Overnight stay

This was just anovernight stay before heading back home to the UK. The hosts were very nice and they ensured we had everything we needed. Nice breakfast in the morning. I would recommend this accommodation to others.

Charming bed and breakfast

Charming place to stay right next to the Sand River which was in full flow after the rains. Pearl was a friendly and helpful host. She even came out with an umbrella to escort me to the room. Wifi was perfect and one of the nicest omelettes I’ve had for breakfast in a long time.

2 week stay in Thatchfoord Lodge. Cleanliness,service,amenities, location are all outstanding. Also mentioned that the steam view is wonderful as everyone . Even though being rush everyday during my stay, Thatchfoord Lodge supports me like home. Prepare late breakfast and Save my favorite fruits especially. They've known my routine. Printed me urgent documents for free, Safekept my delivery parcels when I was outside. Thatchfoord Lodge will be a nice experience and memory. I will stay here again with my family next time, to slow down and enjoy warm hosts service.

It was a bit hard to find late at night, but once inside, it was a real treat. The sound of the river quickly put me to sleep in my comfortable bed. The friendliness of the staff was a welcome change from my usual corporate hotel visits and I will surely stay here for my future visits to the Woodmead area.

Excellent cottage so sweet!

After a 24hr flight from Hawaii, this little GEM of a place in Johannesburg was exquisite! We were warmly greeted by Pearl, and went to our suite w a beautiful deck to have tea n coffee (and yoga in the morning!) The bed was comfortable & it was just adorable with thatched roof & we LOVED it! There's a stream you can walk along that's lovely ..... The breakfast room overlooking pool was cozy & charming! Yummy hot breakfast served to us (and the cappuccino muffins were so good!) Joyce was amazingly knowledgeable and helpful of things to do around the area....!!! The staff were all very friendly! I wish we could have stayed longer as I was so comfortable & relaxed. I HIGHLY recommend this sweet oasis!

Confirm with Lodge before booking as the number of beds was misrepresented in listing for Garden Room. It only has 2 single beds and a sofa bed, NOT an additional king size bed. Otherwise, it's in a safe and beautiful location in Sandton with a delicious breakfast.

隠れ家的なプール付き中庭が素敵なホテル

急な予約にも関わらず親切丁寧に対応いただきました。 とにかくプール付きの中庭とそれを見渡せる部屋が最高(多分どの部屋からも見渡せるようになっています)。贅沢かつゆっくりとした時間が流れてる印象です。旅行の都合上1泊しかできなかったのが本当に残念です。 朝食も大変おいしかったです。 急な予約だったので夕食の支度に間に合いませんでしたが、近く(片道10Kmくらいですが…)のモンテカシーノという超素敵な場所を紹介いただきました。ここは絶対行ったほうがいい！ 危険な南アフリカと言われますが、ここは超安全。天井が空模様のベネチアンのような雰囲気のレストラン街とカジノが併設された天国のような場所でした。 フライトの都合上本来立ち寄る予定でなかった都市で素敵な時間を過ごさせていただきました。

They did not have a aircon but an ineffective oil heater whereas it was a cold that night and at least they provided with a hot water bottle which sadly didn't help much because I woke up with a flu the following morning. Like Staying w. An Old Friend, Cozy and Comforting

The owner Pearl and her Manager Judy organized my pick up and arriving at Thatchford was like a breath of fresh air. It was a safe neighborhood, surrounded by beautiful houses in a very wealthy neighborhood. There was a gorgeous river on the other side of the fence and I would take morning walks here, very peaceful and extremely relaxing. It was like staying at an old friends place, personable, comfortable and you just felt at home. This was exactly what I needed after staying at lots of boutique hotels all over Africa. Some place I could just feel like home, decompress and unwind. What made this place extra special is the type of service Pearl and her team give, they will go above and beyond to make your little wishes come true. Prior to leaving I was hungry and thought I would just wait to go to the airport and eat. Pearl got into the kitchen and made me a grilled cheese sandwich, presented it on a tray with flowers and apple juice and knocked on my door! Wulla, All this and no charge, just pure, personal service.....now, you can't get that at any hotel without paying some huge fee.

Peaceful sanctuary with fantastic staff

The thatchfoord lodge is a peaceful little sanctuary which feels 100 miles from busy joburg, while actually being a few minutes drive from everything you need. The mall is just around the corner, the lion park and zoo a short drive and plenty of shops nearby. The lodge backs onto a delightful stream and garden and you really don't feel like you are in Jo burg at all. Pearl and the other ladies are so helpful. Our daughter was sick while we stayed and they really helped out washing stuff for us. We weren't made to feel like a hassle at all. Breakfast is lovely and we paid for one evening meal which was delicious.

Too far out of the way! Stay in Zoo lake!

It was not ideal, located well within a safe area, but too far away from everything unless you posess a car to roam around you'll be stuck there. I think they try less than some other guest houses I've stayed in. Really seem to just cover the basics only and not really trying.

Relaxing break

The managers were very kind and friendly. The pool and garden was wonderful. Loved the room and breakfast service. In a secure gated area and it was nice to stroll the roads. Close to one shopping mall and near to another as well. Free wi-fi was great.

Good deal

The room is big enough with a large bed, TV and free Internet access. The landlord (a woman) is a bit distant at the first talk but she's getting sympathetic days after days (perhaps she didn't understand me well at first because of my English...). The "bad" things would be the shower and toilets which did not look very new and were very noisy when being used. There was a swimming pool as well but the weather was not cool enough to use it (and it was a bit dirty - I hope it is cleaned during summer !)
