My family was thrilled with our stay at Coral Cottage! Our thanks to Richie, Jo, Rona, and the whole team for a truly special stay in which we felt like family. Highlights include the bonfire by the water, homemade cricket bats courtesy of Richie, and an excellent Christmas dinner. We hope to return in the future!
Thanks to Richie, Miss Jo and the ladies for taking great care of us at Coral Cottage. We loved the pool by the sea. The home cooked meals were nothing short of amazing.
We absolutely loved staying in Little Bay. Everyone was so nice and attentive. We cannot wait to go back.
Our family of five had a wonderful stay at Coral Cottage. From the moment we arrived, Richie, Yanike, and Miss Jo made us feel right at home. Our favorite parts were the amazing meals, the relaxing pool area, easy access to the ocean and snorkeling, and the nearby Bob Marley Mineral Springs.
It is important to know that it takes some time to get to Coral Cottage on rough roads and this is very different than a resort experience, but it will give you a small taste for authentic Jamaican hospitality. We truly loved our three nights there and did not want to leave.
We had such a blast at the Coral Cottage! Richie and Ben where both wonderful and very quick to respond to any question or request we had. Our group consisted of 4 adults and 7 children aged between 9 and 13. Only one of the children was a boy, but he loves fishing and Richie was kind enough to go hunt bait for him each morning so that he had plenty to fish with. We caught several fish and that part was so much fun. The girls all loved jumping from the small cliff into the ocean, they would still be jumping if they could. We had them cook a seafood curry for us the first day we arrived and it was one of the most delicious home cooked meals I've ever had! The property is absolutely gorgeous and has many different fruit trees which always made for a delicious snack. Richie drove us when we had to get groceries, took us on a hike to a mineral spring, a cave, and to their elementary school... He just did everything he could to make our trip memorable and wonderful. There are so many more things I could say, but mainly I can't thank the entire Coral Cottage team enough for their attention to detail and helping make this trip so wonderful!
We just returned from a 6 day stay at Coral Cottage, and it was a wonderful experience for us and our three teenager daughters. The house and the grounds are immaculately kept by Richie, and the privacy afforded by the house is superb. And that view! Yes, you have to take a short walk to get to the pool and ocean area, but it is truly spectacular.
Richie made our trip absolutely wonderful. He was available for everything we needed and more and even took time to give us a private tour of some of Little Bay's local treasures. We had a great time seeing the bat cave and the Bob Marley swimming hole. Richie also arranged for us to have an amazing 4 course meal made for us on Thanksgiving. The food was out of this world, and we felt so cared for by those who helped us.
Clearly one large party decided to blast this small local business on Google reviews. Shame on them for taking their own poor behavior out on Richie and his staff. Nothing that any of them stated (from 3 months ago as you view reviews) is even remotely true to the experience we had. Richie could not have been more kind or accommodating and anyone who has said otherwise is clearly trying to cause harm to Richie and his business. Don't listen to those reviews! Perhaps that party should have done their research or taken the time to better plan their own vacation.
If you are looking to experience true Jamaica away from the resorts, this is the place to stay. Yes the road are tough to navigate and yes the immediate area
While we enjoyed our time in Little Bay (the people are so nice!) there are some things you need to consider when renting this house. There are 6 bedrooms and it could likely sleep 14. We had a group of 10 and rented a 15 passenger van in Montego Bay after spending 3 nights in Ocho Rios for my wedding. The road to the house is rough. Be prepared to go slow. There is parking at the house. Richie lives in the house as well and met us on our arrival and gave us a tour of the grounds. All bedrooms are air conditioned. There is a 10 deposit per key to your bedroom. There are beach towels at the property, but you must get them from Richie. Laundry is 15/ load. There is 50 gallons of hot water. Hot water is solar powered so the weather determines how hot your water will be for the day. You cannot drink the tap water and we were told before arrival “we recommend grabbing some water while at the supermarket. we do have drinking water available to guests, however, we’ve found that each group is different in their needs”There is NOT any drinking water available at the house. We brought 15L and quickly needed more water. Richie will sell you drinking water: 5Gallons for 12 or you can walk down to the store down the road where they sell bread and water (make sure you have cash- they take USD). Make sure to stop and get groceries on your way to the house! You have to walk to the pool from the house. WiFi does not reach out to the pool. Not a big deal, but something we wished

Beautiful place, nice gracious locals, private, but 20 mins from Negril
Richie does a great job of maintaining the large, lush, private grounds. All the comforts of home, in the jamicaican countryside of Little Bay. The place has a private cliff/ snorkling/swimming area, full kitchen, and comfortable beds. View of ocean from bedrooms / deck/ roof patio !! If you want culture not tourism this is for youGreat swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing, just no beach. Ladder into beautiful ocean heavenly
We had the priviledge of a short stay. Ritchie and the crew were Great!. We had 2 delicious Jamaican meals. Travelers should know this is out of town quite a ways. The property is lovely, quiet and relaxing. The pool is nice and refreshing. We did not enter the ocean as we felt we could not safely tackle that level of wave movement.
Coral Cottage is a wonderful property off the tourist path. The property is well kept, and offers enough room options that all the members of our family and friends group could be together when we wanted and have a private space when it was needed. The community patio on the 2nd floor was our favorite gathering space, outside of the private pool that looked out over the ocean. Coral Cottage also allowed us to connect with Jamaica -- we had lots of privacy at the property, but were close to several sights we had hoped to visit. The on-site host, Richie stayed busy keeping up the property (including some gorgeous gardens), and was a font of knowledge regarding the area. He went above and beyond to help us when we encountered troubles, like delayed flights and a slowly deflating tire on our rental car. The other staff at the house -- Shanni, Younique, Joe, and Natasha -- make Coral Cottage a home and you should not miss out on their traditional Jamaican home cooking. We ate breakfast and several dinners at the house and there was not a single thing on the menu that disappointed. Indeed, our only disappointment was that we couldn't get in the ocean at the house, as the water was rough while we were there!
Our stay at Coral Cottage was exceptional on every level. From the moment we arrived our kind host Richie exuded warmth and incredible hospitality. Despite the fact that we arrived a bit later than anticipated, Richie was gracious in showing us the entire property and detailing each feature. The property itself is pretty fantastic and includes the main house with multiple bedrooms, a full kitchen, outdoor dining/entertaining area and a rooftop sitting area that you can see the water from. There are also individual bungalows just a few steps from the house so that guests can enjoy their own cozy private space to stay. We had the option to have a staff cook meals for us (you reserve meals in advance) and we took full advantage of that. The meals were all authentic Jamaican home-cooked and I can't emphasize enough just how absolutely delicious each meal tasted! Within very close proximity are some great attractions such as the Blue Hole (you can jump 25 feet into a natural spring!) JamWest Motorsports & Adventure Park. You can also walk (with Richie's guidance) to the Bat Caves and the Bob Marley Mineral Spring. Even with all these options we chose to spend most days of our Spring Break just relaxing by the nice pool overlooking Little Bay or going down the steps and jumping off the cliff into the beautiful pristine water and swimming and snorkeling around exploring the inlets.
Please understand this is not for those expecting a Beaches or Sandals all-inclusive stay. To us, this was a much more authentic Jamaican experience in the best possible way. We loved it, we loved our host and the Coral Cottage staff and we will be back in 2024.
Coral Cottage was perfect for our mixed group. We had some young adults, some middle aged adults, and some older adults, and Coral Cottage is laid out perfectly so that each group got the type of room they needed. Each bedroom having its own bathroom made a huge difference to keeping peace among everyone! The air conditioning worked great for every room, which would have been an issue for us. The hot water wasn't always available for showers but dude you're in Jamaica. If that's your only problem then you don't have a problem.
We loved how connected we felt to the outdoors at Coral Cottage. We spent very little time inside four walls, and that is part of why we loved it here. The music from nearby bars was a little annoying, but also was part of the lively vibe of Jamaica that we loved. It was our first time in Jamaica and all the local noises - which also includes a lot of wildlife - really made us feel like we were immersed in the "real" Jamaica. We are not the type to hide away in an all-inclusive resort.
To be honest Coral Cottage is better than an all-inclusive. The food the staff cooked was amazing, and we had our own seaside pool to ourselves. The staff was extremely patient, friendly, and efficient. Richie is the guy to know, he had the perfect answer to every question we asked!
The only advice we would give is don't rent a low-clearance vehicle like we did because the local roads near the cottage are a little rough. Our overloaded van couldn't clear some of the ruts and the younger folks had to get out a few times so we could clear some particularly dicey bits. But to be honest those are some of our favorite memories because it was so silly!
We will definitely be coming back.
The house was just as amazing as the pictures! The staff on site were also perfect!
We had a great time during our stay! Richie was great, as was Shane (driver) and the cooking staff.
The peacefulness of the country side is what our family needed!
My only recommendation is to have bottled water onsite
We went thru 7 cases in a week which is a lot of bottles. The power grid goes down (AC with it) regularly so I'd invest in solar power given the amount of sun there! Small things for a Jamaican paradise.
Don't book excursions without first talking to Shane. We saved a ton and got to see more of Jamaica by using his service!
We visited Jamaica twice previously, staying a an all-inclusive resort. The Coral Cottage is the true Jamaica experience. We had nine in our group ranging in age from10 to 72. Some visiting Jamaica for the first time. Everyone had a great time
Our experience was incredible. The property, the ocean, the infinity pool, the guest rooms and of course the incredible food. Richie and the staff treated us like family and could not have been more gracious and hospitable.
We will be back!
Met great people. Enjoyed our stay. Richie was such a sweetheart. A great help and also his aunt was wonderful. Shane and his family was such a delight and helpful. The only thing was the internet. Pool view was gorgeous and peaceful will definitely going back. Food was great. Great company. And great fun at movie night. Great to meet ugly
We had a perfect vacation at Coral Cottage! The location is excellent, tucked away in the countryside but right on the water. We enjoyed the sun-filled rooms, the luscious tropical gardens, and the idyllic waterfront. The goats in the road, the cock's crowing at dawn and the constant music in the air gave us the sense of tranquility and bliss we so needed. The swimming is the best ever, plunging into deep and transparent water right off the rocks. We made our own delicious meals with fresh, local ingredients like fish and octopus bought straight from the local fishing boats and fresh eggs from Richie's chicken coop. Richie is a great host, caring and dedicated, and a hard worker, which is why the place is so well tended. We absolutely loved our stay!

Epic Family Vacation
To begin, Coral Cottage is a lovely property with stunning views. It is immaculately maintained inside and out. The interior boasts of beautiful woodwork from the interior doors and ceilings to lovely tilework in the bathrooms. The gardens outside are natural in their beauty with many trees and plants bursting with edible fruit lovingly prepared for us by Shanny and “Mom”.
Richie was the ultimate host and made our vacation an “experience” none of our family is likely to forget. He was always available to offer guidance and help us enjoy all that Coral Cottage and Little Bay has to offer. Richie helped us shop at the fish market and at the grocery store and helped us prepare a spectacular seafood dinner Jamaican-style. He was happy to educate us about island life when we asked questions and made sure all was perfect for us to enjoy the pool and sea each day! We also enjoyed the pool area at night while star gazing and listening to the waves.
We ventured out onto the road on foot and in our rental van quite often and found the local people to be very happy and hospitable.
I speak for all seven of our family when I say that I would highly recommend visiting Coral Cottage and enjoy all that it has to offer. We had many adventures but also found plenty of time to soak up the sun and spectacular views. I can’t imagine a better place to make wonderful memories!!!

Unbelievable Treasure!
For anyone looking to get away from the sterile all inclusive Jamaica experience, look no further. Coral Cottage was absolutely beautiful nestled in a remote town on the oceanside. The house is incredible, situated in a little garden oasis with an outside bar and rooftop deck. Richie was such a great host and does an amazing job of cultivating an immersive experience and pays careful attention to make sure all of your needs are met. The food prepared by the chef was fresh and expertly crafted Jamaican cuisine and the rooms were immaculate and comfortable. We had an awesome experience thanks to all of the hard work of Richie and the staff there.

Good rental for a REAL Jamaican getaway experience in Little Bay!!
Our family of nine spent a week at Coral Cottage celebrating 50 years of marriage. The location is about 40 minutes south of Negril. The home is unique with beautiful surroundings, not really luxurious but charming in a good way. The two bedrooms upstairs are very nice with big baths. The two bedrooms downstairs smaller. The lookout on top is up a pretty tricky stairway, but has a great view. Our teenage grandchildren loved seeing all the animals, doves, rabbits, roosters, goats, cats and dogs. They learned more in one week than probably a year of school about Island life and Jamaican people. We enjoyed our first dinner of Jerk chicken and fixings that Ritchie and Mama prepared for us. The pool is a short walk and is on a beautiful cliff (that everyone enjoyed jumping from). We spent every other day there. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The second evening we purchased local Bonita (Tuna) to cook and it was delicious! We rented cars in Negril and went to the beach at Treehouse Resort on 7 mile beach a few times. Ritchie is the very helpful manager and took us to see the Blue Hole, Bat cave and Mineral Springs on Bob Marleys old house property very close to Coral Cottage. We were sad to say goodbye ,but all said we had a FUN time. Keep in mind that we have traveled all over Mexico and the Caribbean so one has to be able to adapt to different cultures. This is very secluded and the drive was not easy. A plus is no one got sick from any water or food(which is an always in Mexico or Dominican Republic)!! If complete seclusion and relaxation is your goal with friendly gracious Jamaicans then Coral Cottage will not disappoint. Thank you to everyone, it was an adventure to remember for all of us!!

Amazing Coral Cottage
We spent 7 wonderful days at Coral Cottage with Diana, Romaine, Ponco "grandma" and Mim. The house is set off the beaten path, but not too hard to find. You have access to the sea not far from the house, where you can jump in and swim as much as you would like. We chose to cook a lot of our meals, so Diana even traded some recipes with us. We had a blast in the small community of Little Bay staying about a 5 minute walk from Bob Marley's vacation home, Boot will tell you all about it. If you are looking for a place to get away from a lot of tourists this is it. You can just sit back, relax and do as much or as little as you like. No worries as you will hear many people say there. Beautiful place and an amazing time. We will definitely be going back again.

Spring Retreat
Coral Cottage is one of the most unique places that I have had the opportunity to visit. As soon as I arrived, I felt welcomed and at home. Richie, Poochie, and Diane are the nicest people and their hospitality was superb. Not only did they teach me a lot about Jamaica and the culture, but they accompanied us on our day trips. Richie and Poochie came with us up to Appleton, and we had the BEST time. They made us laugh the entire time!
The rooms and ground at Coral Cottage are also what makes this villa so wonderful. Breakfast on the veranda was amazing. The fresh fruit was incredible, and I didn't want to leave. The flowers were in bloom, the rooms were spotless, and I loved the 3rd floor viewing deck. I could truly relax and enjoy this slice-of-paradise.
I was initially hesitant about the location, but Little Bay is perfect. The community is so nice and everyone we met was friendly. Little Bay is close to Negril, and far enough away so you can enjoy the real Jamaica (away from the resorts). I cannot wait to come back to Coral Cottage, and next time I'm bringing more friends and family with me!

Milestone Birthday Celebration
Coral Cottage is truly a boutique lodging experience. Our visit to Coral Cottage was like staying with good friends who has the gift of hospitably. The rooms were spotless yet charming. Morning and evening we were treated to authentic Jamaican cuisine lovingly prepared and served in the gazebo outside. Coral Cottage is a perfect place for a romantic get away or a family vacation. We had a spectacular time strolling along the beach at Little Bay, collecting coral, chatting with locals, learning to carve a watermelon, snorkeling, learning how local Jamaican cuisine is prepared, shopping for handmade baskets, swimming in natural springs.

Little bay is perfect and coral cottage is a gem
I stayed at coral cottage for 3 nights in mid December and I was the only guest at the time. I thoroughly loved the place. The room upstairs was large and super clean, with safe and ac. Richie, the owner, was very nice and helpful, and his 5 year old daughter, Terriann, and I got along very well. I also loved grumpy, their dog.
Little bay is a truly off the beaten track location, which may not be for everyone. It definitely was for me. Few cars pass through and the best way to see the village and meet the locals is to set out on foot or bike. There are also a few interesting local sites to visit.
The only downfall is that there is nowhere to eat. You have to order food at the cottage. This is fine if you are a group or other guests are staying at the cottage, not so fine since I was all alone. Luckily I met some locals who cooked for me, so it wasn't really a problem.
I definitely plan to be back.
