"We were only able to stay one night, but our night at the Vallombrosa vineyard was very peaceful. The hosts were very helpful and kind and were gracious to bring me some emergency supplies. Although the property lies in a beautiful setting, it’s important to note that it takes at least 30 minutes to get to Lugano and the lake by car. "The staff at this hotel were excellent. Having two pools was a bonus as you could use the indoor pool when the outdoor pool was busy. The absence of a bar was a slight disappointment and the rooms were small even by European norms. Dated TVs meant no connectivity of maps.... but who goes on holiday to watch TV? Breakfast was very good too. The location (approx. 200m from Paradiso train station) made things very easy Tip: the number 2 bus will take you from the hotel (stop next to the supermarket) up the hill to the station, else it is a steep trek with luggage. The hotel is also alongside the funicular for Monte San Salvatore Watching the sunset from 900m+ is awesome (and you can buy a beer up there too!) And as with nearly every other hotel in the area, you get a Ticino Ticket that gives you free public transport (except for the ferries) in the Ticino region. We had such a great time we stayed an extra night. Our thanks to the staff at Hotel Admiral."
