Fantastic place to stay - very good value! I stayed in one of the bungalows which had a nice, small balcony. Location is excellent - off the Main Street, but still quiet. Breakfast, which was included, was very tasty! I liked it so much, I extended my stay by two days.

Overpriced, but good location

We stayed one night at Pongphen and paid roughly 1000 BHT. We felt this was a little overpriced for a dated guesthouse, but it was well-located and breakfast was included. Staff were friendly enough but I think we would stay elsewhere if returning.

Pongphen Guesthouse is conveniently located, just off the main drag with a myriad of cafes, shops & restaurants at your fingertips. Our Riverview room was clean and spacious but required a bit of maintenance. The pool is welcome relief at the end of a hot day of touring and breakfast was more than ample.

I always look for value and Pongphen has it. Meals are tasty and affordable and the free breakfast is fresh cooked and great. Our aircon conked out and they upgraded us to a river view room. Would certainly choose it again when in Kanchanaburi

Not friendly management

Everything would be great but the lady who was answering questions about buses etc. wasn't friendly unlike rest of Thai people. As I understood she was in charge of reception and services, but no tag with her name on uniform. The other lady who also was speaking English was very triendly.

Staff friendly and helpful. Room was really nice overlooking the river. Also very well cleaned. Food was fantastic. Some of the best pappaya salad i have tasted. Parking good for larger motorbikes as well. Good location bear to a few bars. I will certainly be going back there again.

The food was delicious and we loved the banana pancakes for breakfast and ate a couple of times in the evening too. The pool was lovely but got crowded but was great for cooling off. Staff friendly and helpful - we would stay again.

Pongphen guest house is amazing it sits right along the river so try to get a room with a river view as it's amazing the staff were friendly and it was in a good location to visit places and a 30 second walk and you are in the town where's there's bars and restaurants for stuff to do in the evening

We loved our stay at Pongphen Guesthouse. Great location. Easy walk to many restaurants, convenience stores, etc. 15 minute walk from Kanchanburi train station (where you board the Death Railway) and the Death Railway Museum and War Cemetary. Staff was super friendly and very helpful in booking tours and telling us what to see. Located along river, we had some beautiful sunset views! They were doing some construction by the pool which was a bit noisy during the day but otherwise it was fabulous!

Staff absolutely lovely and helpful always accommodating. Food good and restaurant part very clean . Staff There to help and just have a nice way about them. Clean tidy they look too and all staff cleaning staff laundry staff bar restaurant staff great . Unfortunately building work was going on so my rating came down. Noisy due to that as day time near pool wasn’t able to relax at all which usually is the better part of my stay . Also the tv as kept going on and off most annoying in the bungalow . Cannot complain at all with staff and all the team worked very hard in all their own ways . Would I go back I think so but not as long as I was there 7 days but felt comfortable as a rule Karen England
