Final touches are complete. Updates include new custom kitchen with concrete counters and stainless steel appliances, new bathroom with walk in shower and all around general updates. Cozy 2 bedroom home is located directly on the Kokosing river thought to translate from the Algonquin Indians and mean “River of the Little Owls.” The cabin is a short distance to Kenyon College, Apple Valley lake, Ohio Amish country and tons and tons of great parks, hiking trails, bike trails and hunting. Great fishing off of the banks in the back yard. Numerous different wildlife spotted including eagles, hawk, mink and deer. Kayaks and canoe provided for your use. Large deck to enjoy river view, outdoor shower and soaking tub (ready for use when weather cooperates). WiFi and internet based TV on 42" flat screen. Pets considered on a case by case basis.

This is the review you're looking for
The owners really went out of their way to think of the little things. They had relaxing music playing as we entered, firewood was layed out for us and all the little amenities provided so we needed minimal stuff from home. It was nice and clean and the property itself was amazing. We visited in March it was super cold and the heat wouldn't get up past 68 degrees inside the cottage which led to extra cooking and snuggling to help keep warm. We woke up every morning to 66 degrees inside. It's not quiet and is off a busy highway but those are the only downsides. I can imagine how beautiful this place would be in the spring/summer where you could really use the property for all that it has to offer. It's close to town but far enough away to feel like you're really in the middle of nowhere. No close neighbors and coming from the city we liked that very much. We do plan to return and we would recommend this when looking to stay in the area.

Relaxing time
We stayed the week of Christmas as a get away. Enjoyed the the hime and had a very relaxing time. It had everything we needed. Lots of nice little touches. The weather was rainy and dreary so we didn’t get to enjoy the area as we would have liked. Looking forward to visiting again in the spring.

They've redeemed private rentals for me
I've had a few bad rentals in my past so I've been leery to rent something like this again. But I wanted a lake/river side cabin type rental for a few days in the middle of nowhere to take my dogs and found this place. First, they allow any size dogs, which is great because so many places limit 25 or 50lbs and less, which I don't have. Having a 110lb dog that looks like a black bear severely limits my rental options. And their pet fees are very reasonable. Checkin/out is simple enough. But right on arrival, before even going inside, there is evidence they are good hosts. There are 2 fire pits and they have firewood available, which they have chopped and all lined up and set out in separate piles for easy grabbing. Despite being surrounded by trees, the yard had been cleared of leaves. and Upon going inside, the place was immaculately clean, beds made. The place was gorgeous and even had ambient music playing. I had brought 2 dogs and they even had left 2 treats specifically for them, which was absolutely amazing. The rules are not overbearing, just basic ones about towels and such that are more than understandable. The place has clearly been well thought out and set up for many different types of people in mind. My dogs loved being able to roam freely on the completely enclosed porch, as well as having a large yard to play in. I don't rent cabins or anything often but they definitely made me want to rent from them again in one of the warmer months.
