Welcome to this modern, yet cozy apartment in Nikiszowiec, a historic district of Katowice, originally established as a workers' patronage estate at the beginning of the 20th century.

The apartment is located in one of the most photogenic streets of the neighbourhood, capturing the unique red brick buildings, and views to the picturesque church tower.

Nikiszowiec is perfect for conscious tourism and remote working and recharging after a busy day of exploring, site seeing or meetings

(The space)

The spacious apartment is conveniently located on the mezzanine floor of a historic tenement house "Silesian familok”. With its modern, well-balanced and minimalist design, inspired by a combination of Scandinavian and Japanese styles (Modern Japandi), it provides the ideal place to relax and recharge.

The fully, newly renovated apartment is a family project that is opening its doors to guests in the beginning of 2023. We have given a lot of care and love to the project, as we feel both a special connection to the city of Katowice as well as this unique district. Although this is not our principal home, we want it to feel like home to every guest that stays in the space.

We equipped this apartment with high-end eco-friendly household appliances, underfloor heating, air conditioning and design elements while maintaining elements that are typical to Nikiszowiec neighborhood, and Silesian architecture styles (red brick wall details, high ceilings, large windows and open spaces).

[Lobby / Entrance]

When entering the apartment, it’s hard to pass by without noticing the beautifully illuminated red brick wall. Here you will find a big mirror from floor to wall, as well as the (toilet / laundry room) and direct entrance towards the living area of the apartment.

[Toilet / Laundry Room]

Conveniently located, right next to the entrance you can find a small bathroom including a toilet, sink basin, and washing / drying machine. The apartment has 2 bathrooms which include a toilet, this makes it ideal for busy and fast mornings – no more fighting over who goes to the bathroom first :)

[Kitchen / Dining Area]

The modern and new kitchen has all basic appliances necessary for a convenient stay, whether you prefer to cook at home or enjoy simple and quick breakfasts before heading out to explore the city. The appliances available are: large fridge and freezer, oven, induction stove, dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster as well as cooking accessories. Next to the kitchen, you will find a large adjustable table with high bar stools. The table can host at least 6 people and has been designed to enjoy a casual shared dining experience. The kitchen area has a window which allows natural daylight to pass through, as well as enjoy the architectonical views.


[Living Room]

Two big windows, framed by red brick and a subtle thread of LED lightning are the background of our living room. Here you can relax on a comfortable couch with lounge, which when necessary can also be converted to a comfortable 2 person bed. The coffee table is on wheels, so making the bed is hassle-free. During the day the windows with thin curtains allow for natural light to come through, and during the evening a second layer of thick curtains make the space feel safe and dark for a good night rest.

[Bathroom]

Adjoining to the living room area you will find the principal bathroom, which includes a toilet (the second in the house), shower and sink, as well as round shaped mirror with additional LED lightning. The tiles in the shower have been intentionally picked to resemble natural stone.

[Bedroom]

And finally, the bedroom. We have chosen to create a big bedroom, with a king sized bed (160 x 200) made out of natural wood, memory foam mattress and quality pillows. The reason why is because restorative and quality sleep is one of the most important things for well-being. Next to the bed, you will find a desk which you can use for working or other focus oriented activities, a large wardrobe with 2 top to bottom mirrors and darkening curtains, to create an intimate atmosphere.

At your disposal is the entire apartment, a bedroom, a large open-plan living room, a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a large shower and a toilet with laundry facilities, and a hall.

A small technical compartment has been excluded from use, for storing items not used on a daily basis.

Nikiszowiec was built in the years 1908-24, according to the design of Georg and Emil Zillmann, designers of other innovative urban and architectural projects, including the nearby located historic district Giszowiec. Nikiszowiec is a complex of buildings with various functions - mostly residential buildings, but also a post office, the neo-baroque church of St. Anne, a post office, local shops and other businesses. There are a few local supermarkets, ice rink, a gym among others and service premises. The advantages of this district are good communication with the centre of Katowice, green and peaceful surroundings, making this part of the city an ideal place to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city, while immersing yourself in its history and atmosphere. Among the historical buildings, you can blend into the atmosphere of unique Silesian architecture, unique in the world. In 2011, Nikiszowiec became a Monument of History.
