"I loved the rooftop bar which has spectacular views over Funchal and a great selection of drinks and light meals. Happy Hour was always a favourite!. The UVA restaurant is well worth a visit and offers a good price/quality ratio. The staff are efficient, cheerful and friendly. I have no real downers - may be the turn down service was earlier than expected but I'm nitpicking here."

"Our stay at the Pestana Carlton Madeira Ocean Resort Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. The hotel’s location is perfect—just a short walk from Funchal’s charming center, yet peaceful and right on the ocean. The views from the rooms and terraces are breathtaking, especially at sunset. We particularly loved the choice of swimming pools: the large sea-water pool with direct access to the ocean was a highlight, while the indoor heated pool provided the perfect retreat in the evenings. Breakfast was outstanding with a wide variety of fresh fruits, pastries, and local specialties. Every meal we had at the hotel was beautifully presented and delicious, with attentive service to match. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, offering all the modern amenities while still maintaining a relaxed, island atmosphere. "Incredible hotel! The staff is amazing. So friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The grounds, rooms, and views are stunning. The sea pool is beyond and the diving boards are so much fun. We brought our 8 month old and they provided a crib, stuffed animal, and adorable backpack. The staff was also very sweet with the baby and offered a high chair at every meal. We also really enjoyed the thoughtful nightly gifts during turndown service. Spa also very nice. Would highly recommend. Close to the airport. Incredible experience. "
