We stayed at Liku'alofa for 3 weeks for our honeymoon in December. It was wonderful! The staff were brilliant, the food was excellent, and the fale was spacious with a very comfy bed. There were a few negatives though - the fale only had cold water, the power went out a couple of times (twice over the course of 3 weeks - not too bad) for a few hours at a time, and the kettle (jug) had some sort of calcium build up at the bottom that would flake off into the water whenever we made a cup of tea. These things were annoying, but we didn't consider them to be overly negative. The fale had air-conditioning though which was wonderful! We would definitely go back, but maybe not for as long a time - we basically did everything we could in Tongatapu in a week and then spent a lot of time swimming for the rest of our time there. Oh and the swimming pool is out of order but you can swim in the ocean right next to it - the beach is a bit rough (full of coral) but the water is divine.

Disappointing reality of this accomodation
The photos of this accomodation do not fairly represent the reality of this location. The accomodation is run down and has not been kept to an acceptable standard. Rooms are filled with cobwebs in the bed side table lights, roof and corners. The rooms are also not sealed from the outside and cleaned appropriately and therefore have numerous bugs throughout then including but not limited to ants, spiders and cockroaches. The beach is littered with rubbish and cigarette butts and is not cleaned by the staff which hindered enjoyment of beach. The included Breakfast is very minimal and basic. Please note that there are roosters very near the accomodation which will be very load at around 2-4am every morning. Really a shame given the beautiful location and natural wonders of Tonga, once we moved to new accomodations we thoroughly enjoyed our trip, the island and local people.

Overall we loved staying here, it is very relaxing, with great views and most of the staff are very friendly and helpful when you need something. One staff member who really stood out was Tui, he was fantastic and was always happy, helpful and good to have a chat with. He was a big part of why we enjoyed staying here as much as we did. The location is great and there is some good snorkeling locations at both the resort and close by. Reception is only open from 8:30am to 5:00pm so late arrivals at the resort could be managed better, we had a little trouble just trying to contact someone who could show us to our rooms. The food is good, and there is plenty of it, with a good selection of dishes on the menu.

The location of the property is great. Right on the beach, beautiful sunset views as you dine on their outdoor patio. The food is excellent, wonderful chef. The staff in general was wonderful. The property itself is in need of a major renovation. The units are old, plumbing working only partly. Ocean pool is closed and unusable. Gardens however are beautiful.

Great for a really relaxing break. Comfy bed, usually a hot shower, restaurant overlooking the water so you can watch passing whales, snorkelling in safe area, friendly staff. Would go back again.

Location great, whales cruising by, friendly staff, very much in Island time; but, looked like little maintenance had been done in years and food selection, although tasty, was limited (50% of options on menu).

The resort is right by the ocean - you can't really call it a beach as such. We saw whales and swordfish a number of times swimming close to the shore which was a real highlight. The majority of the staff are very friendly and helpful, particularly the office staff. One afternoon my partner lost his phone at a beach we'd walked to - one staff member lent us her car to go back and have a look and we found them! The property is a bit tired - it does need a makeover. Showers run hot and cold and the water is sometimes off. Some bathrooms in the units smell a little and the food is very average. One Fijian staff member consistently provided great service, but customer service is something that some of the other restaurant staff still need to acquire.
