The country house with its romantic flair stands in the middle of an old olive grove. On arrival, visitors are greeted by an overwhelming view of the lake and an unrivalled scent of Mediterranean herbs. The place is perceived by guests as a "place of strength", an ideal retreat, an island of tranquillity.
The house - built over 100 years ago on a rock - was originally a small farm, a so-called rustiko. The old building was discreetly extended and carefully converted into a residential tower.
During the conversion, particular attention was paid to preserving the character and charm of the house. This approach is reflected both in the form and the materials of the extension, which speaks a clear contemporary language with stone, glass and metal. A glass front connects the old with the new structure and floods the house with sun and light.
The changing seasons and the strong presence of the landscape determine the atmosphere of the interiors. The view from the window falls on the old olive trees with their gnarled trunks; they are ambassadors of the south and epitomise Mediterranean flair. The delicate, elegantly curved branches give the olive tree a calm, harmonious elegance. The silvery leaves unfurl a wonderfully shimmering play of light and colour at any time of day. The deep blue lake and the silhouette of the mountains opposite form a contrast.
The rooms are spread over three levels. The kitchen is accessible from two sides, with both doors leading out into the garden. On the terrace in front, you can enjoy home-cooked spaghetti or grilled fish in the shade of the grapevine.
A stone staircase leads from the outside into the fireplace room, which is furnished with a comfortable sofa bed. The floor with its old terracotta tiles creates a cosy atmosphere.
A wooden staircase leads to the two upper bedrooms. The furnishings are high-quality and deliberately minimalist.
The real living room, however, is the garden. Over 5000 square metres of land with olive trees, two terraces, a large barbecue area and a herb garden are available for exclusive use. The scent of the herbs - including the many wild herbs - is beguiling, the change of seasons impressive. Plant lovers will be delighted. Also because everything thrives without the use of chemicals. The grounds invite you to explore the downy oaks, wig bushes, lavender tufts, oleanders and agaves, to meditate, read, look, marvel and enjoy.
Adjacent to the olive grove is a 15-metre-long, slender infinity pool, whose orientation towards the lake and the village of Malcesine emphasises the incomparable panorama. Swimming in the pool gives you the feeling that you could swim out into the lake. The silver quartzite panelling creates surprising light effects depending on the sunlight. The formation of algae is also delayed, meaning that treatment with chlorine is not necessary. Purification takes place via the supply of oxygen, which is why the water feels so soft.
The pool is also used by the landlords, who live in the adjoining pool house in between taking care of the maintenance of the entire area - which is over 20,000 square metres in total. The landlords are also happy to act as contact persons.
The middle station of the Monte Baldo cable car with the famous revolving gondola, which floats swiftly and elegantly to the summit, is just a few minutes' drive from the house. From here you can avoid the usual waiting times at the valley station. The entire mountain range is known far and wide for its diverse flora and fauna, but also for its magnificent cycling and hiking trails.
The old paths down to the lake are rarely used, as it is quicker and easier to motor along the panoramic "via Panoramica" - bella vista e buon arrivo!

Malcesine is just 55 kilometres from the provincial capital of Verona and Catullo Airport. Malcesine is the ideal starting point for walks and excursions, especially on Monte Baldo, which is considered the "Botanical Garden of Europe" due to its numerous plant varieties and rises to an altitude of over 2200 metres. The town is also an important destination for sailing enthusiasts, with a large marina and numerous windsurfing and kitesurfing schools.
