Unique and spacious holiday house set on the sea front

  • The main open plan living area with fully fitted kitchen and aga is on the ground floor with the focal point being a large double window with breath taking views over Loch Alsh towards Skye. There are two double bedrooms on the ground floor and a family bathroom. The ground floor has one twin room, one bunk room with additional single bed, a shower room and double garage. Iona Cottage easily caters for larger families or groups. There is also a large decking area to the rear of the property with seating and a barbecue.
    Iona Cottage is available for weekly rentals.

Wonderful place to stay

We loved our weeklong stay in this comfortable home. Most of our days were spent hiking on the Isle of Skye and returning to cook dinner and enjoy eating with the beautiful views from the enormous picture window in living/dining room. The home had everything we needed. Loved that the location was quiet, beautiful, and central to the things we wanted to see and do. A wonderful place to stay!

A week away with friends

Beautiful house located alongside the loch. The views are spectacular either from outside the property or when looking out through the panoramic lounge windows. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely location and stay

This was a great stay in a lovely property. Just a few things for the owner to consider sent in the spirit of (hopefully) helpful feedback: - the double bedroom mattress's seemed quite thin compared to current standards. - the cooker was always on and therefore made the lounge quite hot when the sun was shining. We didn't use the cooker so not only an unnecessary cost to the owner but as an oil burning appliance not environmentally friendly either. - finally, although it didn't bother us some people may feel the quite personalised lounge left them feeling they were staying in someone else's space, rather than their own for the period; maybe a page on the family history and their long connection to the property would get round that. Overall a stunning location and comfortable home for our week (which was spent mainly visiting Skye).

Very pleasant.

‘Iona Cottage’ is not a cottage in the traditional sense- it is a lovely, large house . Wood internally gives the building a slight feeling of being in an Alpine/Nordic chalet . Six of us had plenty of room. (We were able to use one bedroom as a ‘dressing/clothes room as wardrobes in only one bedroom.) It worked very well for us. Whist there, we celebrated a big birthday for my husband with our two daughters and their partners. ( I found a wonderful woman on Skye who made and delivered a fabulous cake to us at short notice!) We had a great time. Living area is very spacious, comfortable , bright and the views from the huge windows are genuinely stunning. We used BBQ and gradually became used to the Arga. Location is fabulous if you have a car and it is easy to explore both Skye and mainland. We crammed in so much during a week. Would happily have stayed longer if possible.

Iona cottage balmacara

Great property in beautiful location and fantastic for wildlife spotting direct from the house - we saw Eagles and Seals nearly every day, porpoises, dolphins and an Otter on the beach.

Phenomenal location

We had high expectations for the house and they were all exceeded. Great base to explore the Isle of Sky, relax and enjoy the highlands. Our time here was the highlight of our trip to Scotland!

We had a fabulous week staying at Iona cottage, plenty of space for all 9 off us. The views from the cottage are amazing. Great base for exploring the area, we visited the village of Plockton, fairy pools on Skye and the coral beach on Skye - a must see A very enjoyable week

Perfect getaway.

A week spent in this delightful cottage was a perfect getaway to recharge our batteries. Sitting in the spacious open plan sitting room/ kitchen looking over the bay was a wonderful way to unwind. All our needs were catered for and good restaurants were a short drive away.

Amazing spot

We had a lovely time here. Beautiful setting, very peaceful. The log burner and Aga were a huge bonus. Communications with the host were straightforward. Lots of leaflets on things to do in the area.

beautiful and near skye

it's a beautiful place especially for kids. the house isn't that modern and in the kitchen there isn't enough cutlery (small spoons, small knifes to cut cheese and veggies) for a group of eight. the view is great and the location to visit the isle of skye and surrounding is perfect.

Lovely stay at Iona cottage.

Antonina was very helpful with rearranging dates due to Covid and delaying the final payment until the situation was clearer. The house was lovely. Plenty of seating for 2 family’s with teenagers. View from the house was spectacular. Lovely walking available from the house, and only 10 minutes drive to Skye.

Perfect location

Lovely home in a perfect location. Away from it all but close to Eilean Donan castle, Kyle of Lochalsh and over the sea (bridge)to Skye. Also the Applecross peninsula - what a fabulous road. Although you could have just sat in the house all day just looking at the view. Saw porpoises, seals and otters from the house.Didn’t want to leave.

Perfect Isle of Skye location

We were a group of 8 along with a 1 1/2 yr old. The house was a great size for all of us. The view every morning from the huge open living room was beautiful. The nature walk nearby was so pretty. Easy way to get back on the road to Skye and 10 min from Eileen Donan. Would love to stay here again. Thank you!

Perfect loch side house with stunning views!

We loved our stay in Balmacara - the views were breathtaking and we loved being able to watch the children play on the beach whilst taking in the stunning surroundings! It was perfect for the boys rubber boat and the weather was so nice the children could even swim! We had a great time exploring Plockton and Skye. We drove overnight all the way from London and would happily come back and do it all over again. Thank you so much!
