"Enchanting hotel that was evident from the time we drove up to the property and until we departed. Staying in a parador is always a treat and this one added an extra special experience looking out from our balcony and walking on the path through by a centuries old castle. Add to this the wonderful staff who met all of our needs to make this an unforgettable stay. We are looking forward to a return stay in the near future!"

"This was an unusual place to stay overnight on our way further South in Spain. The location was accurately given by both Google Maps and Waze. You have to trust them as the approach looks a bit unlikely as you get nearer. May be tricky if arriving in the dark. We were a bit nervous about the entry process using links on our phones but it was all very easy in practice. Just be sure to have mobile signal & power in your battery. We had the place to ourselves so it felt like staying in a huge...

"Great location, close to the cathedral and less than 10 minutes from the bus station. Nearby bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Hotel public areas are very nice but our room was very tired, although very clean and spacious with a comfy bed. Breakfast ok if you just like versions of bread, nothing much else on offer. "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Los Encinares?
The best areas to stay in Los Encinares are the historic Old Town and the more modern Marina District.

The Old Town, or 'Casco Antiguo', is the heart of Los Encinares. It's a labyrinth of narrow, whitewashed streets, often decorated with colourful flowers, leading to charming plazas like Plaza de las Flores. You'll find a wide selection of traditional tapas bars, artisan shops, and boutique hotels tucked away in historic buildings. Many of these hotels offer rooftop terraces with views of the Mediterranean Sea. This area is superb for couples seeking a romantic and authentic Andalusian experience, with plenty of opportunities for leisurely strolls and intimate dinners.

For those who prefer a more contemporary setting with easy access to leisure activities, the Marina District is an excellent choice. This area is built around the bustling marina, where you can watch yachts come and go. It features a promenade lined with upscale restaurants, cafes, and shops, leading directly to the main beach. Hotels here tend to be larger and more modern, often offering amenities like swimming pools and high-end fitness equipment. Families often find the Marina District very convenient due to its proximity to the beach and a wider range of dining options that cater to all ages.
When is the best time to go to Los Encinares?
The best time to visit Los Encinares is generally during the spring (late March to early June) and autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer the most pleasant weather for exploring the region.

Spring in Los Encinares brings mild temperatures, typically ranging from 18°C to 25°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park or exploring the white villages. The countryside is lush and green, and wildflowers are in bloom, creating beautiful scenery. This time is particularly good for couples looking for scenic walks and comfortable dining outdoors.

Autumn also provides agreeable weather, with temperatures similar to spring, usually between 20°C and 28°C. The intense summer heat has passed, and the landscape takes on a warm, golden hue. This season is great for those interested in cultural tours and enjoying the local gastronomy, as the harvest season is in full swing. It's a relaxed time for travellers who appreciate comfortable conditions for sightseeing without the summer crowds.

While summer (July and August) can be very hot, with temperatures often exceeding 35°C, it's a good option for those who specifically want to enjoy the local lakes and swimming pools, or who prefer a livelier holiday atmosphere. However, many outdoor activities become less comfortable during the midday heat. Conversely, winter (November to March) is cooler and can be wet, though it's generally mild compared to northern Europe.
