About this property
Private Hilltop Villa with Infinity Pool – Perfect to Explore Matera & Puglia
Perched atop its own private hill, this stunning three-bedroom villa is surrounded by rolling grain fields and offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the Lucanian countryside. At the center of the property is a magnificent heated infinity pool, where you can relax while taking in sweeping vistas and unforgettable sunsets each evening.
The villa is thoughtfully designed on a single level, with spacious, well-proportioned rooms featuring marble floors, soaring vaulted ceilings in warm Pugliese yellow stone, and elegant French doors that open directly onto the pool deck, shaded stone loggias, and expansive terraces. In 2025, brand-new split-system air conditioning units were installed in every bedroom and the main living space, ensuring strong and effective cooling throughout the villa. Indoor and outdoor living blend seamlessly, creating the perfect setting for relaxing, dining, and entertaining.
The bathrooms feature Philippe Starck and Grohe fittings with large walk-in showers, while the chef’s kitchen is equipped with custom LadyCucine cabinetry and Siemens appliances, ideal for preparing meals with fresh local ingredients.
Despite its peaceful countryside setting, the villa is perfectly located for exploring the region. The historic center of Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its ancient cave dwellings, exceptional restaurants, and boutique hotels, is just 14 km away. Spend your days wandering through the Sassi, dining in Michelin-rated restaurants or traditional trattorias carved into the stone.
Within a 30-minute drive you can reach the beautiful sandy beaches of the Ionian Sea, while many of Puglia’s most charming towns — including Alberobello, Ostuni, and Monopoli — are all within about an hour’s drive. Bari International Airport is also conveniently located less than an hour away.
Whether you're enjoying sunset by the pool, exploring the historic villages of Basilicata and Puglia, or simply soaking in the tranquility of the countryside, this villa offers an unforgettable Southern Italy escape.

Beautiful Villa and amazing views. Pictures don’t serve it justice. Missing it already, will definitely be back. Matera is also very beautiful and very close by.
We were a family of 5 and had the most incredible stay at this hilltop villa! The 360 views of the countryside are breathtaking, and the infinity pool is absolutely perfect for relaxing at sunset. The villa itself is spotless, stylish, and very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay.It feels private and peaceful, yet it’s only a short drive to Matera’s historic Sassi district. Our host was welcoming and helpful, making the whole experience effortless. We didn’t want to leave—highly recommended!”We are coming back next year.
This villa was absolutely amazing with amazing views. The host was so helpful and kind. We have never stayed anywhere where they treated us so well. Everyday they left us a gift, fresh eggs, fresh fruit, and pastries to take on the road. We only had 3 days but we all wished we had more time there. We had 3 couples and it was perfect with the outdoor area and pool! Highly recommend!
The villa more than lived up to the photos and descriptions. Stunning hilltop location that offered privacy, 360–degree views, and easy access to Matera and a couple of small charming towns, as well as day trips to the higher-profile tourist towns like Polignano, Alberobello, etc….
The accommodations were pristine, spacious and well laid out. The groundskeeper (Marcello) is there every morning at 7:00 to clean the pool and any other maintenance needs.
The owner (Giulio) checked in with us by text on a regular basis to make sure we were well looked after.
Stunning sunset was a perfect backdrop for my daughter getting engaged there!!
Truly wonderful place/experience.
We are a family of four visiting Southern Italy, and this villa was the perfect place for us to spend time together for rest, relaxation, and fun. The villa and its location exceeded our expectations. The owner, Giulio, is a fantastic host and very communicative, ensuring we had everything we needed.
The villa itself is stunning, offering breathtaking views and beautiful sunsets. The house is well-equipped with all the amenities you could wish for, providing plenty of space for everyone to either enjoy their own activities or come together for family time. There are convenient supermarkets about a 15-minute drive away towards Matera.
Overall, we highly recommend this villa and its location to anyone looking to explore this region while also enjoying some peace and quiet. It was an unforgettable experience, and we would love to return in the future.
We are two young families who booked this wonderful property to use as a home base for traveling around together in Southern Italy and we are so glad we did. The home's proximity to Matera is perfect as it was only a 10 min drive and we were able to explore the city daily (the owner's recommendations for dining and sites were spot on) and then return to the expansive property and enjoy wine and the breathtaking sunsets while the kids played in the huge pool. The home is extremely well laid out with the children occupying one room and the adults in the other two rooms (one child choose to sleep on the huge sectional in the living room...all the furniture is different and ten times better than the photos which the owners should update). The entire property is extremely private and secure and proved to be a perfect base to explore other Puglia sites as it was only about an hour to get to most landmarks and towns. A final shout out to the grounds keeper Marcello who was extremely kind and helpful. Highly recommend this property!
Really enjoyable stay. Property excellent. Views absolutely stunning. Pool was great. Air conditioning very good and needed when we went. Special shout out to Marcello who looks after the place and is so generous
The villa was beautiful and exactly as the images. The aircon was brilliant and we have plenty of space as a family of 4. We spent most of our time around the pool or cooking on the BBQ. Matera was lovely to visit and only around 15 minutes by car. Most of the restaurants didn't open until around 7:30 or 8pm which was a shock for us when we got there at 5:30 with young children looking for somewhere to eat. That was fine though once we realised. Ristorante Pizzeria Matera in the old part of Matera right on the square was lovely and did really good priced (and very big!) pizzas for less than 10 euros - which our children said were the best Pizzas they'd ever had!
Our trip was wonderful the villa is stunning and perfectly appointed for our family of five including two teens and a 4 year old. The 360 degree views are incredible and sunsets absolutely stunning. We spent evenings picking fruits and herbs in the incredible garden, swimming and soaking in the views while using the outdoor pizza oven to make food.
Local grocery store and restaurants are about 15 minutes away and villa is easily accessible to Matera. Matera is an incredible city with so much to explore and see you could spend days there.
The villa is also close to beaches about 30 minute drive to the southern coast with sandy beaches perfect for families. Highly recommend beach resort Lido Natura. Also took the 60 minute drive to explore the beautiful towns and coastline on the East coast south of Bari another trip worth making.
Overall highly recommend location for exploring southern Italy, Matera and having a place that’s peaceful and serene.
Stunning views and blissful comfort... the home, the grounds, the town... 10/10
So, apparently we were one of the first house guests to this Villa. The owner, Julio, just bought it this year. He and I had several phone conversations before our visit and he was super helpful in managing our first trip to Puglia. Once we were there, the British house manager, Holly, was also lovely and helpful. The online listing was beautiful, but the house exceeded my expectations in person. The furniture is much better than the photos and the views were insane. The house sits on top of a hill and has such amazing sunsets that we’d try to rush home from wherever we were to have cocktails by the pool and watch the sun go down. And the drive through the countryside to the front gate never got old. The home is well appointed and very comfortable. It’s obvious that a lot of attention went into the home design and decor. As for the area, Matera is one of the most magical cities I've ever been to with plenty to do and see. It was simple to get into town for restaurants and grocery runs, though we could have just stayed on the property to eat from the garden. Artichokes, strawberries, lemons and oranges all grow at the house and were delicious. They also had pomegranate trees, but unfortunately, they weren’t in season. We took a couple day trips at Julio's suggestion to Alberobello, Ostuni and Polignano al Mare, and had lunch at the Palazzo Margherita (gorgeous!) about 30 mins away in Bernalda. I'd give our stay 10 stars if I could, and we can’t wait to come back!
