"After checking in and receiving directions to this apartment, the staff member admitted they had never been to this rental before and couldn’t give us better or more specific instructions. It took us a while to find and once we did, we couldn’t park at the building because the lot required a parking code we didn’t receive. No problem we were only passing through for one night so we parked at the lot behind it and carried our suitcases because rolling them wasn’t possible due to the streets...

"Another excellent stay at the very well run, comfortable Hotel Vilamar! It really ticks all my boxes, with its very friendly staff, its very spacious, well maintained rooms and neat terraces overlooking the pleasant gardens and swimming pools. There is also a cozy bar/restaurant serving value breakfast, snacks and evening meals so what’s not to like? The location is a 20 minute (uphill) walk from Luz centre and beach but the bus from Lagos to Burgau stops right outside the door, a huge plus for the independent traveller exploring the Western Algarve. They close at the end of October for the season but I certainly hope to return next year to one of my favourite hotels. Muito Obrigado!"

"Beautiful property! A bit out of the way. If I returned would stay in Luz. No desk person was ever there except for check in. Always felt safe. Parking was great.The breakfast staff was wonderful and so was the breakfast. In your room there is a notice about not eating in your room as it would attract ants. I found this annoying and thought unrealistic on their part. Who doesn’t eat or have snacks when away in their room? A worker sealed and sprayed the room opposite to us when we were there. We never saw ants but if you lounge by pool and eat breakfast there is a lot of pesky flies. Maybe because they are in the country?? While we were at the beach or in town we never encountered this! We enjoyed our stay but would not come back."

"The house is beautiful, fantastic location, lovely pool and well appointed kitchen. Irina and Frank were very responsive. We didn’t have hot water for showers the first night after a long day of grubby travel but the issue was resolved the next day. Other than that minor glitch, a wonderful stay. Highly recommend."

"The area was beautiful and the staff were very nice and helpful and the breakfast buffet that was included was a beautiful area and lots of choice. Our room was darker and more dated than I expected and the drapery that provided the privacy to our room was torn -the outside shutters only went halfway down as well. There were tiny little black type ants in the bathroom and by the front door inside - I am not certain if its just because it was a more tropical area and they all have this."

"We loved our stay! The property was beautiful with a great ocean view and the villa was well stocked with essentials. Check in was very easy and we appreciated the accommodations made for us as we arrived quite late due to delayed flights. The town and beach are just a short walk and there were several great options for restaurants in walking distance. The pool was larger than expected and it was a great way to cool off after exploring all day. My only regret is that we were not able to stay longer. I hope to return again soon!"
