Brand new hotel with a lovely 6th floor dining area with fantastic views, but sandwiched between 2 building sites. This could go on until at least 2021. However the issue with that is more an aesthetic one than noise levels. Noise actually comes from the boats moored a few metres away due to the hotel's waterside location, even in the early morning. Perhaps this affects the seaview rooms more. For the streetside rooms, there is a mosque opposite hence the expected calls to prayer.
Minor design issues in the rooms - no bedside reading lamps in the Phinisi room we had, no ledge to put toiletries or a book while soaking in the freestanding bathtub, the "Nespresso"-like machine didn't work so well - but everything else was excellent quality. We had 2 very good nights' sleep in a comfortable bed.
Transport to the hotel using their shuttle is charged at a whopping 300,000+ IDR for a very short one-way ride. So take the airport taxi at 50,000 IDR or you can contact some of the transport companies (whatsapp numbers available on Facebook) to get a quote within the 50,000 to 65,000 range.
Hotel has honest, earnest staff but bear in mind there aren't many luxury hotels in LBJ so many are still learning on the job.
We had considered the Ayana but chose this because of location and the ability to pop outside quickly for a cheap meal. There is even a convenience store and coffee chains like Starbucks in the complex. So you never feel "trapped" into dining inhouse.
