"The room was clean, fresh and comfortable. Everything felt pristine and well-maintained.
The premium location is superb — convenient access to key areas, stunning views, and a luxurious atmosphere right in the heart of the city.
Friendly staff made the stay even better.
Highly recommended. Will definitely return!"
THE ONE Shanghai Downtown, Vignette Collection by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"Really well located property, minutes from the famous Louis Vuitton boat as well as a shopping centre. Smooth check in process with the only extra's charged being a roll out bed. Little bit annoyed at the extra charge as the room description did say it slept 3 but in this case, it clearly didn't. Friendly front desk service. The breakfast was below par compared to other five star hotels, so this is one area that requires improvement."
"Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the Shanghai Marriott Marquis. The location is excellent and makes it a great base for exploring the city. Our room was a good size and offered the level of comfort you'd expect from a Marriott property.
That said, there were a few areas that could be improved. Housekeeping was a little inconsistent. On more than one occasion, the soap or shower gel dispensers weren't refilled, and some glass surfaces still had water marks, as though they had only been wiped over quickly. These are relatively minor issues, but they're not what you'd expect from a hotel of this standard.
The concierge team could also be more proactive. A warmer welcome and a few more smiles would make guests feel much more valued. Unfortunately, the member of staff responsible for arranging taxis was particularly rude to my wife, which was disappointing and something I hope management addresses.
One thing that genuinely surprised me was that the final bill was calculated using the exchange rate on the day of checkout rather than check-in. I'd recommend paying upfront if possible, unless you're happy to take the risk that exchange rates move in your favour.
Finally, be aware that the hotel's laundry service is exceptionally expensive. I'd strongly recommend using one of the many local laundries instead, as you'll save a significant amount.
Despite these criticisms, the hotel still provides the quality and comfort you'd expect from Marriott and I would return."
"Club lodge is a great bonus, 5 meals per day, very nice quality and good services. Great location, very classic
There is a 16.5% tax plus service fee which was a little high."
"Amazing stay in a spacious suite in heart of Shanghai. They have a fabulous breakfast, indoor pool, top notch 24/7 gymz. There are steam sauna facilities, You need to inform the front desk at the spa if you want to use complimentary steam room and sauna services. Well maintained property that is very clean and quiet. Butler service was very responsive, I forgot my iPhone charger and they promptly lent me one for the stay."
