Sugarloaf Inn
6/10 Okay
"These hotel rooms have not been renovated or re-carpeted since the Bush Administration. There are no mini fridges and only a microwave in the lobby. If it were really cheap it would be kitschy and fun. But it wasn’t much less expensive than the much nicer Sugarloaf Hotel up the bunny hill. The bar was great as was the food - but nowhere to get breakfast before hitting the hill. Very close to the feeder chair, but so are all of the condo’s etc that are available on Air BnB. "

The Skowhegan By Kasa
10/10 Excellent
"Hotel is virtually brand new. It’s totally “automated” from booking to check in to check out. Beds very comfortable. Minus points: no microwave in room. One available in downstairs lounge. No ice machine. TVs were wide screen but I found it hard to get local broadcasts. A channel list would be very helpful. Curb in parking lot meets a cutout so you can roll suitcases and help people with mobility issues. Bar and restaurant in building. No breakfast provided. I would definitely stay there again"

Sugarloaf camp - ski/ outdoors rustic retreat
10/10 Excellent
"If you enjoy a rustic experience and the feel of off the grid on the grid Maine Ski camps, you’ll love this property. Great value and location for Sugarloaf. Matt is a super host, we had two snow storms in 3 days and I was always plowed out in time to get around. "

Ski In/Out at Sugarloaf Short Walk or Shuttle to Bars and Base Area Sleeps 4
2/10 Terrible
"The old worn mattress need be replaced. Sofa and armchair were in need of steam cleaning due to stains. Bed cover was dirty and it appeared that same cover was used by prior guests . Bed pillows needed replacing as they were flat and stained. Upon being in unit for less than 24 hours, I developed a severe asthma attack and had to leave. I informed owner and his response was to treat us to a meal at a local eatery. I am being treated for asthma currently. The soft furnishings are infested with dust mites which triggered my asthma. I had to seek urgent care services and unable to get out on mountain during my trip to ME. Checked into Jordan Hotel after leaving Sugarloaf area where I spent three days recuperating from sudden asthmatic episode. This is a cautionary tale for me especially when booking lodging even when reviews are favorable. This unit would be good for two healthy young people who have no issues about the cleanliness of very old furnishings or the stench build-up in this substandard unit. It was abundantly clear that my Asthma was triggered by an infestation of dust mites from an old mattress that needed to be replaced, old flat pillows without any casing and dirty sofa and armchair. There were no sheets to put over sofa or armchair and there was a thin folded blanket I had to use to stay warm. I, on the other hand never saw this asthma attack coming. Within a few hours after being in this old unit my symptoms developed and I am still recovering "
