"Avoid! I stayed in a single room on the second floor of this pub. The room was very tired/shabby and in desperate need of a deep clean. Old carpet fraying around the edges, dirty splashes up the wall, etc. Sloping, creaking floor. The mattress was old and uncomfortable - springs dig into you all night. I’m always wary of non-white towels and bed linen as cleanliness is never as good - it’s dark grey towels here and grey bed linen. Thin pillows and duvet. And the TV didn’t work. I now see there are lots of reviews saying that same. The response from the hotel is always to say something when you’re there but I can’t see how that would make any difference as the whole place is like this. There was a gap under the room door so I could, sadly. hear other guests easily. The door did a lock but it’s definitely not fire-safe. If this was a Travelodge if would be shut down as no one would put up with how run down it is. And this place cost me more than a Travelodge. Positives: There’s a small hotel/pub car park at the back and a Spar (grocery shop) opposite. The pub does serve food (but I got a pizza from a nearby cafe). I do not recommend this place. I received two WhatsApp messages from scammers who got my data from the hotel’s insecure system. I reported it to the hotel via email and they didn’t respond. I also reported it to Expedia and they were concerned and raised a report. The scammers knew my full name, and the dates I was staying at Gwesty’r Plas Coch Hotel, Bala."

"Staff attentative and made this a very pleasant stay; from the free room upgrade on arrival to the substantial breakfast. Room nicely decorated with plush carpet. Hotel dining area nicely furnished with wooden floors and loads of interesting pictures. Diolch yn fawr"

"Lovely cottage in rural location, easy to find and has a gated driveway so no parking problems. Very quiet road, barely saw another a car! Lovely garden around the whole property just we weren't 100% sure that it would contain our terrier as one side is hedgerow and she would of found the smallest gap! Plenty of space, well equipped kitchen, lovely welcome gifts, particularly the cake and milk in the fridge, log burner was nice and got the lounge nice and cosy unfortunately not the rest of the house and opening doors instantly let all the cold in, heating controls were locked so couldn't change the temperature and on a timer so the house never got fully warm, particularly the rear hallway which was always freezing cold.Beds were not that comfortable but I like a soft bed so that's just my preference, but it meant I didn't sleep well.Overall we had a lovely stay, in a great location for exploring up and down the coast and Dolgellau is a lovely town.1/2 hr to Barmouth perfect for a day out particularly if you have dogs for the beach for them to play on, in the winter.Would definitely stay again if beds, heating and garden issue addressed."

"It is a lovingly extended stone cottage between a fast moving stream with a view and a country road. A very well equipped home from home , a perfect base for up to 4 ppl to explore the area. The owner is very responsive, and found her more reliable than the company managing the property.the "
