Lake activities at Lake Lure are expected to re-open on May 1, 2026 as the lake returns to full pond levels. Come be a part of the historic re-opening of Lake Lure in 2026!

Beautiful LAKEFRONT home. This home boasts a King Suite as well as four spacious gathering decks and room to spread out. Numerous indoor as well as outdoor living areas including a billiard room. Garage has been converted into a rec room with a ping pong table, foosball, giant jinga, and TV. Enormous sun deck atop a 2 stall boathouse. 2 Kayaks and 2 paddle boards (SUP) included with rental. Inquire with owner regarding rental of 20' pontoon. Sonos sound system. 3 king beds, 2 queens, 1 single, 3 roll-away beds, and 2 pack-n-play cribs. Fully stocked kitchen. Weber gas grill and charcoal grill are available for use. Our cove is nestled back from the traffic flow of the main lake allowing a safe space for children to swim away from boat traffic.

*NEW in 2022- we have just completed a stone fire pit addition to the side of our home.

Amazing Wedding Weekend

Great stay

Ali was super responsive, to any and all questions. The 5 bedrooms, over three floors did an exceptional job accommodating our large family (including Grandchildren). Many great areas to gather, and the reck room was a great feature.

Fall Family Trip

We rented this house for our family including our grown children and grandchildren. The house is perfect! It has everything you could possibly need and more! The location on the lake is just beautiful with so much to do! My only complaint is we didn’t get to stay long enough! We definitely plan to come back again!

Family gathering

This was an excellent choice for our family to gather for the week. The house was comfortable for all and well supplied. Lake Lure is a beautiful vacation spot and we loved all the porches and views from each bedroom. We especially enjoyed the times we took the boat out. Ali and Keith were so friendly and responsive to any questions. We would definitely recommend staying at this wonderful home on the lake.

Lake Lure Excursion

Great Property, the decks and Sun Rooms are wonderful for relaxation time. Our kids enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding. The Chimney Rock area is quite beautiful. The sidewalks do roll up early in town and there are only a few places open after 8pm.

The best family house on the lake!

This was our second stay at the house and I know we will be back again! The property is in the perfect location on the lake - close to the marina, restaurants, etc., but still tucked away for a serene vibe. We rented the pontoon and it really adds to the lake experience, but you can have so much fun on the water even without it thanks to the paddle boards, kayaks, lily pad and spacious dock. The house is equipped with everything you need for an infant/kids, which made packing so easy. Thank you, Ali and Keith, for creating such a special place!

Beautiful house

"Enjoyed our stay at the Lake Lure cabin in North Carolina. The cabin offered a cozy retreat with well-appointed amenities. The location provided a serene atmosphere, and the cleanliness was commendable. While we had a comfortable stay, a few minor improvements could enhance the overall experience. Nonetheless, we appreciated the charm of the cabin and the beautiful surroundings."

Fantastic Week on Lake Lure

We had a wonderful time with our children and grandchildren. The house was gorgeous and as depicted on VRBO. Plenty of room for all of us and fun for every age. During the day we enjoyed using the pontoon boat or just swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding off the dock. In the evenings we enjoyed playing pool and ping pong or having smores at the firepit. The house is very convenient to Chimney Rock and a number of restaurants. We would definitely rent this property again if we return to Lake Lure.

Lovely Place with a Great Host

Idle Speed was a good fit for our family, nice bedrooms and lots of porches and a well-equipped kitchen. Lots of places for people to be together as well as have some quiet time, both indoors and out. As noted by others, it’s important to be aware of the stairs that need to be used to get to and from the lake and the boathouse. Ali was a pleasure to deal with, fast and responsive.

Mountain Lake Retreat

We had an awesome time at the lake. The views were amazing. It was quiet and relaxing! The house was clean and spacious! Kitchen was well stocked with pans, plates, silverware, etc. The host Ali was quick to respond when we did have a question. Definitely would consider returning another time when it’s warmer to enjoy the lake activities.

Good but a few glitches

Our stay was fine. There were a few items we expected that were deficient (only 3 dish towels, not enough dish washer soap) but these were resolved by our hosts giving us access to their locked closets. The inside of the house was clean but the outside of most windows had an amazing collection of spider webs which are a bit off putting. The recycle bin at the top of the driveway (Bear proof) is not big enough. When we arrived it was full (waiting for Monday pickup) and there was more in the bin in the garage. After pickup on Monday we filled it up by Wednesday evening and ended up using the garage bin for the rest of the week. The pontoon boat arrangements went well until Friday when we went to the Gas Dock and found it closed. We contacted your boat man and he was very helpful. He filled it on Saturday and sent us a receipt. We reimbursed him through Venmo. He also made a special trip to fix a bolt on the canopy frame that had lost its nut. There were a couple of screws on the kayaks that needed tightening. The owners gave us access to their toolbox so we were able to fix those problems. Overall it went well and we appreciated the support from the owners and the boat man to resolve the problems we did have. Rob Stotz

Watching the work being done to restore the lake was fascinating. The roads were accessible between Lake Lure and both Asheville and Hendersonville. We were able to get in some apple picking on one of our trips to the Hendersonville area. The dining options were plentiful, particularly as you got closer to the weekend. The pool table and fire pit were great. Owners were very responsive when needed.

We would go back again. The host was very prompt with the few questions I asked. The house was in a great location for us. The house does need a deep clean. There have been very few visitors this year due to the storm damage to the lake. There are cobwebs inside and out, along with small dead insects in corners. This needs to be addressed. Overall, we loved our stay!

Golf trip

Great property, best supplied/equipped I’ve ever seen, multiple living/gathering areas, clean and tidy inside. We were 6 60 golfers that enjoyed the property immensely. The area is still struggling to recover from Helene but Kieth and Ali are on the top of their game! Highly recommend!

Great Family Vacation

This house was everything we expected, and more! The area was perfect for a family vacation. We explored the Biltmore, chimney rock state park, and are glad we rented a pontoon boat to cruise around the lake.

Wonderful place to stay on Lake Lure!

We had a great time with our family at Idle Speed! The hosts were great and the house was just perfect! Beautiful spot on the lake, very clean, lots of great porch space and hang out space! We also enjoyed being close to some great hiking spots and the Chimney Rock area.

Amazing Home!

We absolutely loved this place. We have rented through VRBO for several years and multiple properties and we all agreed this one may have been our favorite. We want to come back in the summer and jump off the boathouse!

Summer Mini vacation

We had an absolute amazing time here! The house itself was great with the well-stocked kitchen, great bedroom layout, and fun things to do like pool and ping pong. And everyone loved the lake amenities - kayaks, paddle boards, floating water mat, and a great deck to sit and play games and just enjoy the lake. Can't wait to come back and spend more time here!
