  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. A bit pricey just for the location. Functional but the house could use updates and better lighting. The WiFi wasn't reliable and that was challenging to do some work there

What a wonderful place to stay when in the Outer Banks! Wonderful communication with the property managers. They would text to make sure everything was okay while we staying there throughout the week. It was a wonderful time for our family

Lovely

We had a lovely stay. I had to reach out for a door code as one was not automatically sent to me. When we arrived the cleaning crew was still there finishing, and maybe as a result the kitchen could have used a little more attention, especially the coffee maker. I would suggest that the owner get a keurig instead (easier to clean). Also, directions on how to use the cable TV. There were multiple remotes with multiple functions and I have been cable free for so long it took a bit to figure out. Please know there are TONS of beach chairs left at this property so you don't need to bring your own.

Poorly equipped house

This house does not belong in a rental pool of any kind until it is cleaned, updated and well-equipped for people. Had I known what we were renting, we never would have rented this one. The kitchen was horribly appointed with old pots and pans, no recent knives, pots and pans are older than dirt., etc. the old coil stove is out of balance. Not good enough for anyone paying to be there and certainly not worthy of cooking high-end seafood in. The dishwasher is on its last legs along with the coffee pot, fridge and toaster. The property had not been well cleaned when we arrived. There were bugs and cobwebs everywhere upstairs; they were crawling on us as we slept. We had to sleep on the couches downstairs and go out to buy raid and clean for ourselves. The tv equipment was obsolete; but the property managers responded quickly. Coming from a real estate background with a property management component in AZ, I can tell you that you must raise your standards and not have properties like this to rent out to people. We enjoyed our vacation, but don’t recommend Am Di Lar to anyone who likes cleanliness and comfort.
