"Lovely hotel and setting. Big room overlooking garden. Nice place to eat outside as well as inside. Good breakfast, reasonably priced. Right next to one of the gates which enable you to walk around the walls of Avila. I would say that it isn't necessarily the best hotel for a lie in. We were in 114 and from about 7 am it sounded as though someone was walking 5k in the room above, whilst also constructing furniture. It probably is the nature of the beast. Huge rooms that echo, gorgeous, shiny, tiled floors and due to the historic nature of the property, no sound proofing. Despite the above, I would definitely recommend this property and would happily revisit it."

"The only reason we did not give this a five star was because our AC was not working as normal. Overall, the hotel was excellent. The food was good. The staff in the buffet breakfast was very helpful and always maintained food items, hot and stocked. I would definitely come back to this place and hopefully soon."

"Last of us meets Sponge Bob. The hotel was wonderful for us but not for the usual reasons. The place had a nautical theme with an interesting galley/rooms/dining area. The place seemed empty but there were people checking in and out periodically. The staff was excellent--completely helpful, willing to accommodate where possible, all in all around some of the best we experienced in Spain. The odd parts to the building-- the nautical sitting room which had no one in it, The Gym was included was across abridge--oddly enough the Spa was closed so no one is in the whole building. Gym was fine for a work out but during daylight only as I don't think the shower/locker area had power. In a few places there were beer bottles/wine bottles that were not cleared away, god only knows how long they were there. This added to the experience in the eeriness quotient of the place, but not in a creepy or scary way. The dining room was interesting. the breakfast was good. The bar/tavern is closed, but looked cool in a Long John silver way. All told, this place seemed lost in time, run down around the edges, but speaking of better days. We loved it, but not everyone will."

"We honestly cannot fault our stay here. The staff, although they said they spoke little English, they were incredibly helpful! The room is what you pay for. It was spacious and had its own private bathroom and it was clean. The room also provided you with towels and some toiletries/toothbrushes which was very handy. The hostel is situated right next to the train line but having said this, we had no disturbance from the trains passing through. In fact I think we even forgot we were next to a train line at one point. The accommodation is a short 10-15 minute walk into main Avila. There you can see/visit the Walls of Avila, the Cathedral and many other beautiful historic spots. Every morning we went to a little cafe, just across from the hostel, I think it was called Costellos? But it was so lovely and very reasonably priced. The locals are very friendly and helpful and Avila as a whole just felt so safe. We would definitely stay here again if we were to visit."
