Lovely hotel with easy access to lake/downtown
Beautiful and elegant hotel. Room was great with a balcony and view of the lake. Friendly and attentive staff including arranging a taxi for our pickup at the Verbania train station. Direct access to the lake with plenty of space and seating to lounge outside. Great breakfast with a variety of selections. We also enjoyed our dinner there. 5 to 10 minute walk to the downtown area.

Old Charm in Verbania
Excellent old elegant hotel. Nice large room with a GREAT view. Restaurant was very nice and welcoming. Pool indoors was a bit loud with kids around, otherwise just fine. Spa is a bit limited but the massages were well done and most of all in a quiet atmosphere. The service was better than in most 4* places. One person stands out Sara Spagnoli, was extremely exigent and proactive in getting us all we required and arranging restaurants and the boat rental, which was the highlight. Lake was amazingly beautiful and relaxing.

Location is extraordinarily beautiful, directly on Lake Maggiore. Breakfast buffet service is lavish and delicious. Outdoor property is well maintained. Spa area and rooms require refurbishing.

This is beautiful stately old building. The best part is there large balconies that look over a huge yard and the lake. There is a balconie for dining and a different one for drinks or just lounging. The yard is kept perfect and there are lounge chairs and small tables for sunbathing. They have a pretty pool that's surrounded by glass doors that weren't kept open. The room smelled like cloureen. I think if the doors were all open it would have been used more but as it was I didn't find it inviting. There is a lovely dining room that is 3 walls of glass looking at the yard and lake. Inside the grand entranceway is large and lovely steps wrap around to the 5th floor giving a stately view up to the roof.

Terrible, dont book this hotel at all !!!!. Since day one the experience wasn't the best. Not very friendly staff at check in. Terrible internet, very rude staff in the restaurant for room service. Its an amazing place ruined by the terrible service..... a big pity .

High quality hotel, with good facilities
The Majestic is high quality, excellent service but a little too traditional and conservative. The breakfasts are excellent, the room service is very good and cleanliness is brilliant. The hotel has an air of opulence which is perhaps a bit too much - e.g. why have antique chairs in the reception area which you're not allowed to sit on - just when you need a chair after a hard days travel. You have to ask for everything - weather forecast, tea/coffee in your room. Having said that we really enjoyed our stay; the location is first class and the views are superb. We supposedly had a partial lake view, but the only thing blocking it was an island with a large house on it. Staff were very pleasant, well organised and helpful. We would go again because it suited our needs in a lovely location.

Fantastic lakeside hotel - book a lake view room
A superb hotel located on the lakeside and 5 minutes walk from town. Make sure you pay the extra for a lake view room (see photos from our room). I would also recommend booking a table at the Michelin starred restaurant Il Portale in town. There is a cycle path literally outside the front door of the hotel which was great for us - it’s also easy to take the bikes on ferry across the lake to see a different area. Make sure you do one of the military island boat trips - fabulous islands and a great way to spend a day - especially with some fizz!

Outstanding hotel with a speculator view
An outstanding hotel with a spectular view and a high standard of customer service. Everything we asked for was dealt with efficiently and promptly during our stay and in advance of our arrival. We had asked for two rooms close to each other and not only was our request met, but we were given a room upgrade. The hotel staff go out of their way to be helpful. The hotel is conveniently located five minutes on foot from Pallanza where there is a good selection of restaurants and shops. It’s worth trying out dinner in the hotel restaurant just for the experience and the view, not to mention the food is of a high standard. We would definitely consider returning to the appropriately named Grand Majestic Hotel.

Lakeside beauty
Lovely hotel on lakeside with beautiful views, garden, own beach and pool. Located nicely between Verbania and Pallanza, both with good selection of restaurants within walking distance, as well as the lake ferry port where a great tour of the islands us available.

Hotel with grounds leading to the edge of the lake
Given an upgrade to very comfortable top floor two tier room with views over lake and mountains. Quiet position easy short walk into town and ferry to the islands. Very helpful reception staff.

Truly Majestic!
From the moment of our arrival and check in, I was in love. Location, Cleanliness, Decor, Breakfast Buffet, Staff - It was all beyond lovely. This Grand Hotel is not a disappointment, it was truly GRAND!

A really Majestic hotel!
We had a wonderful time at the Grand Majestic Hotel. On arrival we were given a up grade to a junior suite, it was great, we had a lovely large and comfortable room with 2 balconies and a superb view of the lake and mountains. The room was very clean and tidy. The hotel staff were all great, very friendly and helpful at all times. The restaurant La Beola was amazing! The food was of top restaurant quality a very good chef, and the waiters were very efficient and friendly, and the views over the lake watching the sun go down was wonderful. The facilities (pool, sauna, Beauty treatments) were good as well. And of course the location is the best in the area. In all it was a great holiday.

Dissapointing Service
We were visiting for a wedding and expected a customer focused hotel. We were wrong. We had friend staying nearby and made arrangements for them to visit with us in the hotel gardens. When they arrived they were told that they were not guests and turned away. This was odd given the previous day the hotel arrange a boat tour for all of us. The reason for the refusal was they had a dog and there was a Ferrari tour so the hotel was busy (garden was empty and dog was allowed previous day). Our friends offered to not bring in the dog but were still refused unless we paid 50 Euro’s. This was upsetting and we decided to leave the hotel to go to the public beach. We were stopped when leaving and told that we were not allowed to bring the hotel’s towels to the beach. We spoke with the manager and offered to pay if we lost the towels. He refused our request and was extremely rude. His treatment of us was disturbing given we were paying guests. Marco proceeded to rip the towels from our arms. Frustrated, we left the hotel. On the way out we were asked for our car keys to move our car for the Ferrari tour. Guests with nicer cars get preferential treatment. We indicated we would be leaving early and to please not block in our car. Upon checking out, our car was blocked. This was frustrating given we were anxious to move on and this cause a delay. I hope this outlines the poor customer service. Marco needs customer service training.

Didn't meet our expectations
There were too many irritating problems for a hotel of the apparent standard and price. The safe didn't work, the fridge was broken, there was no coffee machine and only 2 plugs with European fittings. The Reception staff were not friendly or helpful. We were expected to pay for two small bottles of mineral water every day. The breakfast buffet was merely adequate with no cooked options apart from a vat of lukewarm scrambled eggs. Would not recommend this hotel if you want a luxury venue.

Beautiful hotel but...
Beautiful hotel with fantastic garden and views. Truly unique. Unfortunately has some major flaws. The rooms for a 4* are very basic and need renovation. The small shower consists only of a curtain and water spills all over as you wash. When we came A/C didn't work and it required three calls before being fixed. So did our request for extra pillows. The hotel badly needs more professional staff.

Wonderful location on the lake.
This is a beautiful hotel in a superb setting on the lakeside. You do need to make sure your room has at least a side view of the lake. The terrace bar overlooking the little island nearby is a great place to sit with a drink (not too expensive either) and the gardens are lovely. The staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful, especially at reception and at the pool. The indoor pool set in the gardens with its view of the lake is a wonderful bonus and the gym looked good though we did not use it. Room was quite big and very comfortable.

Wonderful views - quite expensive!
We had stayed at the Majestic before and knew how expensive it could be. The location is wonderful and the gardens beautiful. The hotel may look a little tired - it is an old building and one could say that this adds to the charm. The restaurant has great views over the lake and is quite formal. The choice of food was rather limited on the night we were there, particularly as I'm not a great fish eater. It was expensive - we knew it would be and have no complaints. The price of a glass of wine - in the restaurant or on the terrace may shock some people. It did us. Our room was at the back (we expected this) - it was clean, but rather tired and in need of a 'make-over'! Somebody had 'blocked' us in the car park when we came to leave - the staff sorted this, but there was no apology from anyone. Value for money . . . no. I don't think we'll return.

Our experience of this hotel was very good on all fronts. The staff were always very helpful and prepared to go 'the extra mile' for you. We arrived and found we had been upgraded to a junior suite with a marvelous view over the lake. The room was well appointed in terms of comfort of the bed, quality of the furniture and decor. The breakfasts were adequate but there is room for improvement. Tea & coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice. Hotels restaurant was of a high standard in terms of quality of food and presentation and atmosphere very pleasant. The views of the lake from the balcony was relaxing and beautiful. Overall it was a very good experience and I would have no hesitation recommending the hotel to anyone. We did not use the spa but the swimming pool looked very nice and well kept.

A good average hotel
The food and wine and service in the restaurant was superb. The room was rather ordinary and a little dated.I felt it was rather too expensive. Pallanza is not the most attractive resort on the lake.

Nice hotel and beautiful location. The superior room was fine and generally comfortable and very quiet despite overlooking the road, but for us the hotel was let down on some points. For some unknown reason the air conditioning was turned off each night in the early hours making sleeping a little uncomfortable (we did raise this twice with the management, but it happened on 3 of the 5 nights we stayed) - the buffet breakfasts were fairly poor for this quality of hotel and uninspiring (tinned fruit) with charges for extras eg 9 euros for porridge ! On the basis of this we were disinclined to eat in the restaurant at night and ate in the Town instead which was close by . We were given the impression that there were some basic "economies" being made which we felt made the hotel less welcoming

all the staff were extremely helpful, impeccable service, and the location was right on Lake Maggiore, and a short walk into the town of Pallanza where there is a ferry stop to visit the Borromeo Islands and other stops on the Lake. Very good restaurants in town, although not much shopping. Try Stresa for shopping and bustling tourist activities.

Beautiful old-style hotel, very friendly staff. Staff tried to charge me 51Euros to press a shirt and a suit. I refused to pay such a rip off price, especially since they did not tell me the prices ahead of time, and they cut the charge in half. Very uncomfortable beds however, and the shower was too tight to even turn around in. Internet was reasonably priced but extremely slow. Gym was very adequate for a European hotel. Restaurant offered a good breakfast, included in the rate, and an outrageously expensive lunch.

Short break in June
2nd trip to The Majestic, this time brought friends for 4 nights. Everyone very satisfied. We had partial lake view rooms, which are certainly small but had great views from the Juliet balcony. HB 4-course evening meals are good value/quality, but can be too much (!) after 3 nights. Mercedes Vito minibus for 4x from the airport was c165 Euros each way and worked well.

Great, peaceful hotel
We stayed in a Superior Double room with a partial lake view for 10 nights. Definitely pay for the view and a nicer room if you can afford it, I'm not sure of the quality of the classic rooms and the non-lake side of the hotel has no views. The room was clean and comfortable with a mini bar, decent shower, small TV and DVD player. The wifi was reliable but expensive (1 hour free, 5 euros for 24 hours, 10 euros for 3 days and 20 euros for 7 days). The hotel in general is very grand, with amazing views over the lake from the gardens, terrace and breakfast room. The hotel is in a very quiet location and a 10 minute walk from Pallanza and the ferry point. We were surprised at how quiet Pallanza was as a resort, if you want shops and a nightlife this probably isn't the place for you. The only downsides were occasionally slow service at reception and at breakfast and the cost of the wifi.

Great location but poor rooms
This hotel has a great location on the edge of Lake Maggiore. The terrace restaurant is very good and the service in the restaurant is excellent. However, the lake view room was cramped and the bed and pillows were extremely poor quality and very uncomfortable. These shortcomings spoiled what was otherwise a good hotel. I will not be booking it again.
