their breakfast - turned out a complementary one consisting of a fruit platter was included but we never knew! On the plus side the coffee was amazing and the staff helpful. The 2bdrm vila was well appointed. The final nail for us was the restaurant. Every time we ate there they were out of something... like eggs at breakfast. I needed 3 attempts at dinner one night as my first two selections were "all gone". We discovered a fantastic restaurant 5 min walk away up the road however so we survived. Honestly this little place could be amazing. All the ingredients are there. Just a little more attention to detail would help.

The reservation should have been cancelled

Posted 30 Nov. 2017
Cons: Despite the calcified water making the taps and faucets looking terrible, it's still easy to dissolve that calcium with the correct products. Vinegar.
Location: Rent a 4wd to stay here. Prices at restaurant are average. Well landscaped, even if it's not well looked after.
The morning of our flights to Vanuatu we received the following email from Benjor "Benjor to me, Miranda, Kelly Good morning ******** family We have just received a booking for you and that you arriving today. Can you please confirm you are arriving Regards Kelly" Following my queries I then received the following email "Just to advise benjor has been closed the past few weeks for Matience and wasn't scheduled to reopen for another week. We only received confirmation last night you were coming. The restaurant is still closed and as this is not your problem I am organising provision for you to cater for your family for the next day or two. I have also organised a a catering pack for your family is there any dietary requirements?" I had booked my vacation 6 months in advance. In addition to this the pool was finally fixed at 4pm the day prior to our departure. We were also burgled - during which my wife and daughter woke up with the intruder still in our house. Despite this you can see that Kelly did try and accommodate us, however, if you can't offer a proper experience to your customers, its probably best you don't offer one at all.

Thank you for your reply - it is a shame that you have decided to "shame" us - we actually had cancelled your booking because we were doing serious maintenance. Having no reply we did the best we could which was to give you free catering etc. This was offered to you in advance to your arrival. We have had no advice about your burglary and I am very sorry that happened. We have security screens, safes and bolts on the back door so offer as best we can. Sometimes unfortunately if doors are not locked we have had the occasionally opportunist trying their luck.... This has happened only five times in 20 years!! Really hope your next experience in Vanuatu is a great one.

Desapointed with the house keeping

We always have to ask for the room to be tied up, like pick up the rubbish, clean towels, milk, sugar, etc.

Thanks Anonymous! I wish you had let me know at the time so I could have corrected these issues with the staff who were working - also really important for them to know as none of the Benjor team want to have guests have an unhappy experience. I will have a chat to housekeeping - and a bit of re-training!!!! Hope the rest of your trip was fantastic.

Gorgeous spot on the water

Posted 15 Jul. 2017 on Hotels
Gorgeous spot on the water. A little away from things but that's part of the charm. Only a 4km walk to Mele cascades and about 3km to the Hideaway island ferry. The owners are lovely. Very friendly and welcoming. There is lots to do on site, kayaking, tennis, mini golf. Beautiful grounds to just relax and enjoy the solitude. Nice restaurant, every bungalow has a great sea view, friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend.

Dear Belinda - thanks so much for your lovely review - you are so right that part of Benjor's charm is that you are out of noisy (sometimes crazy town) and close to most of the major attractions of Port Vila - cascades, ziplining, hideaway, secret garden and more!! I hope that you can come back to stay and play with us again!!! Once again thanks for taking the time to put up a review for us. Cheers Miranda

resort on the beachfront.

Pros: staff friendly bed comfortable
Cons: service rooms daily as advertised serve hot food hot not cold
Location: far from town. nice beach but hard to get to town for restaurants or evening events. very quiet and peaceful. if you like total hibernation.
was an ok place to stay when booked two days in advance. is further from town and a real hassle to get back and forth. food is expensive and often cold the steak was terrible. rooms were supposed to be serviced daily this was really only every 2-3 days. staff were very friendly esp fred and steve. overall it was comfortable but next time i would stay closer to town it was quite hard to convince the bus drivers to take me home each day.

Thanks for your feedback - always appreciated. We actually have never had full daily service - our full service is every three days or sooner if requested. Our location is fantastic - only 20 mins from town and only 5 mins from the major Port Vila attractions such as Ziplining, Wet & Wild Park, Secret Garden, Hideaway Island, Beach Bar, Cascade Waterfalls etc. Sorry for your experience with cold steak - that is unacceptable and I will definitely talk to the Chefs about that. Our prices are comparable with the majority of restaurants in town and certainly cheaper than the large resort restaurants. We would certainly love to have you back and show you a better Benjor!! Thanks for your comments with respect to our fabulous Staff. Will pass them on. Cheers.
