Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Maniwaya?
The best area to stay in Maniwaya is along the northern coast, particularly around the village of Maniwaya, as it offers the most convenient access to the island's main attractions and amenities.

This area is the heart of the island's activity, with a good selection of guesthouses and small resorts. You'll find yourself close to the main port where boats arrive and depart, making your transfers straightforward. The coastline here features lovely stretches of white sand, great for relaxing, and many establishments are directly on the beach.

For couples seeking a relaxing beach holiday, staying directly on the northern coast provides easy access to swimming, sunbathing, and beachfront dining. You can easily arrange island-hopping tours from here to visit nearby attractions like the Palad Sandbar or the Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary.

Families will also appreciate the convenience of this area. The shallow waters along the northern beaches are suitable for children, and the proximity to the port means less travel time with luggage and little ones.
When is the best time to go to Maniwaya?
The best time to go to Maniwaya is during the dry season, which runs from November to May, with the peak months being March, April, and May.

During these months, you can expect plenty of sunshine and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for enjoying the island's white sand beaches and clear waters. The seas are generally calm, superb for island hopping, swimming, and snorkelling.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will find these months particularly appealing. The consistent good weather allows for uninterrupted days spent relaxing on the beach, exploring the surrounding islets, or enjoying a quiet sunset. The calm waters are superb for a leisurely boat trip to Palad Sandbar or Mongpong Island.

Solo travellers who enjoy water activities will also appreciate the dry season. Conditions are excellent for snorkelling around the coral gardens or trying paddleboarding.
