Stunning Individually Designed Property On Shore In The Village Of Glenelg
Our house is called Solas, which in Gaelic means solace, comfort. It is a fantastic 2 bedroom house constructed at the end of 2009, situated beside the shore in the village of Glenelg. Glass screens downstairs with atrium above are a feature of the house and allow wonderful views across the Sound of Sleat and to the Isle of Skye. Ground floor is open plan with living area to one side of the central staircase and dining/kitchen to the other. The luxury bespoke kitchen includes a 5 ring combination gas/electric Lacanche cooker, American fridge freezer with ice/water facilities and dishwasher. There is a separate utility/boot room to the back of the house with washing machine and tumble dryer. The sitting room has a Jotul stove, TV/Freeview/ DVD player and has a good selection of books, local maps and DVDs. Free Wifi. The nearby Glenelg Inn offers lunches and dinners with a great menu in both its atmospheric bar and separate dining room; try the Shore Cafe at the Glenelg Ferry station for a selection of delicious homemade cakes and savoury snacks. Do your shopping locally at the wonderful Glenelg Shop. Horse riding and boat trips available nearby, kayaking in the village of Plockton. We welcome well-behaved pets.

A lovely house in a lovely location. Everything was catered for. Clean beds and floors etc.The only downside is that whoever cleans the property should take a little more time to be more particular to the rest of the house

The property and its location were outstanding!!! Good communication from the host before and during our stay.
2nd stay at this amazing accommodation. Great facilities, fantastic value for money.Location is fantastic for wildlife and getting away from everything but still close enough to get to the more tourist based places. We will definitely book again!
We had a lovely time in this Beautifully located house, with an amazing view of the Skye Island. The house it self was well equipped, spacious and clean. We really enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend!
What a nice place to stay! The water is on the other side of the road and you can walk alongside the water and enjoy the view. The house is great with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a very spacious kitchen.
Once again we loved staying in the house. So much space, very comfortable, everything you need and stunning views, what ever the weather. We feel so at home here and always have such a relaxing holiday. Can't wait to stay again.
2nd time at this property and we hope to go back. Location and facilities are perfect for us. We didn’t leave the peninsula and there is so much to do there.
The cottage location is perfect it’s well equipped and homely. Would prefer more comfortable seating in the lounge area and more attention to cleaning especially cobwebs above stairs and bathroom window. We saw minke whale, seals and white tailed eagle from the cottage!Would not hesitate to stay again.
This was our 3rd visit to this house and Glenelg - we love it!
Gorgeous house with everything you could need.
The local pub is well worth a visit - especially the Sunday lunch, very dog friendly and lovely staff.
The local shop is well stocked - not open on a Sunday so take some milk and some dinner for when you arrive
Glenelg is beautiful, remote and quiet.

Lovely property in wonderful location and views. Very peaceful. Owner very helpful and responsive. Thank you.
Beautiful accommodation and location. Well equipped house, which needed a little decorating. The house was warm and cosy. We loved the drive over the pass down to Glenelg. The lock and view of Skye were spectacular. I loved watching the seals just off shore.
Lovely modern property in a stunning location. A few small things that need attending to but probably most important is to fix the back door which doesnt lock
We loved this place - right opposite the sea and with amazing view of Skye from nearly every window. Friendly village- especially the shop. Loads of parking. House had a nice woodburner, good bathrooms and everything you need in the kitchen. The house was warm and cosy even in a storm. Really lovely get away. Will hope to visit again when the ferry is on and the pub is open (from April onwards I think)
Solac does what it says of its name a lovely place to just chill and relax house was cosy and well equipped had everything you need. Glenelg Inn was lovely and welcoming overall had a great stay lots of nice walks and great scenery . Would be more than happy to make a return visit.
Everything on arrival was as described and we were more than pleased with the house. Photos don’t actually give it justice and was very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Lovely location and would have spent more time in Glenelg if weather had been a bit more accommodating. Would definitely use this house again hopefully when weather may be a bit more on our side and it is North West Scotland so nothing is promised.
Loved the style of the property, plenty of space, nice enclosed garden. Spectacular views across to Skye. Just needing a bit of tlc, chipped cups and plates, gutter hanging off the and one dripping at the back door. Need new seating in the living room, its not comfortable and outdated. But saying all that it is a great place to relax and escape city life.
Due to weather our itinerary changed so arrived in Glenelg earlier than expected
Attempted to contact owner to check if possible to check-in early, did not manage to get in touch so spent a pleasant hour in the Glenelg Inn
Got to property about 3pm and found the keys as described
The property is absolutely stunning, felt warm and welcoming and a fabulous location
Had a great few days exploring the area even with the attention from Storm Agnes
Thank you for letting us use your lovely home

Our 3rd year running now at this property and it never fails to satisfy. The location, the open plan nature of the house, the faclities provided are all perfect for us. We love the kitchen with its range cooker and large dining table in front of the stunning views, relaxing in the living room and watching the world go by in front of the log burner in the evenings. Walks form the property are lovely, but most days we're happy just in the local area, getting the kids off the beach is almost impossible, and nly a stones throw from the front door, which allows them a freedom they dont get at home. We'll definitely be back! Thanks to Manuela for allowing us the week, and for being a considerate host.

We have stayed in many holiday homes throughout the UK and consider we are experienced in this subject to comment. Great location, pub was great (and very friendly). Scenery was amazing.Overall cleanliness needs improvement, including kitchen cupboards (put us off using pots & pans, especially with no dishwasher).Seating in lounge is extremely uncomfortable Back door does not lock Fire wasn’t cleaned out and no papers or kindling to light the fire ( the shop was closed), the firefighter didn’t work.Dishwasher didn’t work on any cycle
We spent a week here and seen dolphins, otters and seals on a daily basis which was amazing especially for the kids! The house is fantastic with a properly enclosed garden for the dog and plenty of lawn to play football around. The house was clean and tidy however unfortunately felt a little unloved if we're honest..... doors sticking and not painted, cupboards dusty, no toilet roll holders, damp patches in roof obviously fixed but not repainted etc which was a shame. Despite this we'd still return as the space and the location was excellent!!
A Perfect location away from the madding crowd, (Really!).
We arrived in the evening during storm Isha to a proper Hooley! But this did not dishearten us as the location and property were perfect. Located by the shore in Glenelg, we enjoyed the windy peace and quiet, only to be expected in January.
The property was cozy and well appointed with a washing machine & tumble dryer. (The tumble dryer is a condensing one so be aware and empty the water tank!). The kitchen was great with all the normal equipment.
We could not have wanted for a better place to stay.
There is a local shop within 1/4 of a mile for provisions and a pub. Unfortunately the was closed but probably it was just the time of year.
We stayed for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed everyone of them.
A lovely retreat where we could re-charge our batteries, if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of a busy life, this is the place.
Would we come again? Most certainly!
Thank you.
The house is situated within a small run of houses looking out onto the loch and across to Skye, it is about 30minutes drive to the main road over scenic mountain roads. Glenelg village has a small shop, community centre/cafe (opening hours dependent) and pub.
The house iteself is set with its own enclosed garden and drive area (great for dogs), the back garden looking over the fields and hills. You walk into a fully equipped utility - perfect for wet clothes and then onto the main house. The living and kitchen space was suitably equipped, including plenty of board games and kitchen utensils, but in need of some love, with well used furniture and some redecorating and cleaning required. It was warm and cosy considering the size and the heating was highly appreciated when temperatures were about minus 3 during the day. The bedrooms were of a good size and clean, but a new mattress would not go a miss in the master and some higher tog duvets would be great when the weather is so chilly (they said 10.5 but they most certainly were not like mine at home). The shower was great, always lots of hot water and lovely and powerful. Generally a bit of a spruce up would do it the world of good, but regardless the stay was most enjoyable - thank you.
