Overall, it was a good stay. Room was fairly clean, but some furnitures were a bit dusty. The view from the balcony was simply amazing and the laundromat was easy to find, convenient and not pricey. Some members of the staff were kind and helpful whereas others seem to hate their jobs. Would recommend for a short stay on a budget.

The worst hotel I stayed at in Japan.
The worst hotel I stayed at in Japan. This hotel is extremely old, using a central air conditioning system, and you are not allowed to adjust the temperature in your room. During my stay, I had only two options: either turn on the air-conditioning system and endure an uncomfortably warm room temperature, or turn it off and open the balcony door to let in natural air, along with some smoke from other customers smoking on their balconies. In the end, the receptionist could do nothing but lend us two fans. This was the first time I stayed in a room with "air-conditioning" stated on their website, yet I could only use two fans for my two-night stay. Please avoid this hotel, as I believe there are much better options in this area.

The room comes with the view of Sakurajima volcano, facing the sea which is good. However, we were not able to open the balcony door due to a hotel notice stating that there are bugs known as "stinky bugs" that are flying around the area. Air conditioner in the room is weak. Beds are still comfortable. Parking is convenient with a fee of 1000yen per night. There is a 7-eleven and family mart located opposite the hotel and about 5 mins drive to a 24hours supermarket. Overall hotel experience is average however Kagoshima is a nice city.

The hotel is a bit far from the city center and there aren’t a lot of public transportation options, but the staff was helpful in getting a taxi for us each time we went out to the city, and the taxi ride was only 10-15 minutes depending on where we went. We had a beautiful view of Sakurajima from our room and the room had 3 beds and a rollaway, perfect for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids. We had dinner at the Japanese restaurant Minato (not the teppanyaki but the Japanese food side) and it was a wonderful experience! We got a private room and the food was delicious, and the price was very reasonable. We would recommend this hotel to families that need multiple beds and to those who want to be a little farther away in a quiet area, with a great view.

The hotel was very difficult to get to. It is not located near subway or tram lines. On the map it appeared walkable, but took over an hour in the hot sun to arrive. The hotel is dated and in poor condition. My room had no running water in the sink. The pool access was one of t main reasons for wanting to stay, but they closed the pool at 5:30 due to corona. Since I arrived after then I had no chance to use it.

Worth a stay if you can get over the room temp
This hotel has an amazing, unobstructed view of Sakurajima which is the best part about it. The price was very reasonable and we chose to stay here because they were the only property in Kagoshima city with a pool. Unfortunately the pool and onsen were both closed because of COVID-19. The hotel is a well-appointed peak-Japan bubble hotel, probably opened in the late 1980's or early 1990's. That being said the biggest issue was that one cannot control the room temperature. The hallways in the hotel were very hot. The rooms were right at the cusp of being too warm. The staff offered a fan, which did help. I imagine if the hotel was doing better business they might be more willing to cool the hotel. I understand all businesses depending on travelers right now are suffering. I wish them the best of luck and would stay again.

Staff were very helpful and hotel was super clean. Our room felt a bit tired - stained carpet and scratches in furniture. But the location was great for views of Sakurajima Very good breakfast too

Art hotel has big quiet rooms with balcony and beautiful view of the see and volcano. It takes 25 minutes to come to the hotel from the shinkansen railway station Kagoshima Chuo by bus 11, 16 or 32-1. The swimming pool is currently closed due to reconstruction, but there are nice walks on the jetty in front of the hotel.

The property is quite a hike out but the ocean view room was great. Quite a dated hotel but clean and friendly. Enjoyed spa to myself at night with sakurajima volcano puffing away over the sea.

Good hotel with a well equipped spacious room. It even had a balcony and a fantastic view of an erupting Mount Sakurajima! The staff were brilliant, friendly and multilingual and the hotel was well served by shops closeby outside as well as one in the complex. I highly recommend this hotel for either short or long stays.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The hotel was a bit aged but the room was very comfortable. There are local convenience stores a short walk away and the airport bus drops off/picks up you next to the hotel.

Pleasant stay
2 night stopover in Kagoshima. Hotel well placed to view Sakurajima volcano but about 5-6km out of town. Building ok but a little tired, likewise room and (especially) bathroom. Staff excellent, especially Mr. Shiraishi on the front desk who was very helpful and polite with a travel request.
