Building is clean staffis nice, however, during my state there was no room service. So at the end, you will have to take out your trash as well as keep the room clean. Towels and soap was provided at the front desk whenever needed.

We enjoyed our stay in this no-frills hotel. The room was spacious and quiet. We used its small kitchen space to prepare our own breakfasts. The location is convenient - if you don't mind the uphill hike to get there. Great views. Friendly staff. The price was quite reasonable for Lyon.

This was great. Location worked very well for me (backpacker). Everyone on the staff team were very kind, and most spoke english just fine. Bed was on the harder side, and I usually prefer very soft beds (It was no issue, just preference). Window wasn't very well insulated, so noise got through quite easily. The room had hand soap and body wash. Soap for the dishwasher could be collected at the receptionist, and the room had a well appreciated fan. 3 towels also included. Breakfast is 11 euro pr. night, which definitely is on the more expensive side. It mainly consists of a buffet with baguette, 1-4 types of meat, cheese, eggs, pancakes (thick and thin), croissants and pain au chocolat of course, and a fridge with yogurts. The area is really nice because of the cafès very close by. Very few homeless people, and a lot of young people which made me feel safer.

Nice big and clean rooms with fridge, dishwasher, stove and microwave. Comfortable beds and nice bathroom with with a bathtub. Great view of the city from the window. The person I at the front desk was not very helpful with anything extra (pillow, towel). There is no AC, just a small fan. Had to leave the window open and run the fan all night. You are required to clean the room and take out your own trash. Location is the main problem. It is at the top of the hill, so anywhere you want to walk to is steep downhill/uphill coming back. No restaurants or breakfast places close by. The hotel does offer breakfast for 12 euros. There is parking, but no lines for cars to park in between, so there is a lot of wasted space, and not enough parking. We had to park on the handicap spot!

Overall a great smooth stay. Highs: The views over the city The staff communication and friendliness. The room was good size Comfy beds Location is up a hill but not an issue Close to main areas Lows: Sadly bathroom hadn't been cleaned and shower was dirty. Dishwasher was full and not cleaned Hot rooms even with windows open. However the above didn't really effect us. Would stay again.

I am used to a campervan so having all the kitchen facilities and a safe suited me perfectly. The double bed was wide and firm. It wasn’t possible to have a cleaner for the six nights we stayed and I enjoyed the sense of privacy that allowed. The downside was that I had to run the hoover and put the rubbish out myself. Best to bring a dish towel and a kitchen sink plug too because you don’t want the dish-washer on all the time. Some reviews say the Residence needs an update but I enjoyed the slightly retro feel. The cloistered corridor was charming especially with the perfume from the trees outside floating in. I am in my seventies and found the hill manageable though my calves hardened up after two days climbing it. Metro La Croix Paquet, at the bottom of the hill, feels closer than the recommended metro stop of La Croix-Rousse. There’s a traboule just across the road! We had biting insects flying in at night in April - mozzie screens would be the best update for me. I would use the Residencia Villemanzy again.

Check in was nit the best, we struggled to fi d the rooms as its a big place and the reception was not clear. Parking was available but ve aware it is limited, if you have a larger vehicle its tight, and very limited street parking. The rooms are basic butvthis is reflected in price. We had two rooms booked and the one on top floor was much better with a super view over lyon. We were only stoping over on way to italy this was just enough tine to cusit okd town, which was interesting and pmenty if pkaces to dine.
