In the heart of Lyons-la-Forêt, a very beautiful building with La Licorne Royale Restaurant just downstairs. Staff, although, does not seem to know what is going on as they gave me a different room from what I paid and they told me that the room that I have booked would only be available in 1h time from the check in time that is 4pm!! The bathtub in my room had a lot of yellow marks on it, it needs a thorough cleaning before anyone is using it. On my check out, the lady wanted to charge me for the room again as I had already paid everything online. They also told me I had to pay 30€ more to use the spa but the ladies in the spa were extremely professional and lovely and explained to me that, as I was staying in the hotel, I was allowed to use the spa facilities at no extra cost. Overall is a good place to stay as the spa is very good. But I think the hotel staff should be more prepared and understand better what they have to do and where to check things, as it is a 4-star one.

Charmant hôtel avec un jardin très agréable

Joli village avec un vieux marché en plein centre. Hôtel idéalement placé. Un peu déçu par notre chambre qui était à l'écart, dans "les maisons de la licorne". Nous n'avions pas compris qu'il s'agissait des "maisons" indépendantes. Il faut penser à réserver à l'avance les massages ou soins.

Le restaurant et le spa sauvent la mise

Arrivés à l’heure requise (16h), nous nous présentons à la « réception », un étroit guichet donnant sur un couloir exigu traversant l’hôtel de la rue à la cour intérieur, fonction qui génère un passage continu dans cet espace où nous sommes trois arrivants (avec bagages) à attendre. Comme pour les autres, et après une vérification qui, à chaque fois, demande plusieurs minutes, la seule personne gérant ce service à l’accueil (l’autre agent présent ne décolle pas de son écran d’ordinateur) nous demande de revenir dans une heure… À 17 h, elle doit aller se renseigner pour vérifier que notre location est prête, ce qui prend 5 minutes à l’issue desquelles elle revient avec la clef pour refaire le trajet en notre compagnie. Il s’avère que notre location est une maisonnette, à l’écart de l’hôtel. Celle-ci ne dispose d’aucun moyen pour joindre la réception. Le cadre est charmant et doté d’une cuisine équipée (cuisinière, batterie de vaisselle, frigo…) où l’on peut prendre un café… debout ! Ni table, ni chaises, tout comme dans le bel espace fleuri adossé à la maison. Nous avons le choix entre chambre du rez-de-chaussée et chambre à l’étage. Ne disposant pas de casque pour se garantir contre la charpente qui rend périlleux (dans le noir, n’en parlons pas !) l’accès au côté du lit opposé à la porte, nous optons pour le rez-de-chaussée. L’aménagement de la salle de bain est admissible pour un gîte rural rustique mais peu en rapport avec le classement revendiqué par l’établissement.

Hôtel de charme et spa de qualité

Surprise en arrivant à la réception, nous serons logés dans une petite maisonnette au charme exceptionnel à 200m à pied de l'hôtel. Calme et tranquillité au rendez vous. Personnel très accueillant et aux petits soins et spa Nuxe de grande qualité (piscine, bain à remous, sauna, hammam et tisanerie). Je recommande sans hésiter cet hôtel pour un week-end relaxation.

Great for the outdoors

Lyons-la-forêt is a great place to visit. We went on hikes, toured the taillage, and visited some local castles. The hotel itself was good. The accommodation was good although it could've been better dusted and there was no microwave in the kitchen! The spa facilities were beautiful. Kids enjoyed the indoor/outdoor pool and service delivered with a smile.

Très bel endroit avec du potentiel

Séjour très agréable dans un charmant endroit. Petit déjeuner décevant pour le prix. Peu de choix le spa manque d'espace de détente ou l'on peut difficilement s'asseoir ... Les vestiaires hommes sentent l'urine ... Et les équipements ne sont pas nettoyés pendant la journée ce qui serait nécessaire quand il y a bcp de passage. Les massages sont très agréables.

Dejligt hotel i hyggelig lille blomster-landsby

Vi havde et dejligt ophold på hotel Licorne. Der var gratis parkering på stedet. Manskal køre bagom hotellet for at parkere. Jeg synes at billederne her på hjemmesiden ikke giver samme indtryk af hvordan hotellet egentligt ser ud. Vi blev meget positivt overraskede. Der holdte to fine klassiske biler i gården. Hotellet er et flot gammelt bindingsværkshus og vores værelse var landigt indrettet, men samtidig moderniseret. Hotellet ligger lige i bymidten lige overfor en gammel og overdækket markedsplads. Den dag vi ankom var der salg af blomster o.l. Rigtig hyggeligt. Tag evt. google-maps, street view.

We'll be back!

This was a delight. Wonderful old French building in well-preserved and attractive old village in the forests. Our room had a little sitting room as well as the bedroom and bathroom, comfortable beds. But the highlight was dinner in their small and well furnished dining room, classic french food cooked and served with style. Not a place for those seeking a cheap option but good value for money. The village was quiet off-season (early November) but has other restaurants and a range of attractive shops.

Pour un vrai moment de détente

Nous cherchions un moment de calme en pleine nature, mission accomplie. Service chaleureux, hôtel joliment décoré, respectueux de l'histoire du village, peu de chambres donc peu de monde, très bonne table, le bistrot de la Licorne offre une bonne carte à prix raisonnable, le restaurant gastronomique est également très bien. Pour couronner ce week end de vrai détente, le Spa Nuxe, un peu cher certes mais ça valait vraiment le coup. Bref, un très bon moment. Nous y retournerons!
