"I was such a beautiful place to stay! There was plenty of room, and plenty of pillows - rare in Japan! The decoration was very tasteful and welcoming. Staircase was a little narrow, but this is common in Japan and not a fault of the owner. There was only one toilet, which worked fine for our family of 4. Location was fabulous - easily walkable to Nara Park and the train station, and right on a busy walking street full of shopping and food, yet still quiet enough to rest at night. My only...

"The property seems to be recently updated, it is modern, and clean. The amenity is lacking a few things (for example, it tells the guest to wash dishes and put them away but doesn’t provide a clothe to dry them). Also, the instruction isn’t super clear. The instruction reads to leave the key on the table when checking out (that’s what it says literary in English), when in fact you need to lock and put the key in the lockbox as one example. Also the road to access the property is quite narrow...

"This Kyoto hostel completely overturned my impression of local accommodations being typically cramped. Very clean and comfortable. High-quality beddings. The living room was surprisingly spacious—easily accommodating our big group with over ten large suitcases! Located near Fushimi Inari Shrine and Tofukuji Temple, it was very peaceful at night. We had brought thick bedding, worried that Kyoto might be cold, but the rooms were extremely comfortable. When we asked for more bowls, chopsticks, and a...

"We really enjoyed staying in a real house in a real neighborhood for our trip to Kyoto. There was plenty of room for our small family, and we felt we had a more authentic visit to this beautiful city. A couple things to note for those who read reviews is that the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and narrow, and I worried for my husband navigating them in the dark at night. The bed in the second bedroom is on the floor, which isn't a bad thing considering this is an authentic experience,...

"Not the easiest place to find, would suggest a sign between the two other buildings, it’s opp the Police station. At the rear of the front buildings. However once you have found it, the accommodation is great. Easy walk to buses or taxi to wherever.
Great place would recommend, just remember it’s down an alley!"

"The house was great and in perfect condition.
Great location as it is 3 min from the Inari shrine and close to the train station which is always helpful.
Nothing to complain about except 1 thing: there was no pool table as shown on the photos and we were not told about it. The guy who gave us the keys told us it is being fixed, which is fine but we would have prefered to know beforehand as we were very excited about it.

"Campton Kiyomizu is a traditional Japanese hotel conveniently located in the old town center of Kyoto. There was a near-by grocery store open 24 hours, which we frequented, and taxis were always available. The rooms were spacious, beds comfortable, and all areas were very clean. It even had a washing machine. They gave us comfortable pajamas which we ended up purchasing. Our host, Masao, provided outstanding service, accommodating our every need, including coordinating the luggage...

"Hotel Granvia Kyoto is a very nice, clean, and exceptionally well-positioned hotel. The location is excellent, with plenty of food, entertainment, and shopping nearby.
The amenities felt somewhat lacking from a Western perspective. Having to pay an additional fee to use the gym, for example, seems unusual compared with typical U.S. hotel standards.
The biggest disappointment was the condition of the corridors, which were not particularly clean and had a noticeable cigarette smell. That detracted from an otherwise very pleasant stay. Admittedly, some of these impressions may reflect differences between Japanese and U.S. hotel standards.
Staff was excellent and very accomodating"
"The location can not be beat. Opposite Nishiki market and a walk away from shopping, temples and shrines.
Rooms are tiny. There were 3 of us. The beds are close together and there is minimal extra space.
The sink, toilet and shower are all separate which was great because someone could shower while someone else could brush their teeth etc. the sink was in the room.
Free small cup of sake at night. Free coffee/hot chocolate.
Laundry - 4 machines. Washer/dryer combo. Takes 2 hours a load. Drying takes extra time if you are adding jeans etc. this was busy. Had to go stake out machines.
We had a lovely stay. Room was small but we were not in it all day except for sleeping."
"-Reception staff were a bit aloof.
-Staff in the restaurant where breakfast was served, were very friendly and helpful.
- Guest lounge is spacious and relaxing, you can help yourself with a drink (hot or cold) while planning for your day.
- Room is very clean
- Location is perfect, it’s just opposite to the station with many amenities nearby
- Breakfast is not to be missed
- Will stay in this hotel again"
"Great location, walking distance to delicious restaurants and Kyoto Station. Very helpful staff and clean, modern facilities. We will come back soon! Thank you."
