Armada Hotel

8/10 Good

"The location of this hotel is both spectacular and dramatic. We booked the sea view superior room. We were allocated room 147. What a room, if it’s not the best in the hotel I would like to see what is. Amazing wrap around views of the coast and a copper tub in the corner of the room to admire them from. Outstanding.! Everything about this hotel was wonderful and would normally be a 5* review. The only let down was our room service experience, food order delivered barely warm at best, and incomplete. The waiter was miserable and clumsy. He would benefit from further training, and bringing up to the same standards of customer service as his colleagues. Great hotel, and location. Looking forward to returning soon."

The Tides B&B

"We had a fantastic experience staying at the Tides B&B in Ballybunion. David and Noreen were so welcoming, kind, and helpful as we were planning our next couple days in the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, and Galway. Our room (#6) was spacious, had a walk in closet with two luggage racks (!) , sizable bathroom with a wonderful four-way shower and bath product. Our king bed was super comfy with luxurious comforter and pillows. We had a lovely sitting area to read books and a fancy coffee/tea making station and mini frig. The breakfast was incredibly generous with the continental breakfast alone offering at least five different cold cereals, cheese, three different pastries (chocolate croissant, plain croissant, cinnamon bun), Guinness banana bread, two kinds of bread for toast, assorted jams and butter, yogurt and fresh fruit salad, a delicious granola yogurt concoction, and several types of juice, coffee, ample tea selection. And I’m sure I’m missing some items! On top of all that you can add hot items - Irish breakfast, eggs and sausage and bacon and hash browns, two different kinds of crepes, and more. While we were not here to golf this time, clearly most folks are golfers. We wanted to be closer to the Tarbert Ferry to head north as we were coming from (a terrible hotel stay) in Dingle and the Tides was a welcome oasis for us. It was also lovely to not deal with difficult parking for the first time in Ireland! We hope our travels bring us back to Ballybunion and to visit"

"Our stay at Dolphin Cottage was absolute heaven! Dermot was an amazing host! He was there to greet us and even had a lovely apple pie waiting for us to enjoy that evening. The property is 100% as described and the pictures do not do it justice! Every amenity was thought of and the views are just stunning from every room. I rented this location for my mother’s 75th birthday present… and with it being our first trip to the motherland we were unsure of so much. Dermot had recommendations, suggestions and was eager to assist with anything we needed. I cannot recommend this beautiful property enough! We hope to return soon with the rest of the family! Thank you Dermot and Nikki for sharing your beautiful home with us and helping make this such a memorable trip for my mom and I ."

The boathouse: modern house by the sea

"Our family of 8 just returned from a wonderful trip to Ireland, and our stay at the boat house was one of the best things about it! The house was perfect for our family- everyone had their own private bed and bath, very comfy, with wonderful views from every room. Our favorite things to do were watching the horses, especially the cute little foal being quite naughty to his patient mother, and watching the boats go by on the other side and the tide coming in and going out. Also we loved walking up the lane, all the beautiful wildflowers, not to mention the beautiful flowers at the house. This house is truly a gem, we all wanted to stay longer. Michelle is a wonderful host, so welcoming and had delicious scones and bread waiting fot us. We would stay again for sure!"
