The best area to stay in Layo is around the main square, Plaza de Armas, for its convenience and access to local life.

This central area is the heart of Layo, where you'll find the most amenities and local interactions. The Plaza de Armas is a well-maintained public space, often bustling with local activity, especially on market days. Around the square, you'll discover small eateries offering traditional Peruvian dishes and shops selling local goods. The church, a prominent landmark, is also located here.

Couples looking for an authentic and convenient base will find this area ideal. You'll be within easy walking distance of everything Layo has to offer, from sampling local cuisine to observing daily life. It's also a good starting point for exploring the nearby Layo Lake, which is just a short stroll away.

For those interested in a quieter experience while still being close to the action, consider accommodations just a few streets back from the Plaza de Armas.

The best time to visit Layo is during the dry season, which runs from May to October.

During these months, you'll experience sunny days and clearer skies, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty around Layo. The temperatures are generally mild and pleasant, great for outdoor activities like hiking, birdwatching, or boat trips on Lake Layo. While evenings can be cool, the daytime weather is consistently agreeable.

This period is particularly good for families looking to enjoy the outdoors without the disruption of heavy rains. The drier conditions mean paths and trails are more accessible, and the lake is at its most inviting for activities.

For couples seeking a peaceful retreat, the dry season offers the best opportunity for romantic walks along the lake shore or enjoying the serene landscapes.
