Hotel and bedrooms noticeably outdated but excellent view from junior suite balcony, and close walk to gondola, our primary reason for staying here. The kandersteg town I would not recommend as there are towns more lively and interesting and require short commute. Only booked for convenience to lake.
Lovely hotel we are doing road trips from uk to Europe went few countries and tried lots of different hotels this one is most beautiful hotel then all others imagine views around mountains waterfalls small town only thing need to upgrade pillows beds are comfortable room we stayed had balcony I recommend this hotel wish I had few more days in the hotel it’s so relaxing breakfast is best so many choices lots variety overall it’s a best hotel I travel a lot stayed so many different hotels 5 stars 4 stars all kind this one is best I read reviews about chef but restaurant open only 3 days Friday Saturday night and Sunday I didn’t had chance next time
Great property, nice and clean, comfortable and convenient. Breakfast was good, yoghurts, breads from the local bakery, cold meats, cheese and bacon and eggs plus other cereals etc. Shower was good, although the hot water cut out once for a few moments which wasn’t great. The pool and spa were great, a lot of features and nice and clean. Dinner is a set menu on Friday and Saturday only. Overall a great hotel.
The decor was the most vintage chic we’d ever seen . The views from the hotel room were breathtaking. But !!!! THE BREAKFAST IS BY FAR THE BEST THING EVER. The freshest most delicious bread, fruits, yogurt station , eggs and bacon , lox all types of cheese and coffee with a delicious cappuccino. . . Perfect way to get the day started and hike .
We hadn’t realised how far out at the end of a route Kandesteg was and as we were limited to the amount of hiking we could do had booked an overlong stay. We tried to shorten our visit but couldn’t do so without sacrificing our payment.
The receptionist was unbelievably good. She spent an hour planning an itinerary for us and as a better room was available gave us a free upgrade
The breakfast was very good with scrambled eggs and bacon if you were early and a good continental selection The dining room only opened on Friday and Saturday night and was slightly overly rich
The Blumisalp across the street was much better and better value for eating
Lovely family run hotel in a delightful small Swiss village. The owner is the chef at the restaurant, called Nico’s. We had two excellent dinners there. The reception staff are helpful and friendly.
Very much a vintage hotel experience. I had an excellent mountain view, which I was able to enjoy from bed every morning. The cleaning crew were efficient and very good. The staff was very helpful with planning alternative hikes. I chose to walk the 800m from the train station, which for me was very doable. However, I am very fit and this may not be an option for everyone. The breakfast buffet was very good. I also had dinner at the hotel restaurant, Nico's, which was excellent. It was my best dining experience in Kandersteg and during my stay in Switzerland. The spa was small, but clean and very relaxing. I highly recommend staying here and would absolutely re-visit if I come back to Switzerland.
First impression matters, we arrived super early before checkIn time, the front desk was unattended, I called for help and someone showed up with no friendly approach, I stated that I understood that we were early to check in and we wanted to see our options, she seemed annoyed with us, did reminded us that it was too early to check in again. I asked if we leave our bags and she took us to the room where we could leave our luggage until check in. I did not feel welcome at all.
The property is nice, clean, comfortable beds and spacious room. The area was very quite for the time we were there, not everything was open, but we enjoyed it that way.
Breakfast was good. In general it was a good stay but unfortunately the first impression was not good at all.
The room was not very clean. I dropped my book between the bed and the cabinet and my book was covered in dirt and fluff. We did not use the swimming pool - or should I say plunge pool. The online photo makes it seem like the pool is about 25m long but in fact it is more like 10m! The swimming pool is very dark and dingy and not at all inviting. It's a sham because we chose this hotel because it had a pool. On the plus side, the beds were extremely comfortable and the breakfast was great, a very good selection of muesli and breads. The hotel team were very helpful so I do feel mean giving this review but I do feel a bit tricked into thinking they had a nice pool.
Very luxurious family-driven hotel. Rooms were old-school but nice. Cleaning was unbelievable and quick. Breakfast good and perhaps best coffee I had in a while. Staff was nice. Location really good. Could have used a fridge or kettle. Would recommend.
Location 10/10
Parking limited but no issues.
Great views.
Spa was nice, very European not the same as local Canadian spas if your not naked your out of place.
