"This is a very nice hotel, very clean and beautiful setting. Getting to it is an absolute nightmare. One has to travel down almost 2 miles of dirt, gravel road up the side of a mountain, the GPS that I was using got completely confused and sent me down the wrong dirt road, someone from the hotel had to come to the town square to lead me cause it was impossible to find the place. Once there the hotel was great, staff from friendly and pleasant. If one is going to stay here make sure to rent a 4x4...

"The room was not quite as described on Expedia, but that did not matter. Not your typical hotel, more like staying as guests in someone’s house. Lovely location in a lovely village, situated in lovely scenery."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Mândra?
The best area to stay in Mândra, for a truly peaceful and authentic Transylvanian experience, is within the village itself, particularly near the main church and the surrounding guesthouses.

This area offers a genuine insight into rural Romanian life, with traditional houses, local farms, and unpaved country lanes. It's a quiet retreat, great for those looking to disconnect and enjoy the natural beauty of the region. The village is small enough to explore on foot, allowing you to discover its charm at your own pace.

Couples seeking a tranquil escape will find Mândra ideal. You can enjoy long walks through the countryside, relax in the gardens of your accommodation, and experience the warmth of local hospitality. The slower pace of life here is great for unwinding and spending quality time together away from the hustle and bustle.

Families will also appreciate Mândra for its calm environment and opportunities for outdoor activities. Children can enjoy the open spaces, and there are often farm animals to see.
When is the best time to go to Mândra?
The best time to go to Mândra is during the summer months, from June to September, when the weather is warm and sunny, making it ideal for exploring the surrounding Transylvanian countryside.

During this period, the days are long, and temperatures are generally pleasant, averaging around 20-25°C. This allows for comfortable walks and hikes in the Făgăraș Mountains or leisurely visits to local attractions. The vibrant green landscape is at its most beautiful, superb for scenic drives.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will find these months particularly appealing. You can enjoy al fresco dining, explore the traditional villages at your own pace, or simply unwind amidst the natural beauty. The longer daylight hours also mean more time for sightseeing and enjoying the tranquil evenings.

For families, summer offers the best conditions for outdoor activities. Children can enjoy playing outdoors without the chill of autumn or winter, and the clear skies are superb for stargazing away from city lights.
