I stayed here for 1 week with my boyfriend. We are in our late 30's. We went during Spring Break and were worried the property would have teenagers partying the entire time. It was nice and quiet, property provided daily and nightly entertainment to guests. The main pool entertainer was so amazing and funny. All staff were friendly. Normally I get sick at resorts from the food/drinks. I had zero issues at this resort. Food was great at all buffets. The sushi dinner the service was really slow, I recommend not going starving as you will be waiting 1.5 hour for your drinks and food. Its worth upgrading to the ocean view as it's closer walking distance to the pool and main food areas. Rooms above the lobby bar we were told complained about the noise at night. There is no free room service which was upsetting, you have to pay extra if you want that. And you cannot take buffet food to your room. I took apples and bananas from breakfast to have in the room as a snack though... Overall I'd recommend this resort. Right on the water. Close to other shops and restaurants outside of the resort if you choose to explore. Safe area.

My favorite part of the resort was easily the staff. The Buffett could use some work but olas was good. If you want a relaxing experience it’s a great spot. Really gets quite at 7pm for the most part.

I liked the layout of the property. I don't have kids and I was worried I would feel over-run by them but there was plenty of room - I especially enjoyed the adults only pool however, you had to get up early to get a spot. I liked the food options however getting reservations is tough and frustrating when trying to combine people from several rooms. The check in process was very tough. They were confused on the number of people (6) and who was in which room. It eventually was figured out but it was not fun. In addition, the check out process was not explained, I knew we needed to "check out" by 11 but were able to remain on the property and sit at the pool longer. We were not informed if we didn't actually go to the front desk and check out that we would be charged an additional $28 per person. The resort had only 4 of the 6 of us with the "Expedia VIP" status which included a bottle of wine so, two of the rooms (4 of the 6) people received the benefits. We didn't bother trying to figure it out, we just wanted to enjoy our trip.

On the positive-Smaller resort, partial ocean view, food was good and staff friendly. On the negative- Front desk staff didn’t communicate the best, for example said we only had 3 a la carte reservations when we had 4. Schedule for events weren’t accurate and entertainment was below average. Not much to do after shows.

10/10 hotel. I loved the overall stay experience. Family friendly, safe for the family. I can’t think of any bad experience with this hotel. Drink were amazing, my husband and I really took advantage of the beer and mix drinks. Customer service was excellent. Specialty restaurants the Mexican and Italian were delicious

Love the size of the resort. Not too big not too small. Great pools, beautiful grounds, decent food amazing staff. Love that it is in a super walkable location. Felt very safe at all times.

We really enjoyed our stay at Barceló. It’s a smaller resort but wasn’t crowded. The food was decent. We enjoyed the Italian restaurant. Carlos and Jesus were amazing, funny and provided great service. The pool had lots of fun activities. Steps from the beach. Would definitely stay here again.

The thing that the property is on the beach was great. Big property but need to be upgraded. Few things didn’t like: AC unit wasn’t working properly in the room. Hot tubs not working. Pool average, not well cleaned. Ice maker machine in floor, wasn’t working properly in each floor. We weren’t provided with an itinerary of events. The city charge for eco friendly fee but in not that clean.

Premium upgrade is definitely worth it. Felipe took care of us at the Premium bar. Room was always clean. All amenities available. Turn down service was a perk. View from balcony was amazing listening to the waves crashing.

I didn’t like the service since i got there Jose Garcia gave us the worst welcome and didn’t help us with are needs or anythinglike other hotels i stayed at. We requested a roller bed that never got into Monday and cause i requested it from another associate name Javier. I honestly didn’t want to ask for anything after that. Food is okay not what i expected. Breakfast is the same every morning also lunch. Drinks where not the best either i honestly wouldn't return or would recommend it to anyone.

This was a horrible experience. When a hotel holds themselves out to offer a Premium experience and All-Inclusive accommodations, they set an expectation. When you charge a lot of money for that, there is an unspoken contract. I feel robbed. Let’s start with never (not once) having a server offer to get me drinks, and worse, once I got up and poured my own coffee, they never offered to refill it (this is typical of the resort’s inability to anticipate and prepare). Next, the food is horrible. There’s never any condiments or salsa at breakfast. The pool is the last item- horrible planning. It’s like a hotel from the 70’s. There’s better places until this place gets some work done.

The hotel package was not cheap and was all-inclusive, but left a lot to be desired. The food was absolutely horrible - tasteless and poorly prepared. Never once did a server refill my coffee (buy 50 small coffee pots and put those on the tables). Additionally, the layout of the swimming pool area was a complete disaster. It was cramped and poorly designed, making it difficult to relax and enjoy the pool. Overall, my experience at this hotel was disappointing and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. If you got the cheap deal, and you stay in the small rooms with A/C not working, then maybe you will have lower expectations.

The property was great, pools were nice to relax in. It is right on the beach which is what I wanted was to be able to walk on the beach each morning. Only downside was the hot tub heaters where not working.

The staff was excellent and very friendly. Marvin, the manager of the restaurants went above and beyond to make our dining experience amazing! Jorge always made sure our Pepsi Lights were always topped up! The pool temps were perfect except the hot tub lost its heater the last 4 days of our stay. The entertainers put on great shows at night. The food was good. The weather was perfect. We will stay at the Barcelo Gran Faro again!

We reserved a King size ocean view room, handicap accessible. View was limited view d/t palm trees. We waited 45 min plus to check in. We were told a Scooter could be set up. The front desk had no clue what a Scooter was. Took another 30 min to get info and reservation for the Scooter. Room itself was a dated hotel room. Restaurants were a joke! There was only 1 place to get breakfast/lunch with the exception of a snack bar. If you did not make reservations for one of the 3 restaurants for dinner, you had only 1 option for a buffet. Food was very subpar! Getting a pool chair was next to impossible unless you secured one early in the morning. Day 1 we asked for a chair at the towel area. We were told "no chair". We had to go to the lobby to ask for one! We went to the snack bar to ask where to get one. Again, told "no chair". We then went to the lobby to ask them. They redirected us to where we initially started. The two attendants behind the towel area were useless. One kept smiling and laughing and eventually Psst us! I asked for mgr. They could not find one. I eventually asked the activities ppl Jared/Abraham (they were fantastic) regarding mgmt. They could direct us to their mgr. Long story short, we were promised a chair every morning. Never happened. We just got up and claimed one ourselves. Umbrellas were the same. It says its a kid friendly resort. Very limited for kids! Food was only in 1 location for them Most staff do not speak English enough to understand you.

The property is beautiful and clean. How ever they need to improve on the food flavor and variety. Also entertainment needs to improve so they can bring life to the resort .. the Bar on the tower needs updating and need to play todays music to bring it alive.. if they fix this two areas OMG this can be a 10 star resort.

The only negative. The japanese restaurant wasnt so good. And the top bar could be amazing but they need to clean the windows and do more promoting to make it fun there

Staff and property are really great Only issue we had was the food. Most of the buffet food was warm if you were lucky, Specialty restaurants onsite were just ok.

The views from both the pool and rooms were amazing, if you get chairs by the infinity pool you can see whales basically every day. Service was good majority of the time, however some restaurants you had to work a little extra to get the servers attention but once you asked they were quick to help. Room was cleaned daily and very quick. The activity instructors, specifically Abraham and Melissa were amazing, definitely recommend water aerobics and stretching with them daily. The nightly shows were nice but nothing super impressive. The food was the main let down, breakfast and lunch were good with there being hot stations -omelettes and crepes for breakfast, and rotating hot stations like meat, pasta, tacos etc for lunch. However, the buffet food was often cold and the specialty restaurants were nothing special.
