We had a great stay. This rental was able to easily accommodate our larger family. Everything we needed was there and it was a great location to explore the Black Hills.
Great location, easy to talk to the owner, comfy beda, beautiful deck, everything you needed was there.

The house is not at all like the pictures showed. It needs a DEEP cleaning!! It was very well stocked and we did enjoy the wrap around deck and location
Overall out stay was great. We didn't get to take advantage of the awesome decks attached to the house, as we were mainly only there at night. But everything was as described and beds were comfortable. Owner warned us of an issue with the hot tub cover beforehand, so that was appreciated. The driveway is a little tight for long trailers, but it's good if not better than other places we've stayed. Overall great place to stay!
We wanted a relaxing and cozy cabin feel, and we wanted it to be central to locations we wanted to visit, including Mount Rushmore and Devil’s Tower. This was the perfect place for us! Plenty of comfy beds, everything we needed and more! Communications with the owner were quick and easy. Highly recommended if you want a stay in the Black Hills.
We didn’t stay at the cabin a lot because of hiking and going to downtown deadwood. It was a nice place to sleep and hangout with friends when waiting for the next activity. Good location the 24/7 cab service had no problems getting to the cabin!
Great for family! Nice, large family room for gathering, and enough room to spread out and have space to relax/privacy. Great outdoor deck! Quiet location that feels remote, but still close to Lead and Deadwood(15 minutes) Loved being able to have our dog stay. Great communication with owners and quick response to our questions.
Very peaceful setting. We enjoyed our home away from home! Steps are a little tough if mobility is an issue. There is ample space for several to sleep comfortably and several locations to gather. Remote location, but close to Lead and Deadwood so easy to find groceries and amenities if needed.
Although trails are not that close to the cabin, within 5-6 miles of road can get you to some. Cabin was nice but was smaller than pictures depicted. Basic necessities provided as described. We had a great time!
Plenty of space, adequate for our stay. Quiet and peaceful. Upstairs bedrooms were nice. Spent most of our time on the expansive wrap around deck. Access to the front deck was precarious, very steep steps. The property needs a deep cleaning and there is a lot of deferred maintenance.
We were there to race at ISOC Snocross National. JR's Hideaway offered an amazing place for us to relax after a long day of racing. The riders appreciated the hot tub. Also provided enough space for (2) families to have their own space. Communication with the owners with the couple questions we had were quickly and easily answered. The location was nice. Close enough to Deadwood (15min ride) but far enough away to enjoy the beauty of the area. We definitely stay here again.
Outdoor space and location were amazing. House is large and spacious could easily house a couple families. Loved being able to have our dog. We ran into the hottub issue water low dirty & cold. Took us 24hrs to get it going. Had to purchase pellets for the main heat in the family room. Overall great place.
We were 5 bikers for the Sturgis Rally. Location was perfect, far enough away from the chaos but not too far. The amenities were very welcomed, laundry, kitchen, hot tub to warm up after riding. The huge deck was awesome for grilling, chilling & recapping the day's adventure. I would like to see a spaghetti pot, and teflon pan for eggs added to the assortment, as well as bath soap, and the hot water temp brought up a bit-downstairs bath had to be put to full heat for several minutes to have a descent shower. Lastly, as a word of caution for motorcycles, the driveway is downhill gravel with a sharp left through a washed out dip. Just keep your speed in check.
None of this is a deal breaker, just ideas to improve an excellent Rally respite in the woods. I do hope it's available when next I return.
The check in was super simple with a keycode from the host. Once we arrived, it was rather cold (especially being in the mountains) and the living room was insanely hard to keep warm the whole week. There were my husband, our eight children and I staying at the cabin. Overall, there was plenty of room and a very comfortable stay! Sean (the host) was very easy to communicate. I would say, it would be nice to have hand soap in the bathrooms and kitchen (we bought our own) and more than one roll of paper towels available. The hot tub had a funky smell to it but it was relaxing after a long day exploring. The water itself (from any tap) is yellow-ish in color so we went through a ton of bottles and jugs of water. The deck has absolutely lovely views and the kids enjoyed exploring around the acreage. I would also list the fact that if you have a smaller car, you MAY have a lot of trouble getting to the cabin. We drive a Yukon and Silverado which definitely worked fine... anything else might be QUITE the iffy ride. Overall, the beds were nice, the deck was beautiful and the cabin worked for what we needed. It would have been nice to have some wood for the wood burner... we might have been much more comfortable in the living room. Thanks, for allowing us to stay at your cabin!
Great place for our family vacation. Just far enough out of town to enjoy the peace and quiet of the woods but close enough to Lead and Deadwood to go enjoy activities and food. The cabin could use some upgrades and a deep cleaning, but other than that we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.
