We had a great time over the 4th, fishing, boating and eating! The queen bunks were great, very comfortable and the cabin had everything we needed. We loved being able to bring our dogs up and enjoy the pontoon for a day. Would totally stay here again!
We loved our stay! The water views were gorgeous and the beds were so comfy! The kitchen is stocked with anything you would need. I had an assignment at the hospital and was a short 8 min away. Highly recommend!
The cabin is so beautiful nearby the lake with amazing view to relax and unwind. The kids having fun and enjoying themselves running around and my dog also having a good time in the cabin chilling.
We really enjoyed staying at "the cabin" as we called it, didn't get to do many activities as we were in Clarissa for a memorial for my mother to be laid to rest. Would love to come back and stay another time and do some fishing and other fun activities! Very peaceful and quiet location!
We had a great visit with family over Thanksgiving! It was a perfect place for us to gather and share a holiday meal, pie and card games. We had beautiful sunrises and sunsets! Also enjoyed seeing the migrating geese gathering on the lake then flying off at sunset. Thanks!
This cabin was so amazing for a friends lake weekend! Plenty of bed space, comfy beds, gorgeous large windows, amazing yard, fire pit, nice swimming area and dock, and great living room/kitchen space. Also close to town for any things needed. We spent almost all of our time outside playing games, it was perfect! The host was so responsive to questions and so helpful. Would recommend this place to others!
My group was looking for an off the beaten path rental for a weekend away and this place was just what we wanted. It was well furnished, easy to find, and quiet. Clean up was easy and it was priced well, too.
A few things that could have been better:
- it was unclear whether the dock was owned/part of the property, or if using it meant trespassing.
- the smoker was great but struggled to consistently heat. I’d recommend a small propane or charcoal grill.
- a little more privacy from the neighbors was never promised but we under estimated how exposed the front yard is.
- there were quite a few black flies in the cabin, a few flytraps could go a long way.
In short this was a solid rental and we’d return in the future without hesitation.
Arrived on Sat. for a 5 night stay. party included 7 adults, a young child, a German Shepard and a small dog.
We had very nice weather--sunny and warm. Check-in was simple, and Jake was friendly and available by phone for questions within minutes. The kitchen was really well equipped, including a Ninja multi-use pot.
Latimer Lake very pretty, and great for swimming off the pontoon. Pontoon was fantastic to rent, but we spent a while prepping it (covered in cobwebs) and 30 min. for two men to raise it over the lift due to water level of lake. We loved that it remained available for renting a second day.
Fire pit area was beautiful; plentiful games in closet, and 2 kayaks were a nice bonus.
Bathrooms/showers great! The frogs at night were hilarious! Neighbors with dogs around us until Sunday eve, then the whole area became very private for the remainder of our stay.
Air conditioning and wi-fi were our biggest issues. Main floor was ok for the most part, but upstairs was hot, and made sleeping very difficult.
Wi-fi wasn't good: two had to work, or for watching TV in the eve.
Unfortunate was the once-a-week garbage pick up. Had to store our stuff in shed until day 4 because prior guests had over-filled the bins.
Cozy and fun place! We enjoyed the easy access to the lake and the well-equipped kitchen. The area feels nice and secluded, perfect for a summer getaway.
We loved this house so much! It's cozy and spacious at the same time. The setting is beautiful and you don't feel close to town, but it's just a 7 minute drive away if you need anything.
We loved this place! The cabin is spacious, with a well-stocked kitchen. We enjoyed the fire pit and the short walk down to the lake. The owner is helpful and responsive.
We were honored to be Jake's first guests at this cozy cabin! It was a wonderful place to get a change of scenery, read, and work on our latest puzzle. Thanks to the huge windows across the front of the cabin, the view of Latimer Lake was awesome!
It was perfect one-level living for a couple, but the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom would readily welcome family or friend groups. The kitchen had everything we could ask for and then some.
Jake was an excellent host! He responded quickly to texts, helped resolve any issues we had, and welcomed any and all of our suggestions (e.g., adding instructions for the Smart thermostat and TVs). It's clear that Jake enjoys hosting, and looks forward to further enhancing the property and his guests' experience.
Thanks for a great stay!
We had a great long weekend in July 2025.PROS - Kitchen is great. Air conditioning is strong in the main room. Beds were comfortable, plenty of sleeping room. Main level master is plenty spacious. The 2 upstairs bedrooms have queen bunks - queen top and bottom. Bathrooms had body wash and shampoo. Plenty of towels were available. Indoor rocking chairs were comfy, along with the sectional. TV worked. Campfire pit was great. Canoe and kayaks had paddles and were available for free, which was awesome. Lake had a dozen loons. Host is very responsive to any/all questions. Pet friendly.CONS - Air conditioning is not strong in the bedrooms, they were a bit hot to sleep in. Each room does have a floor fan available. Electric grill did not work for me. Floors upstairs were a bit squeaky, which is audible up and downstairs.Overall our group of 6 adult family members had a very nice weekend, and I'd recommend this cabin.
Celebration of Life for Mother Father Grandparents and Great Grandparents
We had the ceiling fan not working. Property
owner had an electrician out to fix. With the heat it so helped to cool the room. Still the light over dining area needs to be repaired. Just a fyi. We had plenty of tp , towels, soap dishwasher and hand. It was very awesome not to add that to groceries list. We had lots of room to entertain family and friends to reminse and grieve plus all with in miles of their childhood home. Thanks the Schaubhut's
Jake was amazing and was super welcoming, helpful, and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed - and more. We didn't get time to get out on the pontoon - but that will be next time! :) We truly used our time relaxing, brought our golf cart and rode all over viewing the beautiful area - even riding into Long Prairie for ice cream at the DQ. Local Long Prairie places were also super friendly, great food at the Thunder Lodge too! We really enjoyed our time at the cabin and THANK YOU JAKE!! You have an awesome, peaceful, beautiful property! We hope to be back again soon!
Beautiful A frame and a nice quiet location. Great layout, plenty of room for the four of us, and comfortable beds. Latimer Lake is a gem! We were pleasantly surprised how quiet it was as well on the water, much better than some of the other bigger, developed lakes around MN. Was a plus to be able to rent the pontoon as well as use the kayaks and floaties.
