"Our experience at this hotel was truly amazing! We arrived here after taking the bus from Bagan and instantly spotted the hotel located at the top of the hill. When we arrive we discovered that the hotel had only opened 3 days ago and we were their second guests! We were greeted with cold towels and shown to our clean, beautiful, and large room. Although we could only spend one night here every second of our stay was perfect thanks to the amazing staff. Louis, the manager, speaks incredible...

"The room is very spacious. Very friendly and helpful staff. You can use their bicycles to travel around for free. We arrived on New Year's Eve and the hotel hosted a party with free buffet dinner for all the guests! Their staff even performed traditional dances."

"We arrived at 5:40 am. They greeted us with a smile which was needed after a 10 hour bus ride. They gave us a room. Early check in saved us from being too exhausted to have fun. The food they made for breakfast was delicious and held us over until dinner. "

Reasonably good Breakfast - they will take you to a nearby restaurant Cons 1. Staff hardly understands English (it is true for almost all the hotels we stayed in Myanmar) 2. There is no AC or Fan. We had to tell them to give a table fan - which they gave. Considering it is a hill station , it is not a big problem. But since the height of the hill station is not great - the temperature is not that cold - when we stayed 3.When we came the owner was not there & hotel staff initially said there is no booking in our name. The hotel booking is in the name of Golden Kalaw Inn, whereas the name mentioned Infront of the hotel is Hotel Golden Kalaw.So when they said there is no booking in your name, we thought it must be some other hotel 4. Then they said we are not supposed to get any breakfast - which was also not correct. Later they did provide breakfast. 5. Then the owner said they have received payment only for 1 room and not two rooms - this is also not correct. I had to explain this to her for 6-7 min. Later we were allotted two rooms. All this causes lot of anxiety to the tourits"
