Nice vacation home

September 2022 vacation obx

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Staff very nice and easy to deal with. Since day one very professional. The house, not so good. This property has multiple defects and damages and electrical issues. Turn on the microwave and the kitchen light turns off. The carpet was sticky and had some rips. There were nail clippings on the couch when we arrived. We took many pictures of all the defects, called for someone to come clean the place and inspect it for damage. We were told that someone would come the next day. The next day I called and was told that it was too late to send the cleaning crew and that only maintenance would come the following day. Not sure what the following day meant since no one ever showed up. We ended up buying cleaning supplies and cleaning the entire house. Also many soft spots in the kitchen floor which did not make it feel too safe. One of my guests had just received a kidney mi transplant and we could not risk spending a week in this house in the sanitary conditions the house was in.

We loved the large amount of space. Great location close to beach & high crows nest is a perk. House was clean, towels and sheets weren’t included. Overall great experience

"Should have been a LOT cleaner upon our arrival!"

Renting process was easy enough, all being done on line. House looked wonderful on line, way bigger than we needed but we liked the location. Kitchen stove was very dirty, drip pans were completely covered with dirt and rust, oven was also dirty. Kitchen floor and bathroom floors needed to be washed, dryer vent and door were clogged with lint and had to be cleaned. Washing machine had to be wiped down inside and cleaned before use also. Both downstairs showers had mold on sliding doors and some on caulking. Michelle Wright, who I believe is with "Guest Services" for Carolina Shores did come to the house and walk thru it with us. She brought new drip pans for the stove but later when I tried to use them I couldn't get the burners to fit in them. There was mildew growing on upstairs bedrooms walls where there was water damage. I have pictures of all I have mentioned and more. There is a lot of water damage throughout. Once she walked thru the house Michelle said she was going to try to get me a discount on our rental because of the condition of the house. I still haven't heard anything from Carolina Shores. Thank You.

Great place with a central location and amazing views from the top deck!

Our small group of family and friends really enjoyed this place for a beach vacation. It's centrally located in Kitty Hawk and most importantly is just a short walk away from a couple different beach accesses. The home itself shows it's age/use a bit, but has everything you will need for a comfortable stay. The highlight is certainly the top deck which is the highest point in the surrounding area which provides expansive views of the ocean!

Miracles in the Outer Banks...Kitty Hawk

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: First of all, thank you to the owners for allowing us to stay in their home. We spent the last two weeks of August on a family vacation. Our four kids and three granddaughters joined us. The five bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths accommodated us very well and met all our needs. There was plenty of room and space on the main deck and the rooftop deck was an absolute bonus! plenty of parking in a short walk to the beach.Our one daughter cleans houses professionally, so naturally they are going to find things that maybe could’ve been cleaned better, and they did. But in all honesty they were small things. Yes a little extra time spent wiping down a few things vacuuming in a few corners, lifting up some rugs and cleaning underneath, could’ve been done. As we moved in and settled in we found the cleaning supplies and vacuum and just took care of those items ourselves. Prior to leaving we clean the house from top to bottom and every little corner. We didn’t experience any bugs of any sort anywhereThe only things that we suggested on our checkout form was to have the spigot for the water hose near the outside shower replaced and the spigot upstairs on the outside deck replaced as well so that you could easily rinse the sand off things and yourself before going into the home.Are there little things here and there that could be repaired or replaced, sure, but it’s a rental home receiving continuous traffic and use and I think some of that is to be expected.We have been going to the Outerbanks for 48 years now, skipping a year here and there. We have rented all sizes and styles of homes up and down the shoreline. We usually rent right on the beach but this year we weren’t able to find one because we waited too long. We enjoyed this home with its great views, the rooftop deck, its location, and the general layout, so much that we would certainly rent it again!

Nice Stay

House was very nice and was properly cleaned upon arrival. House does need a couple of updates, including some minor damages around the house but nothing major. Good spot, a little far of a walk from the beach but frankly not bad at all and don't have to cross any major streets. Good, comfortable stay.

Spacious home a quick walk to the beach

The check in and check out process was quick and easy. The house was still being cleaned when we arrived around 4:90 and could have been better. Good spaces in the house with some updates. Some things still need attention like the kitchen flooring. We were concerned with the ac from other reviews but felt it worked fine. It was an easy walk to a lovely beach. We had a great week.

Nice place

Nice house, under new ownership. We met new owner our first day while unloading and he seemed like a nice person with interest in fixing up the house. Layout of house was nice with plenty of room, cold a/c , large table to eat at. There are a few things that could use attention, and the vibe I got from owner was that he’d get things right. Outdoor water faucets need replacing, though you could use outdoor shower to wash chairs, toys, etc. plenty of parking, extra fridge outside on ground level. Great view from crows nest. I’d stay here again

Wonderful Week

We had a wonderful stay with minor hiccups. We paid extra for linen service and never received the correct sized bed sheets for all of the beds. Our little girl got locked in one of the upstairs bedroom s because the door knob was missing at check-in with the housing and latch still intact and there were blood stains on several pillows, mattress toppers and comforters. We loved the house and location otherwise. There was plenty of room for our crowd and enjoyed the fact that there were TV's in all the rooms that were connected to the WiFi and had Roku.

Great house with excellent views

Loved the house with plenty of bedrooms with enough bathrooms for my family and my friends family. Kitchen and living room had a ton of space and balcony's were gorgeous.

Not bad, but not good.

The house has had some updating from what the pictures show. That was a pleasant surprise, unfortunately the bed sizing hadn't been updated so we were not prepared with king sheets. The door lock on the master bedroom stuck, locking my daughter inside. We had to unscrew the knob to get her out. The AC could certainly use some updating, the rooms were all very hot and the outside Temps weren't high during our stay.

Great location - House needs fixes

1. Living room rug is a trip hazard (see attached photo) 2. Very dirty central air conditioner filter and vents (asked for maintenance to come by - they never showed up - see attached picture.) 3. Window air conditioners had very dirty filters. (I cleaned them myself) 4. Very weak/dangerous railing on first floor deck. Wobbles with just a little pressure. 4. Electrical tape holding PVC pipe together on outdoor shower. 5. Very low water pressure in outdoor shower. 6. Dangerous nail pops on decks. (trip hazard and can cause injury to feet) 7. Dirty conditions throughout the house including toilets, vanities, floors, and window sills. 8. Black mold at baseboard in downstairs back bedroom bath. 9. Safety light at upper deck is non-functional. 9. Whole house sways when people walk inside or on stairs. You can see the mouthwash slosh in the bottle on the vanity. My wife did not sleep well due to movement.

Nice house in a great location

We enjoyed our stay at this place. Very close to the beach. We had 10 people and there was plenty of space for all. The rooftop deck was amazing. The house could be a little cleaner (rugs in bathrooms and living room need attention) and the kitchen is missing some basic stuff like a cutting board and normal dishes (there's a set of china which can't go in the microwave). Listing of bed sizes on the website is incorrect- there are 3 queen beds, 2 doubles, and 3 singles. Overall it was a pleasant place to stay for a reasonable price.

Summer reunion

We enjoyed our stay. The place was mostly clean with the exception of some pet hair from the previous guest I assume. Back deck was beautiful, I love the front screened in porch. Downstairs is Large and has the washer and dryer and even a play room. The only downfall was there is no way to get from upstairs to downstairs without going outside.There were a lot of cooking supplies, But not much space to put food. The walk to the beach was not bad but longer than I was expecting. The beach access was very nice though

We’ve been vacationing at the OBX for the last 15 years by far the worst house we ever stayed in The location is good view is good but that’s where it starts & stops! The home was 80* in the House while we stayed The rental company was called they advised me the ac was doing the best it could for us to keep the doors to the rooms open! They did bring a portable ac. Hardly helped at all. The furniture is just plain dirty and needs replaced There is no good cook wear in the home along with no bowls or good coffee cups! The palmetto bugs outside was everywhere at night! Also there were **** roaches in the home we saw on the last night we were there! On Thursday ( trash pick up day) we noticed that our trash hadn’t been picked up the rental agency was called they’re solution was we could bring a few bags to their office to discard them! Although the trash was picked up later the trash man got out of the trash truck and threw 2 bags out the trash cans unto the yard emptied the cans and drove off leaving the trash in the yard

Disappointed in Kitty Hawk

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We arrived to a home that resembled the pictures on the website at least 5 years ago. The cleaning crew seemed to do the absolute least amount of work for the home not to be beyond liveable. There was Mold on the countertops in the kitchen, the throw rugs throughout the house were filthy (did not appear to have been washed for at least the whole season), sliding glass windows were covered in dirty handprints and all windowsills had apparently never been wiped off or dusted. The upper deck mentioned in the add, was so shaky that we were not comfortable going up to the top level to see "the outstanding panoramic view". There was a hot tub dropped under the home that was not connected and had rope all around it. The AC could not maintain a temperature under 78 degrees during the daytime and on the humid days it stayed over 80 with all window and space AC units running on high. It saddens me that this is the first "real" vacation that I have been able to take with my family and we were so disappointed. We made due with what we got (bleached counters and sprayed down bathrooms) and reported the cleanliness issue to the office and was told that they were sorry but I feel like something more should have been done. If upgrades were done, deck and AC fixed as well as a new cleaning crew hired, I would stay in the property again....
