"We stayed 3 nights in March 2026.
Coober Pedy is a dusty place in the outback with flies. We knew this and arrived with fly hats and average expectations with regard to the hotel. It was fun staying in a cave room, which was dusty with cave dust (we even had a small rock fall from the ceiling onto the room table when we were in bed! All part of the experience). We tried the food in the hotel which wasn't great so ventured out and tried a few different local eateries. The hotel pool was clean & secure and very welcome at the end of a hot day.
Coober Pedy is a very small town. There's an IGA, restaurants and a few tourist things to do within walking distance of the hotel. Felt pretty safe.
Unfortunately for us the Breakaways was closed due to wet weather & unsafe to drive but we went up to the Winch 360 within Coober Pedy town instead to see a nice sunset.
There is an outdoor cinema which only operates on Saturdays and we missed that but thought it would've been fun. Also, no orphaned kangeroos to visit when we were there but guess that's a good thing."
"Parking is near the room , can't speak for the other rooms but the 1 I stayed in wasn't very clean , floors looked like they wern't vaccumed for weeks , dirty walls in the shower area and kitchenette . to be honest for what they charge I wont stay there again ."
"Very friendly host, who organised our room earlier, as we'd been on the overnight bus! Great 'cave' room, with good, clean and comfortable beds. Great shower. Use of kitchen. Laundry available. Definitely recommend!"
"Bed was uncomfortable and bathroom was filthy.
Toilet had been used, nit flushed or cleaned.
Coffee ups had not been washed and left with residue.
Will never stay there again."
"Genuine high level accomodation right near Wilpena Pound. We stayed in an ECO villa and it was wonderful. Really enjoyed the stay and the staff were excellent."
"Parking looks very secure, staff are friendly and helpful, and I couldn't help but notice the appealing presentation of both regular and decaf Nescafe sachets in my room. Overall a great refresher for the Broken Hill train trip from Sydney."
