I really like the little market inside the hotel, especially since we had no car. It really helped traveling with 2 teenage boys who eat all the time quick morning options, or late night snacks was a huge plus. Beds were super comfy and we slept great all 5 nights. Only downside is that it’s kind of out of the way from everything we did so we spent a lot on Uber rides. But overall we really enjoyed our stay had what we needed.

When you search for the hotel in the internet tells you that everything is relatively close and when you arrive at your stay it the opposite. The is no transportation service to surrounding areas, there is no good near the proper perimeter. It is completely lonely for a hotel, its location has zero accessibility. Not recommended for tourist without cars.

We had an excellent stay. Easy UBER ride to the train station. Super friendly staff. The room was big with lots of seating so you were not stuck sitting on the bed when in the room. The kitchen was very convenient. They offer a lot of bonus features you don’t see at other hotels. They were helpful with any questions we had as this was our first time travelling to NYC. We will be back and will recommend this hotel to friends and family. Thanks to the staff at Candlewood Suites 🤗

When you just need a break . . .
Life can be a bit stressful at times and I really needed a quiet place to relax. Candlewood Suites Secaucus was PERFECT! The room was beautiful, very clean and a nice size. The studio suite had a large L-shaped desk that worked very well for working and for meals. There is a kitchenette that would be very useful for extended stays. Even though I didn't really need it, it was also very clean and stocked with some cooking items. The bed was superbly comfortable and the pillows were heavenly. It's been a long time since I've fallen asleep so quickly. This hotel is also convenient to Manhattan. It was a five minute Uber ride to the NJ Transit train station and a 13 minute ride to Penn station. Finally, and most importantly, the staff was fantastic. Excellent customer service! Richard greeted me at check-in. He was very friendly and had a good sense of humor. Upon check-out, I was greeted by Felicita. Her nickname should be Sunshine because her lovely personality brightened the lobby. The next time I need a break, it's a no-brainer as to where I will be staying.

Wouldn’t come back
I take a lot of work trips and this location is close enough to the city. Unfortunately, this hotel had a number of problems with it, beginning with the smell of the entire place. Secondly the room had several issues including the fact that the AC was literally falling apart and there were stains on the bed. Normally I’m not high maintenance at all but I ended up checking out early because I was highly uncomfortable

We originally planned to check in right around 3 but were running late so had to go straight to the concert venue instead. I called the hotel 5 times within a 20 minute time period and the phone would just ring and ring and ring until it hung up. No option for a message or anything. I ended up contacting IHG directly to explain my situation and the IHG representative told me that he put a note on our account and the late check in would be fine. They, while we were at the concert, we get a call from the hotel saying that we are the last to check in and there is only one room left. That room has a water leak so they cannot let us stay there. So now we are at the concert trying to book another hotel. Candlewood said we'd definitely have a room for our remaining 2 nights but at that point we just moved hotels completely. So disappointing.

We asked for extra pillows and after about 2 hours we were told there weren’t any. Also our shower curtain smelled like mildew or mold and it took forever find out there we also none. The guy at the front desk was told by his manager to take one out of another room. Overall it wasn’t ok to pay $400 for this room. When we come back next year we won’t be staying there again

There was a lot of cigarette and marijuana smoke in hallways and penetrating into the room. The air conditioning was very noisy and interfered with rest.
