We stayed at Hotel du Lac Signature twice during our stay across Vietnam and Bali and thought every aspect of our stay was amazing and beat out the other global luxury brands we stayed in. The location of Hotel du Lac is steps from Train Street and in the middle of multiple Michelin Restaurants and some of the most amazing cocktail bars we've visited across continents. If you can walk 2km (which is a lot in the heat), you likely don't need to take a car anywhere in Hanoi. The breakfast was served with so much care and focused on meeting your every need (and the cooking is very good). Most importantly every single member of the staff was wonderful and caring. They knew us by name on Day 1, attended to every need we had, and welcomed us back with love and care every time we returned to the hotel. Based on location and staff excellence alone I would stay at the Hotel du Lac Signature over any other luxury brand you're considering.

Location is ideal; easy walkable area. Staff goes out of their way to make you feel like you are a welcomed family member. They were very helpful with suggestions on places to eat and see. I also booked a tour through the hotel which was wonderful. I highly recommend the hotel.

Located on a busy side street adjacent to major construction, access to the hotel can be a little problematic with traffic. Sound insulation in the rooms is not perfect. We were on the 9th floor and still heard street noise (as well as guests in adjacent rooms). Decor looks glam in photos but is actually quite tacky and a little cheap looking. That said, room was very clean and very comfortable. Pool and rooftop bar are both really nice and the breakfast buffet was excellent.
