I was very happy with my stay here. The showers and bathroom facilities were excellent and the bed was comfortable. There’s a great view from the dorm and most things were walkable from here, (although the metro is 2 minutes away if you want to save your legs!) The area the hostel is in is very nice, and I enjoyed the company of the other guests.
The hostel's place was nice but it wasn't clean. The room was a mess. Stuff all around on the floor even. Someone took my bed when I was away. The price was okay, other than that below normal.
I've had a great time at ZigZag (note that it's named ZyhZah in Ukrainian transcription) hostel. It is located in one of the most convenient locations in Kiev city center. All 3 subway lines are a walking distance a way, which makes it easy to get around. Also, there are lots of stores and amenities nearby.
What made the stay particularly special was the friendly staff who work at the hostel. Victoria, one of the girls working at the reception, was very helpful with all requests involving city sightseeing, including directions to places in the city that tourists would be hard-pressed to find in any way other than word-of-mouth. The tea was appreciated as well.
This hostel isn't perfect, but I would certainly recommend staying there because of excellent staff.
Great value for clean and spacious hostel in vibrant location.

You get what you pay for
The location of this hostel is great! There are restaurants, shopping and other sites nearby. I stayed in a 4 person room and it was very cramped... It would have been better used for a 2 person room.
The wifi is also not great. When I arrived it took me almost 2 hours to connect. When I let the woman at the desk know, she said "well my phone is connected so it must just be your phone" and couldnt be bothered to do anything about it. I talked to other people in the hostel and it was not working for them either. Meaning it wasn't just my phone...
There was also no soap available in the bathrooms/common sinks which is a bit gross if you ask me. I ended up buying my own soap to use.
My least favorite thing was the fact that I had to go to the 2nd floor to take a shower. They had shower stalls on the 1st floor but they just used them as storage... The showers they did have could use a good deep cleaning.
It was not the best hostel but also not the worst. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay with a good location and you don't need anything luxurious it will do.
Great City with a lot of places to visit. The hostel location is close to underground and local buses. Hostel is not large but it does have several showers and toilets. There is a TV in the Kitchen and another TV is in a small area where you can sit on Beanbags. McDonalds and Dominos Pizza is a small walk away. Beds have above average mattress for a Hostel.
Nice hostel with welcome staff. I had no problems with super late arrival (while I promised to arrive about several hours earlier) which was a happy news for me :)
Otherwise it's nice value for the money. Will be stopping there again if I need just a place for overnight stay.
Location is excellent! All major attractions are withing walking distance. Beds are not very comfortable though (stayed in 10 bed room) however, for the price and location and smiley receptionists, bed poor quality would not matter! Definitely recommend for a short stay! Bring your slippers! The hostel has a policy of leaving shoes at the entrance.
Beds are comfortable and clean. There are not so many guests so it's never crowded around the shower/toilet area. It is spacious for a hostel. The elevator is a bit scary but works fine. Staffs are really nice. The area is easy to get around, close to the metro and lots of nice cafes and restaurants.
Not a bad hostel, but very 'corporate'. You'll find yourself either climbing up to the 6th floor or taking the very small, outdated elevator to get in.
The outside is nothing to look at. The inside, while once clean and nice does not reflect the pictures. It is well-trafficed so it is grungy and nothing is ever quite clean.
We booked two beds in a shared room and it was very hot (they don't seem to like running the a/c, but will do it when requested) the carpeting had stains and the beds were cheap and uncomfortable. There were no curtains, and the sun rises at 5 am, so it was difficult to sleep with that and the shared space.
The toilets and showers don't give you room to breathe, but are mostly functional. The 'lounge' is a couple of bean bags on the second floor landing next to a single desk and the wifi is very difficult to connect to, while speeds are minimal to ok at best.
We thought we'd cook in the kitchen, but it was dirty and being shared by about 30 guests, so we ate out every meal and crammed our leftovers in with everyone else's.
It was ok for a couple nights to get our bearings in Kiev, but we couldn't take it after two hot summer days and were glad to leave for a private room.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Normal
Pros:
Acceptable price
Friendly personnel(they are always gald to help you)
Cons:
Rooms are not cleaned daily as well as the kitchen.
If you book through booking.com or hotels.com (or any other websites), don't get suprised if they you will be settled in a room that differs from the one you've booked. They overbook, and next day they can ask you to move to other room.
The hostel is clean . We like a kitchen the most. Overall, it was good experience. They have wi_fi for free. The staff was so nice. I would recommend Zigzag. You need ask them for towels, it's not in the room. The door in the room was unlocked, that's the worst thing.
