The space
Driftless Creek offers light-filled, clean-lines, full-amenity modern cabins, each private from the other, nestled in the woods, a 15 minute drive from Viroqua. Down a scenic dirt road, and up a private driveway, you will enter our 75 acres of ridgetop forest between two spring-fed streams. We offer almost 2 miles of trails on property for hiking, mountain-biking, or snow-shoeing. Adjacent state natural areas on 3 sides enhance the remote wilderness feeling. The quiet is restorative and the dark nights are perfect for star-gazing. This really might be the place where you pick up a book or a well-maintained ukulele or guitar we provide, or let the hours go by in a hammock on the screened porch. We are known for top-quality comfort, including memory foam mattresses with 100% cotton and down bedding, glass and tile showers with a heated bathroom fan, Jøtul wood stoves inside and fire rings outside with seasoned firewood at the ready, and heating and cooling options that keep you cozy no matter the season. Our wifi is network grade. Our water is sourced from a deep well and filtered. And our kitchens are stocked with everything you need, including a dishwasher, coffee maker, coffee grinder, and local coffee beans. Our cabins are sparkling clean and we guarantee that everything on premises is fully operational. Driftless Creek offers a place for you to gather yourself, your family, your friends, and even your pets, surrounded by the abundance and peace of nature and all that the area has to offer. Whether it is the beautiful rolling hills, the trout streams, the inspired food offerings, or the charming towns, we look forward to hosting you in the Driftless area of Wisconsin.

We love our canine friends, and your dog is welcome and will enjoy walking on the trails. (2 dogs max)
We are located on a wooded 75 acre property surrounded by 300 acres of protected public land with two Wisconsin DNR Class 1 trout streams (Tainter and Mcgraw creeks), filled with Brook and Brown trout. We have over a mile of hiking trails on the property for hiking, biking or snowshoeing.
The cabin is at the top of a steep private drive, 1/2 mile from the public road (Tainter Road). We have two other cabins further down the drive on our property, approximately 1/2 mile away that are not visible. Expect it to be very quiet, and very dark with views of the stars at night. Our closest neighbor is a mile away.
We are a 15 minute drive south of downtown Viroqua with great restaurants and shopping. Be sure to check out the Driftless cafe, the Food Coop, Parish Music and Driftless books.
We plow and salt our private drive after snowfalls but all-wheel drive or a 4x4 vehicles can be helpful in the winter.

Host was very informative and courteous. They supply information of activities in the souronding areas, as well as on the property. Hiking trail, a creek, and beautiful scenery. May also mention its peacfully quiet. Would definitely recommend 😊
Everything was perfect. Quiet stay, great paths for walking on the property, thoughtful details in the cabin and cozy beds made for a comfortable stay.
perfect getaway for people who love the outdoors, we enjoyed the onsite hiking trails and relaxing atmosphere, this was our first vrbo experience and it could not have gone any better
This was our 3rd time staying here! It has become a tradition we look forward to and talk about often. This is a beautiful property and very nice cabin. I always feel safe and comfortable staying here. I can't wait to come back again!
Always like to get away with my dog at the end of February. This cabin was PERFECT. There was no one else around. The trails around the property were fun for me and my dog. The cabin itself was also super nice and just like the pictures. I’m sure it’s even more beautiful I. The spring and fall.
What a wonderful winter getaway. Rodney kept us cozy with lots of kindling and firewood and the trails were beautiful. Rodney also replaced a broken coffee maker ASAP so we could be fully caffeinated for our adventures. Can't wait to return.
There is a reason we keep coming back here year after year. Rodney and his family at Driftless Creek never fails to deliver. Peaceful. Convenient. Well-appointed. Quiet. And excellent service and communication with host. The best. We can't wait to return again.
Nestled in the driftless region of SW Wisconsin, this little getaway was just what my friends and I needed! This charming, immaculate cabin was equipped with everything to make our stay comfortable and memorable. A great place to enjoy the outdoors along with close proximity to town for dining out or shopping. If you’re craving peace and quiet this is the place to go.
Best experience I've had on VRBO. Host was amazing, perfect communication, everything exactly as advertised. It snowed on the day of our arrival and the host provided great directions that kept us on main roads and had everything plowed for a safe arrival. The property is amazing. If you're looking for peace in nature, this is a 10/10. Hope to come back again!
We loved this cozy little cabin set in the woods, and we lived on the spacious screen porch. Birds, wildflowers, cool breezes - sublime. The place is beautifully designed and lovingly maintained, and Rodney couldn’t have been more helpful. We’d love to come back.
We really enjoyed this quiet, cozy cabin! The trails were so accessible and fun for our young kids - especially the one leading to the tree swing. It was fun to hear cows in the distance at night. The accommodations are so comfortable and come with everything you need. We loved the Wonderstate coffee, grill with all the tools, and amazing screened in porch. Highly recommend for a relaxing, beautiful get-away!
This was my second time staying here and only continue to be amazed by the property, cabins, hosts and Driftless area! We had everything we needed at the cabin. I absolutely love being able to walk out the door right onto trails. It snowed two of the nights and the host was very attentive to making sure the driveway up was plowed and communicated when it was cleared. I really cannot say enough good things about this stay! Thanks for the memories!
A quiet sublime setting. Great being back in the Driftless. Very comfortable cabin. Screened in porch✅ .. life devolved down to simple .. reading aloud to one another from selections on hand✅ ..
the little stove was efficient .. really could not have imagined a better 2 days..
The pictures match exactly what you will find in the cabin. All expectations met! The owners obviously care about their cabins and setting as everything is well thought out, clean with comfortable beds and linens, paths well maintained and they leave a trail map so you won’t get lost. If you’re looking for a well appointed cabin with all necessary amenities, surrounded by peace, this is the place for you!
I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve stayed at Driftless Creek. It is the perfect getaway. It always is. The quiet. The oak forest. The bird song. Great WiFi, comfy beds and a great kitchen and bathroom set up. Coffee on the screened in porch was a morning treat. Already planning our next stay
This was our second time staying at Tanager Cabin. I told Rodney we would be coming in late. When we arrived, the lights were on, much appreciated.
The cabin has a little bit for everyone, fishing for me and shopping for my wife. We all enjoyed hiking the trails, especially our two labs.
Our stay at Driftless Creek was beyond anything we had hoped for. The cabin was perfect, the scenery was postcard worthy, and our host Rodney was a top-notch communicator. The dark skies allowed for some great star gazing - along with the Orionid meteor shower. The nearby town of Viroqua water was buzzing on Saturday morning, but was quieter by Sunday. If you want to get away from it all and recharge - there is no better place.
My husband, two dogs, and I stayed at this charming cabin and loved it! We would definitely come back in the future. It was lovely to have the screened in porch for morning coffee. The trails around the cabin were great for walks during our stay. The cabin is remote, which was exactly what we were looking for and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The host was very responsive and gave great food recommendations. There was some bad weather before the days before we arrived and the host was quick to reach out about the roadways and the best way to navigate to the cabin. Overall a wonderful stay!!
