"Valet parking on arrival was unstaffed and the charge of over $60 was exorbitant for no service.
No bell staff to help with bags, but in fairness I didn’t need it - it was just a signal of more to come.
Worst check in experience I have had in decades of travel to Ottawa. Arrived late evening and there was one person at the front desk. There was a group of foreign travellers ahead of me with all sorts of issues. After waiting patiently for a good 10-15 minutes I asked the clerk if there was anyone else who could help. She said yes and picked up the phone. 15 minutes later no one else had shown up and she finally finished with the group.
Nothing in the room indicated the availability of a room service breakfast so I called the front desk to inquire and I should not have been surprised that no one answered.
In the morning I had an early meeting and needed to check my bags at the concierge desk, except no one was there. Again it took far longer than reasonable for the front desk to get someone.
I was told at check in that when I needed my car I should request it 40 - 60 minutes in advance.
Seriously??
But when I did order it an hour in advance I got a notification 10 minutes later that it was ready, so I least I didn’t have to wait long when I needed to leave.
It’s a beautiful iconic hotel, but if it is grossly understaffed, it still isn’t capable of running itself."
