"Very pleasant stay. Room was cleaned twice a day and fulfilled our expectation. Very nice area and extremely service minded personnel. Food had a high quality with a wide variation of menues every day.
Be aware of the tide on that side of the island, some day you had to walk several hundred meters for having a bath. "
"Some travelers forget they are visiting a foreign country and overlook local conditions, policies, & environment. Many common complaints can be avoided by reading details planning ahead, and communicating clearly. I believe in forming my own experience —and I’m so glad I did.
My experience was a 10,000/10.
The staff and service were exceptional from start to finish. Everyone was professional, patient, and made me feel comfortable throughout my stay.
Juma, the Front Office Manager, arranged my round-trip airport transfer with Emanuel who shared local history along the way. Juma clearly explained my package and handled a small misunderstanding on my end with patience and helpful solutions.
Consolata, the receptionist, welcomed me warmly and made me feel at home immediately. I arrived early, and she personally showed me around the property while sharing its history, which I truly appreciated.
Ramso, my butler, was outstanding—attentive, calm, and genuinely caring. When I had a room issue (my mistake), he went above and beyond to ensure my comfort, moving me to a room that exceeded expectations. I would absolutely request him again!
Chef Mohammed delivered excellent meals from breakfast to dinner. The food was fresh, authentic, healthy, and flavorful, and his passion truly shows.
Overall, I loved the scenery, privacy, cleanliness, safety, and peaceful atmosphere. Fruit & Spice is perfect for relaxation and exceptional service. I highly recommend this resort.

"It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. We so wanted it to be great, but unfortunately... it isn't.
If you are looking to rent a room on a barely B&B basis, with a hostel vibe, then this is your place, I cannot fault it for that... however they are charging WAY too much for it. This is a $50 per night place MAXIMUM, and for that I guess it's great, but for $150 or more per night, which is what we paid, and I note for some reason at the moment its at over $300 per night, this is simply ludicrous.
How do we know? After 5 nights there, willing ourselves to see past all the negatives and trying to be positive, we basically couldn't do it anymore. We then booked another hotel that was maybe $10 per night more than Ujamaa and left. The difference was night and day!!
I realise, you can be reading this negative review amongst all the glowing 5 star reviews and think that I'm just some idiot, probably complains for the littlest of things, but that would be very far from the truth, and also, we did exactly the same with the negative reviews we read. You're so excited and can't wait to go, and with so many great reviews the negatives must be crackpots and you dismiss them.
As I was writing this it would seem Expedia limits these reviews, I have more to say and to describe all the faults, so please check out other review sites to see the whole review."
"My stay at Blue Reef was nothing short of magical. I truly felt like I was home and by the end of my visit, the staff felt like my extended family. They remembered me, cared for me, and made me feel genuinely special through the smallest, most meaningful gestures from offering me fresh passion fruit when I simply asked to take a photo of it, to inviting me behind the bar to show me how their fresh juice is made.
The sunrises and sunsets were absolutely breathtaking some of the most beautiful moments I experienced in Zanzibar. One of the highlights of my stay was requesting an off-menu dish: ugali. The chef personally came out to ask how I liked the meal, which turned out to be the most delicious food I’ve had since arriving in Tanzania.
My time in Zanzibar and especially at Blue Reef was pure magic. I’m beyond grateful for the warmth, hospitality, and unforgettable memories, and I cannot wait to return with my family."
"There is nothing to fault. Staff were amazing, food was delicious. The hotel was tranquil and very restorative. The beach was beautiful. All amenities were great, but the staff, they stood out, they were truly wonderful. Thank you to everyone. "
"We had a wonderful stay at this property. It was beautiful, peaceful, and perfectly located within walking distance of all the major spots. The hotel also offers a trolley service to the beach, and for other destinations, transportation is available for a small fee, which was very convenient.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. I appreciated the laundry service, enjoyed spending time by the pool, and felt well taken care of throughout my stay. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a DJ, which created a great first impression and set the tone for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation.
I would absolutely recommend this property and would happily stay here ag"
