What a wonderful stay. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, rooms were clean and spacious. The food was good for both breakfast and dinner. Would definitely stay here again.

VERY PLEASANT STAY
A very pleasant stay. Check was easy and all the staff helpful. Room was clean and comfortable, fridge was very useful for fresh milk for tea/coffee. Very nice to have a bath and a shower too. Parking available and wifi connection was reliable. Very good ales in the pub. Only minor quibble was over breakfast. On the booking site it stated free breakfast, but on arrival we were told this was only the continental option and cooked items were extra. Perhaps this be clear on the booking site?

As part of the booking breakfast was included but they need to be clearer that it’s only continental breakfast that’s not included as I had to pay for a full breakdown. My room was quite tight and very difficult to use desk as there was little to no room under the desk due to the fridge

The rooms were a good size and very quiet and comfortable. The only niggle was that the bath smelled I think there was a drainage issue and the shower head was dirty. However the bathroom overall was clean. We stopped on our was back from a spa and had dinner downstairs, food was good quality and tasty although portions were huge! Breakfast was great too!

It’s ok, could be easily improved.
Couple of small tweaks would have made this stay perfect! Unfortunately, the service for dinner was incredibly slow, we waited an hour for our main courses. There was mould on the bread at breakfast and no sugar or sauces to go with our cooked breakfast. A little strange that you have to pay for a cooked breakfast but it tasted good. The room was a good size it was clean and the beds comfortable, enjoyed having air con in our bedroom. unfortunately the bath didn’t drain very well. Overall a good stay but a small tweaks would have made this perfect.

Excellent stay with a spotless room that’s so comfortable. Food good both dinner and breakfast. One issue was the Hotel.com description was misleading. The details said the price included breakfast. It only included a continental breakfast and we had to pay extra for English breakfast. A small point but a cost not accounted for. Please amend your advert.

Great stop for dinner & stay
A lovely room - with comfortable bed & clean, modern bathroom. Radiator worked well to warm it up - but slightly difficult to manage temperature as it seemed to only be on or off despite having a thermostat. Excellent dinner in restaurant with a huge fish & chip portions

Lovely venue for a meal and romantic night away
Really lovely pub and location. The rooms are extremely clean and I'm a very picky person regarding this. Lovely surprise was that the rooms have aircon. Only downside and it's not a deal breaker was the rooms are smaller than i anticipated but it's a building that is 280 years old so i should have expected that anyway. The pub is lovely, the locals friendly and the food was good too. Staff also very friendly. Both my girlfriend and I had a wonderful time.

A Great find
Super little historic village, the pub is very old circa 1744 but modern inside. The rooms could put many a 4* hotel to shame they are comfy bright and modern without detracting from the buildings age. The pub is located opposite the village green where most park although there is some onsite parking. The pub is vibrant and busy with local customers. I found the food and choice excellent

The Shining Star
The Star Inn felt like home away from home. The staff was amazingly attentive and made our stay pleasurable. The food was fantastic and the accommodation clean with all the special touches. They even reserved a large table for us to facilitate a mid size gathering of all of our friends. I would highly recommend staying at the Star it was beautiful, clean and convenient.

A very nicely appointed country inn with plush furnishings and comfortable spacious room. Breakfast was excellent. It was sometimes not easy to track down staff, for instance at breakfast and when checking out.

Great location and good service
Beautiful location for a getaway and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Free on-site parking was great and access to the 'cottage' (your room) out of hours was handy. A lovely full English to start your day as well. Would recommend the Sunday roast too. A lovely area for long walks!

This was my second stay at this hotel. Its very comfortable Hotel. What impressed me the most was the morning I was in a hurry and was unable to have breakfast. They made me two lovely sandwiches instead for me to take with me. The full English breakfast is lovely by the way.

The accommodation was lovely. The room was a good size with everything we needed. The en-suite bathroom was also a good size, very clean with an excellent shower. Although we booked our stay several months ago and received emailed confirmation from Hotels.com about our booking, when we arrived to check in there was no record of our reservation, we were really concerned that we would be left without anywhere to stay, but fortunately there was a room available and they kindly agreed to honour the price that we had booked for. All the staff that we encountered were wonderful - nothing was too much trouble. I would certainly recommend it. However, if the booking was through Hotels.com I would be inclined to ring the hotel and confirm direct with them.

The hotel was very nice and the lunch and evening meals were delicious served by very friendly staff. Normally, one would expect a cooked breakfast when bed and breakfast is booked but when we arrived, we read that there was only a continental breakfast and that anything cooked would cost £8.00 each. As it was, the continental breakfast was not very good and I needed to look for staff to replenish the bread and juice. On the other hand we left an item there and when we called, the staff were very happy to send it on.

Very nice property that is fully updated and clean. Lots of stairs so no good for handicap but we’ll erth the stay. Good value, very quiet in beautiful little village.
