"All the charm and delight of a classic motel with updated rooms and caring service! After traveling for to long from South padre to Alpine my partner and I needed a comfortable relaxing break. We stopped into Sun valley to check availability and vibe. Upon arrival we were asked to wait while the owner rushed outside to help corral a customers pet to safety. Appreciating that energy and the tease of a hot breakfast we got our key and headed to the room. Comparable to a major change the room was...

"Property was conveniently right off the freeway. Easy parking and food within walking distance. Property could use some cleanup within the landscaping. Room was clean and huge. Had the single king bed room. Little noisey with the freeway right there but was tired enough to sleep right through it especially with the ac on. "

"We asked for a non smoking room but once there for about 30 minutes it began to smell like smoke. The Paint is pealing on the room doors, carpeting old and thin, old fixtures, old furniture, lumpy bed. The property has a gazebo, sitting areas, pool, lots of outdoor space. I love the location on the hill overlooking the river though. It needs updating big time."

"Very run down motel (still early 80s). Not the hotels fault but a transformer went out, so no electricity from 5 to 10:30pm with temp was at 105 that day. Very hot room with a weak a/c. Finally cooling off around 4am. Was not happy. "
