Earthship built with recycled and natural material and 100% off grid: Solar powered and with systems to recycle grey and black water. The house harvests rain water and is naturally warm at night.
The house has the best view of the main glaciers of the sacred valley.
It is located in Maras, 5 minutes away from the main road Cusco - Urubamba. It is also 10 minutes away from the maras Salt mine and the Moray Inka laboratory.
Activities in the area includes bike riding, horse riding, walks and other activities in the nature.

Beautiful, off-the-grid experience!

To sum up my short stay here: Wow! My sister and I stayed here one night to help acclimatize before heading into Cusco and it ended up being one of our favorite parts of the whole trip, and I definitely wish we'd had more time here. We loved this place! Alain & Carolina built this earthship with their own hands and the details are beautiful -- colored bottles in the walls which have the effect of stained glass, the greenhouse with different plants & flowers, the stone & tile work. Just amazing that they did it themselves AND all with reclaimed or recycled or local materials. When asking for a host, one could not ask for better than Alain. Even a month ahead of time when I was booking and had a ton of questions, he answered all of them pretty much right away, always, and was extremely helpful, even setting up a taxi for us for the way back to Cusco on our check out day. Once we were at the earthship for the night, he stopped at nothing to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed or just wanted for our stay. He even built us a fire out at the firepit so we could enjoy the clear but chilly night under the stars! And that's the other thing... the location of the earthship is so quiet and remote. There's no bothersome city lights around it. I had an amazing night of sleep after stargazing and woke up to the views of the mountains and glaciers just out the window. Possibly heaven on earth! Every single detail of this stay was a wonderful and unique experience in every single way! It must be noted again that this property is completely off the grid. Whatever rain water and solar energy are collected is what there is to use, and Alain & Carolina strive to be zero waste. Being so mindful at all times of energy and water consumption and cutting back on generating garbage is something most of us take for granted these days. But anyone willing to take steps towards mindful consumption on their vacation to Maras will be rewarded greatly by their stay here.
