Great location. New ownership and upgrades on-goin
The location is outstanding. It is quiet and attractive. The new French owners who live on the property, acquired the previously dilapidated hotel just about 8 months ago, and have made major improvements. My only real complaint was the truly bad mattress. I let the management know and they assured me that is in their immediate plans. Until then, I would not book there again, in spite of all the other appeals of the place. Otherwise, the restaurant is very good as you would expect from a French establishment. The patio is directly over the a very quiet and super clean section of Lamai beach. The restaurant is partly under a roof and some of the (new teak) tables are on the patio overlooking the water. Very appealing and romantic. Great place for a young couple (or any age) Nice lounge chairs and umbrellas and good (quick) serivice on the patio. The pool is not big, but impeccably clean. The staff are all fluent in English, and the management and supervisors all are native French speakers. Really attractive and comfortable, except for the beds. The management also assured me that the furnishings of the rooms are being upgraded too. They are basic now, but ok. I would definitely come again, with the assurance of a good mattress.

ON the beach, Relaxing and AMAZING!
I cant begin to explain what a wonderful place this is! We had a great experience in our lil beach bungalow... it came with a deck and fridge and the beach there was more private than the hotels more south of us in Lamai.... it had the finest sand and warmest water.... plus the pool is right there on the ocean basically! Peaceful and private... simple room with what you need... and walking distance to the night market and busier areas of Lamai! The staff was my favorite part along with the amazing food... breakfast baguettes and popcorn shrimp (which were actually large shrimp fried perfectly)

Good price and quiet.
Nice little resort. bungalows are simple and a little dated. Could use a renovation. Staff was friendly. pool and bar area were really nice. Rented a scooter from the resort which made things easy. about a 20 minute walk to Lamai beach so if you don't mind being a little away from the action then this place will work.

Work in progress
Booked in for 2 back to back periods (2 weeks and 4 weeks )only to find the hotel refurbishment far from finished.no kitchen/restaurant for 2 weeks.no bar to start and then just a fridge with beer in.bar not open in the evening anyway due to mine being the only occupied bungalow. As guests arrive they see the lack of facilities and move swiftly on.i have looked myself but have been unable to find suitable alternative accommodation for a 6 week period .mattress had to be replaced as broken springs sticking in my back.wifi only works sporadically. No tea coffee making facilities in room. I have to say though that zack and the ladies Have worked hard to recify anything in their power possible

Good if you're on a budget
Arrived in the evening and was shown bungalow room. Room was basic and bed sheets dirty. Air conditioning worked well. WiFi worked well in room. Had to ask how to use in room safe, however when approached staff were helpful. Gave us a lift to our next hotel at a good price. Hotel also does laundry at reasonable rate and came back very clean. Overall facilities looked a bit run down and the place lacked atmosphere. We enjoyed the peace and quiet however. Location was good, you can walk along the beach into Lamai, takes about 20/30 minutes. 7/11 within 5 minute walk Would stay here again if on a budget!

Very average bungalows
Very ordinary stay. Resort has an air of neglect. Thai offering temples at the entrance are in a state of disrepair. No tea bags or coffee in the room, safe was broken. On arrival a very drunk friend the owner was in the pool getting rather 'touchy freely'. Breakfast - worst food I ate in Thailand. Another friend of the owner behind the bar one night was rude to my friend & I when we left - possibly because we queried his taste in music ( Bon Jovi anyone.....) Saving grace was Adam - great staff member who made us feel welcome. Not what I expected.

Banyans, beach and bungalows
The bungalows are small and rustic but certainly clean and comfortable. There was no AC but the fan cooled the room adequately. The bathroom is small, you are showering directly over the toilet. Otherwise, the place is really nice. The staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious and the property is right on a beach which is protected by a breakwater, so the waves aren't as high as at other resorts. There is also a small pool for the kids (or you) to swim. The best part is the courtyard, which has 4 ancient banyan trees which provide shade and keep the entire property cool even on the hottest of days. The longer I stayed here, the more I liked it.

Relaxing
Lovely quiet place; rooms cleaned daily. Quiet air-con. Rooms have dvd players with a selection to pick from. Decent food at the bar. Very small swimming pool with comfortable sun chairs around and the beach directly in front. I noticed the description here saying it is 'near the beach', but it couldn't be nearer the beach unless it was actually on the sand! It's about a 7 min walk to the very busy night market area (not sure why ppl are saying that it's miles away from anything - it is a few kms from Lamaii central but I walked for a few mins and found the night market and plenty places to eat and drink or get massages, etc). It's not the place to be if you're looking to whoop it up every night, the bars on the beach here are pretty quiet. Lamai is a lot more sedate than Chaweng but it's still a busy area as regards numbers of places to eat, etc. I'd recommend staying here if you just want to totally relax whilst not spending too much cash on accomodation but also want clean and comfortable. Ask for rooms away from the main road side.

Hello Niamh, Thank you for your kind review. I also agree that we really aren't that far away from anything. We have a bar and restaurant within our resort, we also have a massage service available. If you would like to venture out there is a 7/11, day spas, salons, and restaurants within 50 meters of our resort. lamai central is a mear 2km away. Taxis will take you there for as little as 50THB per person. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope to see you again soon. Kind Regards The Team at Weekender Villas

Great find on Lamai beach
Loved this place! Room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was very helpful. They gave us an open a/c room even though we booked a fan room. They also helped us book taxis to the airport. The resort itself was right on the beach and had a lovely shaded courtyard with a pool, restaurant and ping pong and pool. Definitley was pleasantly surprised by this place considering the price. Would stay here again on my next visit.

Located in a serene and tranquil corner of the Lamai beach, this property offers a laid back ambiance with fine and cozy rooms in a pristine environment, the owner i wish should have been more interactive, asked us about our plans,he was quite prosaic and kept to his affairs.Wished the property had a credit card machine, but considering this not to be having too many rooms and the owner not hellbent on marketing the property,do not see the request to be implemented anytime soon. The owner was kind enough not to charge us as i intimated him about one of the temporary wooden see through near the window broken,Overall a pleasant experience.

Solid choice outside the center
I stayed here during low season and it was just the nice break in my travels that I needed: lovely pool for a dip with a gorgeous view of the beach, laidback vibe, nice clean room. I get that if you were travelling here at high season you might find the higher prices make the conditions seem less worth it, but I suppose that's the trouble with travelling at peak times! I found everything I needed just fine, from the functioning a/c and hot water, comfortable bed, and good (and not terribly unreasonably priced) restaurant food. I ate other meals at local restaurants just down the road too. It's outside the action of Lamai Beach, so if you're looking for a girlie bar out your hotel room door, this is not your place. If you're looking for a chilled out slice of serene Samui, this is an affordable option with all the essentials covered.
Response from Patrick on 4 Feb 2016
Hello Jenne, Thankyou for your kind review. Our prices are considerably higher during the peak season dues to such high demand on rooms throughout all of Koh Samui as more and more people from around the world choose Samui as their holiday destination every year. Although we do have only very short peak period compared to majority of other hotels having low, high and peak seasons throughout the year we have just 1 high season from 1st December through until 31st March. We are all happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope that you will one day return. Kind Regards The Team at Weekender Villas

Great budget resort right on the beach
Great little budget resort right on the beach. I originally booked 3 nights at this resort but after my time was up I stayed for 2 more. There wasn't too much to the room, but it was clean and comfortable and the ac worked great so I'm not sure I could really ask for more. The management was great and made you feel comfortable and welcome.

One night stay
We were arriving late on Samui and only needed a bed for the night, so only booked a basic room. If we were staying longer we would have booked a superior room, they looked a lot nicer. We moved from the resort because we found it a bit too far (for walking) from the main beach road and centre of Lamai resort.

a great value
I was sick and missed my prepaid reservation and the owner Pete said he would honor it when I came the next day or two. The cheap room wasn't bad but too close to the road so I upgraded to a nicer oom closer to the water for a reasoable price. The staff was nice, the cafe had good food and there was a nice pool on the water with tables to eat out there. Quiet neighborhood with town a walk or easy bike. The Weekender exceeded my expectations.

Great Place!
Stayed here for three nights as a solo traveller and really enjoyed my stay. The bungalows are great with huge comfortable beds and spacious. Everything you need is there, with good food, great cocktails and the pool looking out over the ocean. It's a bit of a walk into the centre of Lamai beach but this wasn't an issue for me. Best place we have stayed in Asia
My partner and I booked in for 1 night in the backpackers room with a fan. After that we wanted to stay another night, but there were no fan rooms available, so the owner upgraded us to a room with AC for the same price. Obviously not saying that's going to happen for everyone but just an example of the great customer service. The owner is a really relaxed and helpful guy and the hotel offers lots of little extras which really make it great, like free snorkelling masks to use, free pool table, cheap kayaks and a selection of dvds for the rooms too. The pool is small, but the hotel is right on the beach in a little bay which is good for swimming and there is a little reef for snorkelling. It's a little far from the town and taxis on Koh Samui are quite expensive so we hired a scooter from a place up the street, which was great for getting around the island. We have been travelling in Asia for 7 weeks and I think this is the best place we have stayed so far.

OK Hotel with nice view but long walk from center
We had an ok stay at weekender villa resort. On arrival we first noticed we had made a mixup while booking: it turned out there are several hotels in Lamai called Weekender - this one being not the one near the center of Lamai beach but a 15 minute walk away. This was our own fault though and apart from the long walk this was actually a rather comforting hotel - good bungalows, nothing too fancy but perfectly fine for the money. The view from the pool was very nice and it was a good place to enjoy a drink from the hotel-bar.

Awful place, stay away!
Had an awful, uncomfortable stay. Mattress was impossible to sleep on. Had to move hotels after 2 days my back was hurting so bad. And only got a %50 refund of my money I gave them for a night I didnt even stay! Also completely fell through the rotten deck outside of my unit. Wood gave way and my leg fell through and got badly scraped and bruised (I'm not a heavy person). No compensation, no help. I had to find the manager myself, (in his room, not at front desk). Manager simply said "oh...sorry...you wanna move to a different one?" After just unpacking we just said no thanks, assuming maybe we'd get a discount at the end or a complimentary meal. Nope, nothing for falling through the rotted old deck. Manager didn't even seem like he cared. When we left early, and wanted the money back for the nights we didnt stay I was very surprised he would't give the money back. The other thai man sitting at the desk said we could leave "no problem" that morning. Manager still took 1/2 a night from my card for the night we never even stayed there. I said after all I went through scraping up my leg, couldve seriously hurt myself, he said "Oh well, I tried giving you an upgrade'. No, nonchalantly saying "umm do you wanna switch rooms?" is not how you offer an upgrade! Customer service is so bad, manager acts like an angsty teenager. Also there was no beach, water went straight up to the wall.

Backpackers Guide to Weekender Villa Beach Resort
The staff were very friendly and very helpfull! The resort was quiet while there but I think thats due to the season. The food from the on-site resaurant was really very nice! I stayed in bungalow no4 which I think is their standard/basic. It was ok for what I needed. There was a kingsize bed, en suite, fan and air con, tv/dvd player, in-room safe and a mini fridge which was filled with two bottles of water every day. Rooms are made-up and cleaned daily. The resort itself is very clean, it was right on the beach and had its own swimming pool. There is also the facility to hire scooters/cars and arrange transfers to other islands/mainland via the staff their - both of which I did - it was very easy, reasonable and stress free. All-in-all a very pleasent stay! Would I go back? Yes I would!

Great hotel on the beach!
We had a wonderful stay at the weekender villa. But beware- there is another weekender villa in Koh Samui, so you need to make sure you get off at the right one if you're getting public transport. It's a short walk from the centre. Far enough so it's that bit quieter but near enough to be in the centre when you want to be. The rooms were cleaned daily and were in good condition for the money. We ate at the restaurant and that was good too. The hotel looked exactly like the photos on the site (always a bonus!). Lovely to watch the sun set over the sea whilst being sat beside the pool (the pool is not that big so don't expect to swim in it).

I keep a good souvenir...
When I travel, I always expect a bit of adventure and some surprises (good or bad). I keep in mind that nothing will be totally perfect, and I don't complain about details that are part of the inconvenient of not to be in the comfort of my home (like so many do). Understanding all this, I give 5 on 5 for Weekender Villa Beach Resort (not to be mistaken with Weekender Resort). This place is cool and "cool". These cute, rustic little cabin/villa are almost totally in the shade of majestic trees. The beach just in front in not the greatest but the swimming pool is nice and clean. They have a very good restaurant with local food prepared by local people. If you want some special seafood, just place your order, and they will get it fresh from the market for you and cook it ready at the time you want it. They have a computer with internet you could use for free (I wish they could add a webcam and Skype). In the room you have a CD player and a whole lot a good movies to chose for free near the bar (accessible 24 hours). The location is in a quiet zone, away from the party beaches... where you could alway chose to go with a share taxi for just 50 baths or so. I personally rented a bicycle for 10 days for 1000 baths (there is a rental shop not too fare). There are of course motorbike rental every where. I recommend Weekender Villa without any hesitation.

Having read the reviews on this hotel we were looking forward to our stay but were very disappointed on arrival-there was no atmosphere in the communal area, the rooms were so grotty & smelt terrible. It was really run down & I did not feel safe leaving any of my possessions in the room as the door to the room was so old & weak. The room smelt like it was previously a smoking room & was stale. We enjoyed our first four nights at Weekender Villa so much that when we were passing back through a week later we stayed two more nights. You really do get great value for your money especially considering the beachfront location (with pool). Weekender Villa is definitely a budget resort so don't expect a 5 star experience but I would challenge anyone to find something equal or better for the same money in Lamai Beach or Koh Samui in the high season!

I can say it is just at the beach. The front desk? has only two people . They are very helpful but their help is only restricted to some areas. Travel arrangements out of hotel is only restricted to koh samui airport. There are no pick up or drop facilities to the pier, nor they guide you be giving phone numbers or such for same. You have to go to some travel agents outside. The room given in the beginning was quite bad and after request it was changed. The good thing is the wifi but only in the common area, not in your room. But the view when you sit near the pool is very nice, and ofcourse the staff (two) are very courteous.

The beach in front of the resort is very dirty and not suitable for swimming. You have to walk a little further south to enjoy a swim at lamai beach. Room was clean, however the beds were very uncomfortable, but I guess that is due to the low price you pay for this accommodation.

My girlfriend and me booked the hotel in bangkok on short notice and were suprised how easy and fast everything was possible to arrange. We came to the resort and the check in was very fast and the staff at the reception was very friendly. The restaurant is small but the food is very good. The room was a little small but that we expected from other reviews we have read before. The staff at the weekender had very helpful tips for us what to do on Ko Samui and it was very convenient for us to book for example a motorbike through the resort. To sum up: great value for your money, very friendly staff, worth another visit!

Wonderful place to relax
This was better than we expected for the price we were paying. room was clean and the resort was just out of town so that it was a quitter area, yet we still were able to walk home (30 min walk) after a night out in Lamai. We had no problems walking home late at night and felt very safe. There was always a taxi driving past the resort if you needed one to get into town or elsewhere The service was great and breakfast was always pleasant and at a great price as well. The beach out the front was no good to swim in, so we used the pool, but as the resort only ever had about 3 other couples during our week stay, it was like our own pool villa anyway. If there was a down side it is that there is very dim lighting in the room, but as we had Room 1 ( the best room to get), it had many windows.
