We loved staying here! It was perfect. Enough in the woods to relax and close enough to everything. The hot tub & it being dog friendly really made our stay. Also very clean!
The original cabin we rented(wildwoods) had a hot tub that was cold. So we notified Kim, and she upgraded us to a much bigger cabin with a working hot tub. Thank you for a great stay!
The trash at the corner of Phelps Rd doesn’t give a very good first impression but overall the cabin was very nice and we enjoyed the hot tub. This was our 2nd stay at a Blue Rose cabin. We will be back again.
This was a great stay. If you are looking for a pot with in minutes from Hocking Hills Blue Rose Cabins are worth checking into. The only trouble we had was, my car was unable to get u the washed out road with huge stones. I called and they were happy to put us in a empty cabin.
Took a friend for a mini vacation and we stayed in the wild rose cabin for a night. It was an amazing relaxing little get away. My only concern is the drive up the hill. We had no problems getting there in her jeep but my car would have never made it. To be honest we appreciated the remote stay just would have liked a heads up on the drive.
Small yet all you need for an overnight getaway! Pet friendly was appreciated! Hot tub was clean and a highlight. Make sure you have at least all wheel drive and in winter 4 wheel drive. Steep driveway but worth it.
We stayed in the Wildwoods cabin which was very secluded and peaceful. As others have stated the road terrain is a little rough but not horrible. Bed was extreamly comfortable and even thought there is no cable we watched DVD,s and was able to smart view our cellphone using our AT&T service and the smart. Hot tub was amazing! Could have used just a few more kitchen bakeware. Would recommend this cabin!
We were pleased with the place. Quiet and comfortable. The single room accomodations fit out needs. I would suggest change out the carpet you use on the front step and back deck. They were not outside carpets so they were drenched and dirty. Otherwise we were very comfortable.
The cabin was clean and nice. Quiet and serene. We saw deer on the check in and as we were leaving in the morning. It was austere with no internet/wifi. The road up to the cabin is very hilly and difficult. We were there in perfect weather and in a truck and we wondered how we would get to the cabin in difficult weather. The road is noted on the confirmation, but I don't recall if it is noted as a warning before confirmation.
It was pleasant, there were a few things that could be improved. More lighting over the range for cooking, the outside grill was broken.😞 Maybe a small chest drawer to put clothes in. Paint the fridge and explain to guests that you will need 4x4 wheel drive to navigate the hills and inclines. Bed was uncomfortable 😣 HOT TUB was the Highlight of our stay!!! I would refer to friends and others!
The hot tub was the high light. We sat in it at night and looked up at all of the stars twinkling.
The cabin is small, but sufficient. The temp was set at 60*when we arrived, but it was a small so it heated it up quickly. It had a cute little "fire place" heater. I think it had room for a queen bed, instead of the full size. There was not a lot of support in the bed. I'm glad I only slept there one night.

Cute, but not comfy
The cabin is perfect for two people. Great location and view. I have no qualms with the cabin itself. The bed was terrible to sleep on. It was not big enough for two people (maybe a full size mattress) and was not comfortable. It felt like I was sleeping on a futon or a cot. This was super disappointing after one day of exploring and needing rest for the second day of exploring. They’re also not kidding about needing a 4x4 to get to the cabin. We almost didn’t make it and we stayed in June.
Overall, my partner and I had a wonderful weekend stay. Unfortunately, we had some complaints. The first being the very poor shower lighting; a small can light would do the space wonders. Second, was the quality of the cooking pans/utensils. The cookware was badly scratched and the utensils need replaced with something silicone or wooden. There was also a lack of counter space. The living area could benefit greatly from an end table or a small coffee table. Just as well the right side of the bed could also benefit from a small nightstand like the one on the other side of the bed. The entrance could also use some hooks for coats or an entire coat rack. Besides what I covered above, the location was great. Located only a few minutes from Logan, everything is easily accessible. The space was very clean. The hot tub was clean and was perfect for a snowy weekend. I would definitely suggest staying here. Just make sure you have a AWD vehicle as the roads are poorly graveled and the drainage is very lackluster. If it rains or snows, the roads are a muddy/icy mess.
We knew this cabin was small and rustic, and it fit our needs for a two night stay okay. But other than the exterior photos, the pictures of this cabin on the VRBO website were not of Wildwoods and we were not expecting what we got. The cabin is only one-room with a separate toilet room and a shower in the corner of the main room. It was not a separate bathroom. The deck was small (the hot tub took up most of the room) and the two chairs were plastic chairs you'd find in a church basement for fellowship meetings. The gas grill and hot tub worked perfectly and we enjoyed both on both nights. We also had a fire both nights in the fire ring. The road getting to the cabin is one-lane gravel (thank goodness we didn't encounter a car coming the opposite direction) and at some points is at quite a steep grade. My husband had to do some maneuvering to get up the hills in our Camry, but we made it. 4 wheel drive would have helped.
I want to start off by specifying, We by no means are fancy people! This cabin would be perfect for maybe a single man staying to go hunting but not for a couple. First off we have a suv and were nervous driving to the cabin, if we had to pass a vehicle it would have been very difficult. Once arriving to the cabin we quickly realized the pictures online are not of this cabin! The bed is terrible, the fridge is tiny if you are planning to bring a bunch of your own food to cook. The toilet is in a closet so after doing your business you have to come out of the closet to wash your hands. The shower is just in the corner of the room so zero privacy to get in or out of the shower. (The towels are terrible, might be ok for toddler or tiny person) We did use the grill but it looks like it’s cold die any day. We spent 5 hours out at the fire pit which is nice enough. The hot tub was function and nice. The cabin is not cozy at all. It got us by but will never be back!!
The property is a beautiful piece of land, however you have to enter in from rt 664 passing a very nasty looking junkyard/home that borders the cabins property. The cabins were as clean as can be expected for in the woods. We wiped down counters and things we used prior to us using it. The hot tub looked brand new and was operational. The appliances were rusty, the bathroom sink area had broken caulking around it, the bed was almost on the floor and very uncomfortable, the couch was leatherette covered with a cloth cover because of ripped arms and back, the kitchenette table was ok, the chairs would not hold a large person, the back deck was private and uncovered, the front porch was covered. The roads in were uncared for and full of terrible pot holes, trash all along the sides and broken glass on one stretch. The road in is in/out with a tight turn around at the bottom of a steep hill. Large trucks fit, but tight. It is very quiet there, just could use some TLC in our opinion and definitely some clean up and road maintenance.
Overall, a cozy little cabin for 2! The hot tub was nice and hot (104 degrees), everything was provided - kitchen ware/utensils, towels, DVD player with movies, and other necessities like a broom, garbage bags, rags, dish soap, etc. Reached out to the property manager and got a response right away. Very helpful and accommodating. ***** Just a heads up *****There isn’t any WiFi in the cabin and the location is pretty remote so cell service is bad. However, they provide WiFi hotspots you can pick up. This is detailed in the check in instructions they send you. The road up to the cabins are a single car road and are very steep at times. Being that it’s winter, the roads were icy. We seen so many people get stuck trying to come down/up the hills near us. Some people couldn’t even make it down their driveway so they parked on the side of the path. If you don’t have all wheel drive, I wouldn’t recommend staying here in the winter! The GPS will most likely take you to the wrong place initially. It took us to a private campground behind our actual cabin entrance. They send instructions on how to get there in the check in information, also.
This cabin was perfect for out weekend getaway. Just a few miles from the state park, which is free to visit and dog friendly. The cabin location was secluded for the most part. We could see our neighbors car and hear voices but thats it. We loved our time away from home and our dog loved running through the woods. The hot tub was hot and clean and AMAZING! We plan on going back in the spring.
Recommendation:
4WD is a good idea. Parts of the driveway were pretty steep. While we were at the park hiking it rained and the rocks were slippery and wet. Had to use 4WD to get back to the cabin.
Bring a few towels. Towels were provided but we used them and the few i brought with us also.
Oven is tiny so dont plan on baking anything too big.
Blanket on the bed is thin. Temp got down to 45 and im glad i brought another blanket. There is a heater but we like to sleep in the cold with extra blankets.
Only 2 chairs on the deck and 2 at the fire ring so you might want to bring a few more if you are planning on visitors.
Follow the directions that come in the email sent by the owners. GPS will take you to the wrong place. Also, dont try to find the driveway in the dark. Its the mountains so the roads are full of curves and hills so it can be pretty tricky if you dont know where you are going.
Cell service is spotty. Its the mountains so thats to be expected. No wifi at the cabin.
Overall these cabins are nice and clean and a great price. We will visit again.
